Multiple Instances Of G Drive In My PC Which Can't Be Deleted
Feb 25, 2016
So I have two storage drives, an SSD which has my OS on it and a hard drive. I was trying to set it so that all my documents, pictures etc would be stored on my HD and somehow (God knows how) managed to just create multiple copies of my HD (G: drive) in 'My PC' which can neither be rename nor deleted, completely failing to get my documents where I wanted. I've been trying for ages to get rid of them but so far all I've managed to do is accidentally change their name from 'G:' to 'Downloads'. as can be seen from this screenshot.

I just installed Win 10 and had backed up everything to a USB hard drive before doing so. Well it seems for some reason Win 10 removed my folder with all my work in it and also changed the folder and file permissions on that drive during installation. I talked to customer support and after spending an hour with tech support and not finding them, the person said it was impossible for Win 10 to do that and I was basically called a liar. So I'm having problem of win 10 altering or removing files on a drive it shouldn't even have been touching?

I have two drives. One is an SDD, which is where my windows installation is. The other is an HDD, which is where I keep a lot of large files. Whenever I delete something on my HDD, Windows copies it onto my SSD before deleting it (by moving it to the recycle bin). I do not want this to happen. I want it to either move the recycle bin to my HDD or don't copy it into a recycle bin at all. How can I do this?

I have a Seagate SATA 500GB HD as a second HD. Windows 10 deletes the letter of the drive every time I reboot/turn off my PC, and I have to reassign the drive letter. Why is this happening and how to fix it?

This morning I downloaded windows 10. Installed and all that only to find that I couldn't connect to the Internet. I have a belkin USB adapter that allows me to connect wirelessly. The PC didn't recognize it and would not connect. So I connect my dvd drive again so I could reinstall the driver. Now the PC doesn't even show my dvd drive. So I cannot install the software and the it won't connect through Ethernet. I went to the store hoping to find a PCI express card so I could just slap it in and be connected. Walmart didn't carry the item so found this usb to Ethernet thing.

I seem to have two instances of Java installed on my Win10 Pro 64-bit Laptop .. see screenshot below. Can I safely uninstall one of them?
If "yes" then which one? I have no clue how I ended up with 2 x Java installs on my laptop. I'm assuming I should keep the 64-bit install, and delete the other? I use Chrome as my usual browser, but very occasionally use Edge

Virtual desktops but IMO shouldn't each desktop run an application unaware that another instance might be running on another desktop. The OS itself can keep track of shared storage areas etc so we aren't talking here about running separate virtual machines.
What I'm thinking of as an example is say I'm running EXCEL on VD1 and I'm downloading data from the web. On VD2 I should be able to start another instance of EXCEL and download data from another website.
BOTH applications should still run irrespective of which desktop is the active one. I get the impression that the NON active desktops don't still continue to run processes in the background if they are essentially a "shared process" like EXCEL.

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro with an upgraded Windows 10 installed. Always perform Windows Update but did not pay attention too closely. When the drive space was low and started looking a little bit closer, I found out that I have several Recovery Partitions. From Disk Management display, from left to right are the partitions:
500MB EFI | 40 MB OEM | 490 MB Recovery | C: OS 22.8 GB | 450 MB Recovery | 4.75 GB Recovery
The problem is I do not know which partition that Windows 10 actually created as its Recovery Partition. I do know that the 4.75 GB partition is my original Dell Venue 8 Pro Recovery Partition. Which one can I remove to allow the expansion of my C drive? What gives?

I recently used a 16GB USB flash drive to create an installer for a new Linux distro. I noticed that the created partition is 8GB and the rest 8GB is unused. I want to create a second NTFS partition so I can use the USB as a recording medium for my PVR, but Disk Management doesn't give me this option. I then used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, which did create the partition but warned that it won't be recognized by Windows as it normally sees only the first partition on a USB Flash drive. I even went back to Disk Management and assigned a drive letter to the second partition, but in Explorer I see only the EFI partition (first, drive is formatted in GPT mode) with that drive letter. Is there any workaround? Of course I could just format the whole drive as NTFS, but I wouldn't like to do so until I don't need the installer anymore.

I realise this problem would be similar regardless of which Windows being used. I partitioned my HD and moved documents to new partition. Mistakenly removed the partition without restoring files. Is there any way of recovering the lost files?

I have a small Acer computer that runs a weather program that takes data from my weather station and updates my weather page on the internet. I bought the computer new with Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 10, then did a clean install of 10. Everything is working great except for one thing, I can't delete files, they keep returning to the folder.
I will occasionally use the snipping tool to save a file as jpeg and then use it to update my Facebook page. I also download the latest update to my Weather program. I go to these folders, Download and Documents, I delete several file and later that day they have returned. I have even used Bit Defender File Shredder to delete them and they still come back. I've been a Windows 7 user for many years and never ran into this issue.

I have an HP laptop that shipped with Windows 8.1. I upgraded to Windows 10 weeks ago and tonight I accidentally reformatted my D: drive recovery partition.
I have recovery media on a USB pen drive that I made back when I first set up my computer.
Has Windows 10 changed the D: recovery partition during the upgrade or will it be the exact same image the computer shipped with?
how I can get the recovery files back on the D: partition?

I have a folder that I created for resized images. I now do not need (Want) this folder. I can delete it, but it returns. I have tried all I can find to get myself rid of this folder...Safe-Mode, unlocker, moving to another location, renaming, going to target, by-passing recycle bin and can't remember what else to no avail.
I have scanned with Avira, MalwareBytes, Bleeping-computer, SpyBot, and superAntiSpyware. No Nasty`s found yet. Maybe not to worry about, But sure would like it gone.

This is probably the worst operating system Microsoft has ever developed, Even worse than the Millennium, which was pretty bad. Somehow windows 10 installed it's self and I decided to try it....Then before the 30 days were up I wanted to uninstall. Guess what you only have 28 days. So when I tried to uninstall it my fences and desktop icons disappeared as well as my office software and other things. What a mess. When I tried to use shadow to reinstall the deleted programs, icons etc. They would not reinstall due to windows 10 deleting part of the programs. There is also a pop up screed on the windows that keeps popping up and you can't get rid of it. Well you know I am MAD! Not only that the AMD driver is also not working and HP says that it has not a fix for this yet.

My computer crashed and when it rebooted, it required me to login with my Microsoft account. Now, this computer has had a local account since I got it 5 or 6 years ago. I have never used the Microsoft account on this computer.
Trying to switch back to the local user using guides on this site, that local account apparently doesn't exist anymore.
I'm obviously concerned that it deleted an account on its own. How do I get the account back? Creating a new one is easy enough, but are there any permission issues? I have enough of those between Windows 10, and the previous 7 installation.
