Aug 5, 2015Is Remote Desktop only available on Windows 10 PRO? I have Win10 Home and the option to "Allow remote connections to this computer" is not present.

Jan 15, 2016My desktop is connected to my router by Ethernet. However, the printer I use is in my wife's office on another floor. It is a wireless Epson Artisan 730. I have added a Dlink DWA-171 wireless usb adapter to my desktop to print wirelessly to the Epson.
However, every time I want to print, I have to disable my Ethernet connection so the WiFi connection will see the printer. Then I'm done printing and I re-enable the Ethernet (faster, more stable).

Mar 5, 2016I have related issue. Every time Windows 10 forces a critical update. The computer ends up on the lock screen instead of finishing loading as it does on normal restart. It's a problem becuase the computer is remote location. So every time critical update happens. I blocked regular updates. can't connect then to drive 40 mins to slide the screen. I created task that reboot:s it nighly but that doesn't work as its not fully loaded.

Feb 10, 2016I'll have connections available on my computer (Windows 10 Home 64-Bit HP) but whenever I click the connection menu, they don't show up, which means I have to reset the modem, wait the 15 minutes it takes, and then the connections FINALLY show up. Once I'm connected however, if I click the menu again, the connections wont show up. The image I've connected shows what I'm talking about. I can wait for a long time and connections still don't show up. I was wondering if there's a way to troubleshoot this without resetting the modem every time I want to use my computer.

Feb 23, 2016I have a new HP laptop win 10 installed and I like it very much but I have an issues with One Drive .
I use my WiFi connection at home for browsing and usual stuff which is fine and One Drive uploads to the cloud with no issues and of course does not affect my data allowance as my Internet connection is unlimited.
In my workplace I do not have a land line and use a talkTalk MiFi dongle with a 5gb limit . I connected to the MiFi and carried on as normal but realised that the One Drive used my data quickly and soon I had a message that I had no data left .
My enquiry is can I get One Drive to ignore my MiFi connection and only do the uploads on my home internet connection only ?

And how do I stop it from happening, as it seems it will keep going to Network 8, then Network 9 and so on.
Networking :: Can't Make Secure Connections With VirtualBox
Dec 23, 2015I installed Oracle's virtualbox on a windows 10 machine. I'd like to download software to it like adobe reader. I can't. I can start up internet explorer and connect to the web and if I click on links it goes to those links. If I try to go to google.com I get a message that it can't make a secure connection. I tried downloading adobe acrobat in windows 10 and transferring it with a shared folder to the virtual machine. I was able to transfer to the virtual machine but when I tried running it, it tried to connect to the web and could not. This looks to me like a security problem because the browser can connect to some sites in the virtual machine and only complained when they were secure sites. Is there some security setting in windows 10 that could be blocking virtualbox from connecting to secure sites?

Networking :: Connection Icon In Systray Not Displaying Connections When Clicked
Nov 5, 2015My assistant in the other room accidentally unplugged the router and I lost connection. I told her to plug back in. I clicked the correct connection when it appeared, but I did it too soon. From that point on, when I clicked the systray icon, nothing happened...no display of available connections. Over and over I tried clicking the systray icon and no window popped up to show available connections. If I hovered over the icon, it did say connections available..
Then I right-clicked and went into the Network & Sharing Center. I could never find where it showed available connections like in Windows 7.
Finally, I had to reboot and I had my connection back.
If this happens again, where can I find available connections so I don't have to reboot? Or even better, is there a way to get the systray icon to again be responsive?
Networking :: How To Remote Control From XP
Feb 16, 2016Win 10 computer can see the XP machine and access shared files, like wise from the XP machine. I can remote control the XP computer using Desktop Connection, it works great. What I cannot do is remote control the Win 10 computer from the XP. File sharing and network discovery is setup on both. The network was established before Win 10, as the group is WORKGROUP. Too many devices to go through and change over to HomeGroup.
The XP computer is the professional version with Remote Desktop installed. I do not get any numerical error msgs to track down the problem. I have tried using the IP address and computer name but neither work.

In windows 7 this was not a problem,is there a work around so if two windows10 computers have no user passwords you can connect?. This is on a private home network. It hangs and I have to close the connection, then try again and get an error stating it's not available because it's busy, then try a third time after a few minutes and it works. I have disabled connecting to printers, clipboard, smartcard, etc. and still have the problem.

Aug 16, 2015I have recently upgraded to Windows 10. I have a homegroup setup on my home network which allows me to share the music files stored on my PC with phones & tablets etc for streaming.
Since the upgrade when I access the files using Apps like BubbleUPnP or MConnect the music files are all shown in one giant folder rather than being sorted into the sub folders (Artist, Album etc) as it is on my PC.
This problem has only occurred since upgrading to 10. I reverted to 7 to check and everything went back to normal.
Is there a setting or checkbox I am missing?
