After upgrading from 8.1 on two different pc's, browsers (both edge chrome) load first page quickly but subsequent pages load very slowly. I'm on wireless netgear router.
View 1 RepliesNoticed that Microsoft Edge being extremely slow in opening applications or loading web pages or is it just me? Sometimes it takes ten to thirty seconds to open webpages with the dreaded spinning circle. It would be a while before I could clean install due to lack of funds but I wonder if it's my 25/25 internet or just edge being the culprit?
View 9 RepliesNot sure if this is the correct place to post this but anyway, I've noticed that Firefox is extremely slow when using Youtube when it comes to loading videos, but when I use Edge on Windows 10 it load just quickly without problems.
Any way to get Firefox to go faster?
I recently got a new laptop and I've been having trouble with connecting to the internet. Several times a day, internet pages will stop loading and Windows diagnostics will come up with the message "The default gateway is not available". This is fixed by resetting the Wifi adapter. I've contacted my ISP and they say that there's nothing wrong with my connection so I'm guessing it's either something wrong with my laptop or the router.
View 7 RepliesThis happened two weeks ago. almost 30 percent of images on facebook will not load. some web sites or pages will not load, for example [URL] ...... for this site I'm getting SSL connection error ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR in Chrome. I try http and I get a blank page. I tried opening this site on Firefox, Edge and still the same. The same goes for Facebook. I tried on other browsers and still some images wont load. I do not have a third party antivirus/firewall. tried disabling windows defender ( including firewall) and still the same.
I have two VMs , Win 8 and Ubuntu 14.04. everything is working fine on these two VMs. so I'm quite sure something is wrong with my Win 10 but cannot think of anything. I was thinking it is most probably a firewall issue, so I'm posting in Security section.
I'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series. Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.
Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.
Regarding the boot time: I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds. I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.
As for the slow icon refresh.. how to fix this.
Upon start up my computer is extremely slow and I get this message "cannot connect to Windows service". I can't open any of my documents or connect to google chrome. If I let it sit for about 10 minutes I can access google chrome and my files. I have taken the computer into the local computer fix it shop and they said there were a couple of broken registry paths, no malware and everything ran fine for them. The first couple of time I used the computer after getting it back home it worked great but now I'm back to square one. This is extremely frustrating.

I have to refresh some pages as many as 10 times before the page will load and overall web browsing is extremely slow.
View 14 RepliesI have windows 10 installed on a ssd drive and my boot time is around 2 minutes. I've tried everything that I could find online, such as: disable startup programs, enable fast boot etc. . I had some corrupt image files, but I repaired them using DISM and now 'sfc /scannow' is not returning any errors.
I want to mention that I did a clean install of windows 10(I did not upgrade it, I removed what I had before completely).
I had windows 7 which was booting really fast.
My system model is z97x-gaming 3 and I have 16GB RAM.
My Windows 10 laptop, which previously had Windows 7 (I upgraded through Windows Update) is now having problems with the file explorer.It all started last night, when I was listening to some music with the windows media player, then it froze, a windows popped up asking me if I wanted to end the process and I said yes. From there, it all went downhill. My File Explorer is now EXTREMELY slow, I open a folder and it takes 1 or 2 minute for a new window to even open. Then it takes like 2 more minutes for the new window to even show things. When it does load i can't even scroll up or down or open another subfolder because it freezes and shows "Not responding" at least 3 time before even doing something.
At first I thought it was a performance Issue, but Steam, Task Manager and even games work perfectly fine. Maybe it's worth to mention that my task manager sometimes displays as if my disk was being completely 100% used, but then it goes back to 98%, then back to 100% again, and after a while it calms down and displays the actual percentage. My HDD is more than half free.
Also, when I first installed Windows 10 I had a BSOD Issue. Managed to solve my issue through dump files provided by the W7F Diagnostic Tool. I am trying to back up my most important files to my external hard disk right now in case I have to reset/format my PC, but since the File Explorer is extremely slow, the estimated copy time is more than a day.
Google Chrome won't open and using the Windows 10 search tool at the bottom left makes File Explorer crash sometimes.
So I just took part in the Windows 10 Insider Preview a couple of days ago, and I have to say, Windows 10 is a great step up from Windows 8, they did an excellent job so far. There's just one problem: File Explorer is extremely hard to use. Not only does the file explorer freeze all the time (even on folders with almost nothing in them), when it does freeze, it goes back to the top of the folder when it unfreezes.
What I mean is that I can be half-way down a 260-count file folder, like this:
Then it will freeze, and after it unfreezes, it goes back to the top of the folder, like so:
Doing simple tasks such as moving, copying, renaming, deleting and even scrolling and clicking causes File Explorer to freeze, sometimes even when it's idle!
And what's weirder is that the glitch doesn't happen when your opening a file for a specific program (say you click 'open' in Word and you get the 'Open' dialog box where you can pick a file).
I posted this over to Windows Feedback too, but I don't think it supports user comments, so I'm posting here to see if there's any fix. If there's any fix for this, let me know. It's been annoying me for a while now.
I have had windows 10 for about a month now and have had no problems. Today some updates were installed and straight after that my browsing speed became pretty much unusable. I have 160mbps download speed and have no problem browsing on other devices.
I cant watch a simple youtube video or download anything and am a bit lost.
for some reason i can't get Groove Music to actually do anything it show my albums/music, but i can't click on any of it.and when i use Window Media Player, that works fine.
View 1 RepliesI switched from chrome to firefox since chrome was draining the battery of my xps 13 (i5, 4GB). Battery life after switching to firefox is significantly better, but performance wise, everything is so sluggish while using firefox. It even lags when I tried to open a new blank tab- took like have a second after I clicked the "plus" sign to open new tab, then opens the tab in segments. The lag also happens to almost every command I have for firefox.

I've had Windows for a few months now and never really had an issue until the past few days. Overall CPU performance/speed is way down. Firefox freezes then recoops every 2-3 minutes, adobe plugin constantly crashing, even to do things offline is crazy slow.
I downloaded Windows Defender probably a week or 2 ago and that is the only big change that I know of done on this computer. I used to run Malewarebytes, SuperAnti-Spyware and Advanced Windows SystemCare. But was told that Advanced Windows SystemCare was the devil and to try TFC (temp file cleaner) & MyDefrag instead. So now i'm running;

MalewareBytes (free)
SuperAnti-Spyware(free)
TFC
MyDefrag
Is this combination making my computer un usable? Or something else?
After completing the Win 10 upgrade process everything looked really good....until I started browsing the internet.
All my browser's are slow as molasses and getting tons of connection time outs.
So I have an HP Envy laptop. Recently web browsing has intermittently become painfully slow on both Edge and Chrome (e.g. loading this website hung for a few minutes) and I have many timeouts on websites. This appears to be the case even when I use different Wifi networks. I do not have this problem with my desktop which shares the network.
I was wondering in Windows was in the middle of some update, but when I click on Settings -> Update & Security Settings, the control panel window simply loads a white field on the right and the words: Windows Update, Windows Defender, Backup, Recovery, Activation, Find My Device, and For Developers. I can click on nothing. The control panel often freezes (e.g. if I click on a web browser I cannot click back on its icon, but can see it if I minimize all other applications) and eventually auto-closes. When I search for Advanced Windows Update settings, I get a light blue screen with the control panel icon in the center which promptly auto-closes. I can access all other control panel options, just not anything below Update & Security.
I downloaded Microsoft Security Scanner and ran than across the entire system; no threats were found. I currently am running Windows Defender which last updated itself this early this morning.
I am using Windows 10 version 1511 OS build 10586.104.
I used to be a knowledgeable Windows user, but stop keeping current a couple of versions back. Does this sound like anything familiar or previously seen?
Normally when i use the net all is fine. Noticed today when i run a video convertor programme in the background the loading of web pages is extremely slow. Stop Freemake video convertor and page loading is normal speed. I assumed it was memory, did memtest and no errors found. CPU monitor sits on 100%. Had similar problem with Villisoft last week. Time for a new CPU methinks but having said that would 100% cpu usage slow down webpage loading to that degree.
View 5 RepliesSo for the past month I been having issues with logging in my computer. It would load my desktop slowly or freeze if I leave it the I see the mouse with the loading icon and it will load for an hour. I try restarting multi times. I also went into safe mode and it loads fine I disabled all my auto start up programs and tried logging in normally and still takes the same amount of time. This hasn't happened since a month or two ago.. I also tried turning off the fast boot thing.Also I want to try reinstalling windows ten how can I go about doing so if I don't own the disc becasue the upgrade offer. I can only use my pc in safe mode as its not starting up correctly.

Have used defender which did find something on my wifes user and cleaned it and then nothing after or on MWB . PC is generally running as fast as ever and fibre is coming in at 40/20mb .
I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 on my desktop computer. When I restart windows the boot went well, after that, a blue loading screen with a loading circle in the middle take too much time to load. It takes around 5-7 minutes before the Login appears (the login where you enter your password).
Is there a way to fix it and to make it faster? 5-7 minutes is too long. (I already have Fast Boot checked)

Ok so since upgrading from 7 to 10 file explorer has been a absolute nightmare! Everything was either incredibly slow, didn't happen or only partially load. After enduring this to this day I have decided enough is enough and started diagnosing by limiting the startup services using MSconfig.
After going through enabling startup services groups at the time and restarting the computer everytime! Eventually I found the service that was causing the problems with file explorer. The service is called Windows search and once disabled it restored functionality to file explorer. The search function in file explorer works but the search in the taskbar doesn't.
Step by step guide:
1. Hold Win+r to open run
2. Type msconfig and hit ok or enter
3. Click Services
4. Navigate to Windows search (you can sort the list in descending alphabetical order)
5. Uncheck tickbox
6. Click apply then ok
7. Select to restart now
I installed Windows 10 last week as an upgrade from Windows 7, and the internet part is working good. But something with the file explorer didn't work. The Document, Pictures, Music, and Video files are still there, but the thumbnails load slowly, or not at all. If it means anything, there's a green bar that slowly moves across the top of the screen.
View 2 RepliesI've been having this issue for a long time (not sure how long), some internet pages that require the browser to load resources/images/whatever are laggy as all hell. Sometimes they load fine, but other times it takes forever to load thumbnails of videos on Youtube or images on Google Images.I clean my cache and registry, using CCleaner, fairly often so it's not a clutter issue. I scan my computer fairly often too, using Malwarebytes and Windows Defender, and never found a threat so it's not a virus/malware issue. I have no internet toolbars, speed enhancing apps or any other programs of the kind. I also have my drivers up to date.
View 3 RepliesYesterday, after getting infected with malware, I decided to freshly reinstall windows 10 on my computer. However, after reinstalling it, I noticed that my bootup was very slow. During the windows logo part of the bootup, the screen flashes once, and the loading circle of dots becomes slow and low quality. Afterwards, the screen turns black for ~40 seconds, and then I get to the login screen.. And sometimes, I get that issue after logging in.
