Trying to add a new DNS IP address. Go to the adapter, go to the IPV4 properties and advanced and add the new DNS IP address. Every thing is fine until I close the adaptor window and it pops up an error "an unexpected condition occurred, not all of your requested changes in settings could be made"... Even if I make no changes at all and just open and close it I get this. Need to set the new DNS as first on the list.
I tried to change the windows update settings and I can't! I get a message saying that some settings are managed by my system administrator! I am the only user in this laptop with administrator privileges.
I just finished a fresh install after going through several BSOD (which have now been corrected). I'm trying to change the settings and I can't changed date/time nor can I access the settings( Start>Settings). When I try and change the settings or date/time I get "This app can't open. Your trial period for this app has expired. Visit the Windows Store. Visit the Windows Store to purchase the full app." When I try to open Windows Store, same thing happens. Date/time is now an app?
I have just received updates for Windows 10, nd now when I boot up, I get a message, a copy of which I have attached to this post. This is after I sign in.
It matters not how many times I reboot, this message pops up each time.
Following instructions from a game manufacturer I changed the 'read only' settings for users / documents folder. Win 10 now disfunctions (instable, search unavailable, chrome closing incorrectly, etc). How should I proceed to restore the folder settings without restoring windows completely?
Installed a chinese application earlier called Kuwo Music Player. I have been using this particular application for quite some time and today is the first occasion where I decided to give it a go on Windows 10 too. Then came the problem, I realised that the settings to change the system locale ( this is necessary otherwise the chinese characters cannot be displayed) is no longer where it was in Windows 7/8. I too couldn't find any useful results on the Internet. where I can find and change that setting, or any other working solution would do.
So I'm wondering how I can get the trackpad to behave the way it did in Win7, with scrolling being controlled by one finger on the side and bottom of the trackpad, instead of a 2 finger gesture in the center. It seems like I have all the settings set properly, however it hasn't changed. Am I missing something?
I have looked in the Settings personalize Tab and can not locate the time tab for setting interval for picture changing? any other location it may be located in?
I am the only owner of my computer. And all the proxy options are grayed out.. ! "Some settings are managed by your organization" . I am using Windows 10 Pro.
I recently upgraded my laptop to windows 10 from windows 8.1.
However the problem I have is that my vision is not that great and I am having a hard time seeing the bottom bar with the light skinned themed so I am having a hard time finding the setting to change the setting to a dark themed so I can see better. I used XP for a long time so not knowing where to look and find right away.
I somehow messed up my max memory setting from 8196 to 520 in the system configuration under the 'Boot' tab. Every time I try to restart my laptop, it said bad_system_config_error. How to change back my max memory setting to default. Btw, I'm using lenovo y510p and my os is windows 10.
My default configuration is powered speakers connected via the optical output on the ZXR. So in control panel, the S/PDIF is my default device. I'd like to be able to also switch to headphones without having to change control panel sound settings. Is there a configuration that enables me to do this? It seems as if I can't have the s/pdif output my default if I want to use headphones. I'm on Windows 10 with latest software updates.I switched to using the analog outs from the ZXR and not taking advantage of the D/A converters built into my powered speakers (Vanatoo). Not the optimal situation, but it allows me to switch from speakers to headphones without having to go through Control Panel gyrations.
I tried out the Insider Preview 10547 build last night, but chose to roll back to the full Windows 10 Pro build due to not being able to fully apply custom themes and the context menu not coming up on the desktop. Anyway, the rollback went fine, but now for some reason I can't make adjustment to the Start Menu. When my desktop had finished rolling back to the previous build, most of my live tiles had disappeared, specifically the Settings, CMD, and a few other apps I had pinned to the menu. The only tiles that were still showing were the games I'd pinned before applying the 10547. I can't even bring up the Weather, Store, or many other apps by searching for them. The apps still show in Apps and Features under System in Settings, which means the apps are still installed, I just can't seem to access them, although I haven't tried to get to them through a file explorer yet. Also, under Choose which folders appear on Start, every setting is grayed out. I actually rolled back from a previous test build before and everything came up normally, so I'm not sure what happened this time.
Navigating to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Theme Settings, we get to the Personalization window for Themes same as on Win 7. In the window it states "Click a theme to change the desktop background, color, and sounds all at once."
However, the icons normally at the bottom of the window to change those settings are missing. All I can do is save the theme (right click).
My brother set up installed the new windows 10 on the pc and for some reason the pc username is now his name, is registered on his email and also uses his password. I cant seem to change this because everytime i press on "Change Account Settings" a window pops up and then closes right after. no message is shown and no error is visible, what can i do to fix this?
It seems like my Lock Screen wallpaper is stuck on "Windows Spotlight". When I try to change to "Picture" or "Slideshow" in settings nothing happens, and when i choose "Slideshow" and then "Windows Spotlight" the preview turns grey with the loading indicator and nothing more happens.
Would really like to be able to choose my own lock screen wallpaper, though Spotlight is a pretty cool feature.
In Windows 7 I could copy my network settings to a usb stick and transfer it to another machine just by clicking on the file generated - really simple. But I can't find the same option in Win 10 -
I have a Compaq CQ61-410 Notebook. After upgrading to Windows 10 I no longer have WiFi capabilities. In Windows - Settings - Network & Internet I do not have a WiFi option listed. However, if I go to Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections I see my wireless service listed. I have confirmed that I have the correct drivers loaded - Qualcomm Atheros. When I diagnose this connection I get the following message:
There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapterWindows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.
