Networking :: Error Code 0x80070035 - Network Path Was Not Found
Dec 20, 2015
I am unable to access one of three computers on my local network via File Explorer. I can access the other two and I can access a network local external drive.
The error is : error code 0x80070035 the network path was not found
This expands into: one or more network protocols are missing on this computer windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing...
The post from SimBy in Network Protocols says to disable netbios over TCP/IP. I don't know how to do that.
I have two computers, both run Windows 10, One runs Pro and the other Home (odd considering both were free upgraded from 7 Pro, but that is a currently unanswered for 2 month question for Microsoft to resolve...). Onto business, my main PC (Triton hereon out) spontaneously throws the 0x80070035 (network path not found) error. The other PC (Prometheus) is always on, its always connected. To add insult to injury, there is nearly always an open VNC connection (Prometheus runs headless, no monitor, hence VNC), so I know the computer is connected at all times and it is at least visible in one way as the VNC connection never drops. This problem has been going on since I got the free 10 upgrade. Both previously used Windows 7 Pro and had no connection problems with each other.
So here is what I have tried so far. - Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP - Restart both PCs - Exit homegroups and make a new one - Uninstall VirtualBox incase it was trying to use its (VirtualBox) imaginary network on both machines (both are now running it again though after it didn't work) - Disabling / exiting VNC Viewer/Server on both servers before connecting
The only odd thing I have noticed is my router/modem in one has six IPv6 addresses for Prometheus, whilst Triton only has two. Both have one IPv4 assigned, see this image for info. If it matters, I connect to Prometheus via VNC by name 'Prometheus' instead of its local IP. Incase Windows does it a different way? remember this is spontaneous, sometimes (i'd say about 30% of the time) it connects and I can view and copy/edit Prometheous' files no questions asked, the other times it will throw this error but after a few tries it will let me in.
Everything about my network worked fine on Windows 8. With Windows 10 I have been unable to access PC's on my router. Internet work fine, I see the PC's on network in homegroup, But gives me the dreadful and nonsensical error:
Worth noting that my windows 8 laptop can access these computers no problem. but my windows 10 pc's can access ANY pc's
I have two computers that I'm trying to get to communicate with each other so I can move files back and forth between them. My plan is to make one of them the home's backup and main storage system. the problem is that I can only seem to get one of them to actually communicate equally. Computer 1 is a factory Lenovo Intel i3 computer. Computer 2 is a home made AMD that I just built a few weeks ago.
Both are running Win 10 Pro. Both are physically attached to the router. Heck, they're physically stacked on each other on my desk....
Using File Explorer, on the left side Panel under Network, it shows both computers: AMD and Lenovo.
Computer 1(factory) is able to the files on Computer 2 easily by going over through File Explorer. But, if I click on one of the files, I get the message that I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION. If I try to cut/Paste files from Computer 1 to computer 2, I get the same message.
Computer 2. I am also able to see the computer listed under Network in the left panel. When I click on Computer 1 to access it, I get a Network Error Windows cannot access Lenovo (Computer1) Error code 0x80070035
I've tried the Diagnose option and it doesn't work.
If I click on a Drive under Network on the very computer, I can see the drives, I can see the directory list. If I click on a file, I get the error. Example on the left side panel on my AMD computer I select:
>AMD >C: >PerfLogs
It's at this point that I get the error: Windows cannot access amdcPerfLogs as an example
I've tried running through Homegroup setup and Googled for days on setting up a network with Windows 10 and can't seem to figure out what I'm not doing here to make these computers talk and communicate with each other. I eventually, want to get all my computers to talk to the AMD so I can use it for a main storage/backup for the home network.
My problem is when I typically save or open a file with the Windows file dialog on any Windows 10 machine, and I try to go to that machine through the network path //MyNAS/MyFiles, it initially gives me a cannot connect or find error. Is this due to the dialog not waking up the drives on the NAS? Something is obviously asleep here, and I usually end up opening Total Commander or Windows Explorer to "wake up" the connection and then everything works. I don't mind waiting, but I'd like the dialogs to hold tight until it connects, not give me not found or cannot connect.
There is an update available for windows update. But when i try windows shows no updates found with an error code 8024402F ... Why am I not getting an update for Windows 10?
Whenever I try to access a folder or save a file, I get the message "Windows cannot access PCDocuments. I am not doing this on a network, just on my Windows 10 PC. When I click cancel the error message goes away and the folder opens. Actual error message attached.
My desktop and laptop are both running Windows 10, and I sign into both computers using my e-mail address and password from Office 365. On each computer I have enabled sharing for each drive with the permissions I want. I am not using the HomeGroup feature because I want to share entire drives, and support for HomeGroup says it shares a very limited set of folders.
When I try to access either computer from the other, it asks for my credentials and I give the same e-mail and password I use to sign in. The response from Windows is "The specified network password is not correct."
I have seen a number of posts about this message, but no solutions that worked for me. Many solutions involve entering the computer name as the domain, which I don't think is applicable, since I am signing in with my Microsoft e-mail. I tried entering the computer name anyway, and it did not work. I have also tried updating my credentials with the Credential Manager, and (when that did not work) deleting the credentials and re-entering them when asked, still to no avail.
I have w10, running a static ip address through time warner cable in Ohio. Time warner said they had a problem on their end, ever since then I can't connect to our security cameras. I run a powerline from the house to the office., have reset my computer, modem and wireless router. Still getting the same error - one or more network protocols are missing from this computer. I tried talking with time warner cable - no go!
Well I thought I had this problem solved! I had the same exact issue running Windows 7 so I upgraded to 10. It worked for a few times and now each time I restart, the 3 mapped drives I have show the dreaded RED X. This pc worked perfectly prior to me installing a new Samsung SSD after cloning my OS.
I have a Synology NAS connected via Ethernet and have 3 mapped drives to it (each a separate folder, one for music, movies, and pics). All I have to do is double click the mapped drive and it open right away and the Red X disappears until the next reboot.
Any solid solution or a bat file that will fix my issue? I am not saavy when it comes to this type of thing. I need the mapped drives to work upon startup being I use this pc to load XBMC / Kodi for video playback. Kodi is in my startup folder and when the pc boots up, in Kodi I cannot access the files being the mapped drives are not accessible until I click them. Its a PITA...
This pc is in the basement and I rarely go down there so I boot it up via a WOL app and never have to touch a thing on it hence my dilemma!
Is it possible the SSD loads to quickly and the mapped drives are not visible yet?
Earlier today I tried to rebuild the windows search index, only to find out that I currently have no locations indexed. I also cannot modify to add any new locations. Windows search troubleshooter shows the following results:
I went to services and tried to start the windows search service, only to be given an error message about the path specified not existing. This doesn't make any sense because I can literally see the windows search executable:
Trying to fix this error I am getting it says the procedure called failed everytime i try to open my file explorer on windows 10 so i ran some of these cmd prompts that someone suggested an this is what it is telling me the source file cannot be found error 0x800f081f. here is the log file that cmd saved for me. I even did a computer reset that did not work the error came back again.
I just updated my media center to version 1511 of windows 10. Via wifi, downloaded and installed ok i thought. But have found i cannot see any wireless networks. Normally about 7 up in my area.
I've tried uninstalled the device and installing it again. I've tried checking for newer drivers, but isn't any. I've tried resetting these in command prompt (admin) net sch advfirewall, int ip, int ipv6, winsock and rebooted afterwards. I've tried plugging the usb wifi adapter into a different usb port. I've tried restarting the Router. Mobile phone picks up wifi in the same room.
I installed Win 10 a few weeks ago and today is the first time that I've turned it on since then. I checked for Windows updates and it found some and appeared to start to download and install them. Then the window disappeared and I checked for updates again. "RuntimeBroker.exe Element not found". What does this mean in Microsoftese?
I have a k430 Lenovo desktop. When I got home last night, I was greeted to a blank white screen that was unresponsive. When I restarted my computer (holding down power button) it gave me this error. I've tried swapping my SATA cable with an older computers cable, and a couple other fixes with the BIOS recommended from the Lenovo site, and I even tried running my windows 8 install disc to no avail. I can feel the hard drive working by touch. I tried booting in 'legacy' and it said no hard disk was detected.
Just upgraded to Win 10 and kept losing internet access. After troubleshooting my home network is now named "Network 2". How do I change the name to "Network 1 "?
After I uninstalled catalyst control centre (because I was having problems with it). When I restarted my mouse and keyboard weren't working. So I tried a ps2 kb and mouse and this worked. I went to device manager a looked at the USB devices, all of them had a yellow warning sign next to the devices. I checked each one and they all had error 39 (missing or corrupted drivers). I tried updating and uninstalling the devices with no avail. How can I fix this?
I upgraded to W10 a few weeks ago from W7. All went well.
Then 2 days ago i got the windows error code oxc000021a, and the computer wouldn't start. Couldn't get into safe mode, and repair didn't work either. Really annoying. I've had to reinstall windows 7. I can still see my windows 10 old install saved under windows.old.
I don't have any option yet to re-upgrade to W10, despite putting all the updates on W7 again. What can I do to get W10 again and recover my data from windows.old?
