Networking :: Frequent Limited Connectivity?
Dec 10, 2015
Basically every time I turn on my laptop (1year old) , after a while (1 hour or even 5 minutes), connection turns limited on every other device in my house! The only thing I can do is to turn off and on my modem.
It ONLY happen with my notebook. I have tried to update/reinstall the Wi-Fi drivers, I formatted a couple of times, I even asked HP to look at it and they replaced my wireless card.. Nothing seems to work. I even purchased an external Wi-Fi adapter, and even with that, after 3-4 hours I had limited connectivity!
Computer's model is HP 15 r117nl, windows 10

I've just updated to 10 after getting my computer back up after moving, and for the most part have really been liking it. Here are a couple of the more annoying issues I've been having:
1) Every time I restart/shut down/reboot my computer, upon logging into windows my Wi-Fi has 'limited' connectivity to my router. I use a belkin USB wi-fi adapter, and have been for years with no issues like this. Windows 10 is the only new guy to the party. The only way I'm able to get it to work is to click disconnect, wait a few seconds, then click connect.
2) I can only run my Outlook 10 as administrator, which you can't do from icons on the task bar, and which also blocks some functionality within the program. When I try to run it w/out administrator it says I don't have permission to access one of my email addresses' .pst folder (yahoo). No error when I run as administrator, though.

Windows troubleshooter reports that "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer".
Some other info: I am unable to connect to 192.168.0.1, which is my router's home page. I can load this page on my laptop if i connect my laptop with ethernet, so the router is fine.

I've installed the 1511 update (threshold 2) on my desktop computer. It has always worked correctly with my dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 LAN, with both Windows 8 and Windows 10. Now, after the update, it will initially have IPv6 working after I reboot. Then, after a few minutes, IPv6 will stop working, and I see "no internet connectivity" for IPv6 from the Network and Sharing connection properties, even though the other clients in my house still have IPv6 connectivity.
So far, I've tried using netsh to reset the winsock catalog and the tcp stack, and have installed the latest network interface driver from the OEM. I also tried disabling IPv4, and seeing if the network troubleshooter could get the IPv6 connectivity going. That didn't work, either.
At this point, this behavior is a mystery to me. Right now, no IPv6 on this desktop. If I rebooted the computer, IPv6 connectivity would be restored for a few minutes... How to troubleshoot this one, it's just strange.

I just (Dec. 19, 2015) completed the latest update to Windows 10, had trouble with my volume icon, fixed it, then found my wifi icon is stuck in airplane mode despite the laptop having full wifi functionality. Tried turning system icons on and off through the "task bar and start menu properties" dialog box, tried various combinations of "on" and "off" while restarting the entire system, nothing works. I've connected and reconnected wirelessly by both using a physical button (shaped like an antenna emitting parentheses-shaped waves) and by using the icon that's now stuck in airplane mode. I can access the internet, but I can't see the status in the task bar as I used to. All I see is the icon shaped like an airplane, even while I'm clearly not in airplane mode and when I should therefore be seeing the wifi icon.

Here is the setup that I have. I have a wireless network. I have two Toshiba laptops, one running Windows 7 and the other running Windows 10 and I have a printer.
I continually lose connection to the home network although I am still connected to the internet on both laptops. This happens about every 10 or 15 minutes. The only way I've found to re-establish the network connection is to reboot both of the laptops.
I live in a very rural area and only have one option for internet access. It is through the phone company and all they offer is one of those 3G data card things that looks like a little USB data stick. The signal at my house is terrible, in fact, there is only one corner of my house that has a signal and that is where I have my wireless router. It is two rooms away from my computers. But the distance doesn't seem to be a problem for internet connection.
I complained to the phone company about the terrible signal and the woman there suggested that I use my Samsung phone as a router. I took the chip out of the data stick and put it in the phone. And it does work much better than the little Zoom router that I had been using. I do not know anything about the settings in the phone. The lady showed me which buttons to push on the phone to turn the phone on so it can find the signal.
I would prefer to know what I can do to keep it connected but if that fails, then I need to know how to re-connect to the network without rebooting either one or both of the laptops.

Problem trying to connect to internet on laptop, but all working as normal on desktop.
Investigations revealed....one or more Network Protocols are missing on this computer, also Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing....this on both Ethernet and wireless but they had been working perfectly since the update last week.
My laptop supposedly required "Internet connections Package Version 3.0 Publisher Microsoft Windows."
After messing about for an hour without success I loaded the 1511.. ISO.. knowing that I could not connect to the internet to download anything, this seemed to solve the problem, (fingers crossed) I can only assume this made the internet connection possible.

I've installed windows 10, but I've got a strange problem. My WiFi connection randomly gets limited for one second. It isn't so bad, when I'm browsing, but if I wanna download something... that's terrible :S 'cause when the wifi stops, the download stops too... What can I do? I think it's not my laptops problem, because before win10 - on windows 8.1 - it worked fine. If it matters something, it gets limited in about every 5 or 10 minutes.

I downloaded windows 10 the first day I was able to access the internet. Now it's saying its limited. I troubleshooted and it says it does not have valid IP configuration and in the wireless connection it says unidentified network. It says public network shouldn't it be on private? Need straightening this out. Like I said it worked fine one day and now its says no interternt and limited. Sigh.

So i was accessing the internet fine on my computer no more than an hour ago on the same network im on my laptop now with and then i restarted my computer and it give me limited access and i cannot connect to the internet. I reinstalled my wifi card driver and that didn't work. The Network and Internet troubleshooter said it was the driver and could not fix the problem itself.

I updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1
Connection to Internet through Wi-Fi is not happening after that though it is happening via LAN Cable.
Whenever I try to connect through Wi-Fi it gets stuck showing Limited Connectivity and No Internet Access.
I went through some threads and found that it can be solved by disabling "Block Internet Connection Sharing" setting in Bit Defender but I am not using Bit Defender.
I am using Windows Defender instead and am not able to find such setting in that.

So, my wireless router went out on me yesterday during a thunderstorm, which I replaced today. My desktop will not connect to the wireless network at all. I have it connected right now, through my cellphone's hot spot. Also, I can connect my phone to the wireless network as well as a different desktop and get internet access, which suggests something wrong with this desktop, I would imagine.
Network Adapters:
ASUS PCE-N10 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card
Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet
I'm sure some additional information may be needed but I'm not sure what you would need, so I'll gladly provide what I can if needed.

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10. Since then, I can not connect to Internet at all. The cable says no Internet when connected and wifi says limited access when connected. I am posting this through my phone because my laptop keeps saying limited access.

Today I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, and since then - it's only causing problems. When I boot up my computer, I have internet connection for a few minutes only. Then, the Internet disconnects, probably due to incompatible drivers or missing drivers, or something else regarding.
Although my computer is not connected to the internet, my Android device can still be connected to the same network, using Wi-Fi, which means - the problem is with Windows 10.
I tried to turn off and on the router, and to turn off and on the PC. I tried both actions several times. I also looked at the adapters list, and there discovered that the Ethernet adapter he is disabled, so I re-enable it.. This action only works one time, because then doctor turns off again, and then I must reboot the computer in order to get internet. again.
I also tried to right click the adapter and choose Diagnose. It has a chance to solve the problem with the internet one time per boot - but still then, for a limited time until the internet stops working again.
I also tried to enter the troubleshoot wizard for network adapters, but I don't remember it solved something.
I also tried to install the Broadcom NetLink driver, provided by Dell, and even restart the PC, but it didn't solve the problem.

Today, when i opened my PC i found out that i have "No internet connection". The last time i used it was last night, and it worked like a charm. The problem is from the software itself I guess because other devices seem to be working fine connected to the internet. This also happened to me while using windows 8.1 but I got it fixed everytime with a simple "netsh" command. Now things aren't this simple, i tried multiple fixes and none of them worked. I tried to update the driver from the device manager but i can't find the microsoft and the producer driver, instead i find some outdated drives from like 2013.

Yesterday i installed Windows 10, all was fine, but after hour of working, i saw that my wifi connection goes to limited and i don't have internet acces. I need to disconnect and connect and it works for 30-45 minutes, and then again go to limited. I have windows 7 before, and there i don't have this problem, but when i tried windows 8(half year ago) i have same issue.
I have Hp pavillion g7-1307sm laptop.
Motherboard: HP 1672
I think it's maybe problem with my network adapter driver( Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter ), because i think it's old. It is from 15/08/2012. Version: 6.30.59.49

I have a laptop with Windows 10, and it has been working fine for months. Yesterday I thought I had a connection issue with the Internet, and set the computer aside until it was resolved. Later I checked my phone, and saw that the WiFi is actually working just fine. I have restarted and reset and tried to connect to Hotspots and all sorts of netsh commands.

Every so often Windows 10 will give a notification about Limited Network Access on a wired Ethernet connection. The notification is not true as I am able to use non-Microsoft applications such as Firefox just fine with the Internet. However Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Windows Updates, Edge and IE do not detect an Internet connection and are unusable. I found that if I turn off real-time protection in Windows Defender and then reboot the computer it clears the error for a time but it always comes back within a day or two.

My internet was working fine for quite a while after upgrading to win10, but one day both the wifi and ethernet stopped working. They both show a limited connection, or sometimes even fail to identify the network. The error message in the troubleshooter for both ethernet and wifi is 'doesn't have a valid ip configuration'. I have tried rebooting and resetting the router, re-installing network drivers, and restarting everything involved.
The wifi card is called "TP-LINK Wireless PCI Express Adapter" and the ethernet adapter is "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and is connected by a Cat5e ethernet cable.

Since a little over a week or so I have been experiencing frequent BSOD when playing games (these include Witcher 3, WoW, CSGO....). The main ones that show up are:
-Memory managment
-PFN_List_Corrupt
-System_Service_exception
Sometimes it only crashes to my desktop but overall they are very frequent and quite annoying. It occurs both when I have several programs running at once but also when only a single program is up. The computer is new, have only had it for around 2 months.
My drivers are all up to date, I have run virus and malware scans which have not come up with anything. The errors to me seem to point to a RAM issue (although I quite honestly know nothing about these things) so I ran the windows memory diagnostic which did not come up with any errors.
My Rig is:
Windows 10 x64
AMD FX(tm)- 8350 eight core processor
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970
Crucial 8 GB Sport Ballistix 240 Pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module
Dump File : 090215-24546-01.dmp
Crash Time : 02-Sep-15 7:30:47 PM
Bug Check String : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Bug Check Code : 0x0000000a
Parameter 1 : 00000000`00000048

During gaming, I get constant BSOD's with similar error messages. It usually occurs within 5-20 minutes. The computer then reboots and another BSOD always occurs again after i login to my computer. Subsequently another BSOD usually occurs straight after this and completely turns my computer off. These BSOD'S include page non fault, iqrl, memory management, system thread exception (all of the top of my head). I can't recall it happening whilst not gaming and thus I assumed the problem would tend to the GPU which is fully updated. I also ran memtest with a return of no errors and also took each RAM out at a time but still got the error so RAM shouldn't be the problem. I've updated every driver in device manager.

Running a one-month old clean Win 10 install.
I find that my desktop icons frequently lose their shortcut symbol (the little white square with curved blue arrow), or otherwise change. I haven't tried to figure out when or why this happens. It shouldn't. An icon, once placed, shouldn't change.
The fix is to right-click on an open spot and select "refresh".

I have had no problems what so ever with this computer running Win 7 Pro for a very long time (2+ years) and when I moved to Win 10 Pro I get these BSOD Critical_Process_Died crashes while browsing the internet using Fire Fox. After the BSOD it will reboot and I can use again but then after a while (maybe an hour) it crashes again. I have recently updated to Win 10 and all drivers were at that time updated. I have to admit I wish there was a better way to determine when a new driver is available for your hardware.
