View 9 RepliesAfter upgrading my surface PRO to windows 10 today it doesn't seem to be able to connect to the network. Going in to setup a connection windows displays the error "windows did not detect any networking hardware". I enabled, disabled, re-enabled, and re-installed the network adapter but it didn't seem to work.
View 16 RepliesI have been attempting to run a USB Network Adapter on my new computer, but I get an error saying that it has no driver.
I've been trying to find a way to work around this error, but I have had no success.
Here is the Hardware Ids:

I tested the internal HDD with CrystalDiskMark and was able to get 109 MBPS both on sequential read and write tests. Then, when I tested my 1 TB WD My Passport USB 3.0 External HDD with CrystalDiskMark the sequential read and write speed did not exceed 40 MBPS the few times I tried. Got similar 30-40 MBPS speed when transferring movies from external HDD to internal HDD.So far, I have tried updating the external HDD and USB 3.0 Controller drivers. Tried with 'USB selective suspend setting' disabled (Under Power Plan Options). Also tried with write caching enabled. But havent been able to solve the issue. My laptop is running Win 10 Home 64-Bit. I am sure I used the USB 3.0 port. And, I used the USB 3.0 cable supplied with the external HDD. I don't have another USB 3.0 device so cannot figure out whether the issue is with my laptop of the external HDD.'

I ran into an issue with the installation disc not detecting the hard drive (ie, no hard drive is listed when the screen appears to select the hard drive to install Windows on).
I've tried various drivers (latest from HP and Intel website, OEM OS installation discs etc) with no luck.. at the very least, the Windows 7 driver from HP's website for that laptop should work for installing Windows 7- same results, does not detect hard drive.
At this point I'm wondering if maybe it's a BIOS setting that's causing this? I don't recall changing anything in the BIOS when I last installed Windows (which was v8), but it was awhile ago, so can't be certain.
i just built my pc and installed a fresh windows 10, i tried to connect ethernet cable to my pc but win 10 still cant detect the cable.
View 1 RepliesInstead of doing an upgrade of Windows in place, I am trying to do a install from the ISO using EasyBCD.The ISO launches fine as the setup starts but Windows refuses to see my HDD.I have an Elitebook 9470 laptop.
It uses the Intel storage drivers for AHCI and the HDD itself (Intel SSD)Bios is set to use UEFI Hybrid (With CSM).
BIOS can not use UEFI (without CSM) mode as the system does not boot.Tested using Legacy mode and still unable to see HDD. BIOS version is F60 (Jan 2015) and is the latest.
I have tried both front and rear inputs and still no success. My PC won't recognize my headphones being plugged in. They're headphones with a USB and 2 jacks (speakers and mic), and when plugged in the green light is active on the headphones showing their working/have power. Changing the connector to a solo jack, I can plug it into my PS4 / iPhone and it works fine. However on my PC it doesn't work, despite it working completely fine for 2 weeks until 2 days ago.
I've tried going to device manager and updating drivers, and I've also tried managing audio settings and making it my default device but the PC is not picking up the headphones exist, even after ticking Show Disabled Devices. In device managers, the headphones aren't under "Sound, video and game controllers", "Audio inputs and outputs", or "Unknown Devices" (as I have no Unknown Devices menu). I do not have RealTek Audio Manager. These are the solutions that worked for most people but not myself.
The events that led to this error was last night I was trying to watch a film but my TV (which is my monitor) speakers weren't working. After updating sound drivers and realising they were for some reason disabled, I re-enabled them and they worked fine. However, disabling them again does not fix the problem. The PC does not pick up the headphones at all, mic or sound. I do believe that it is an issue with the newest drivers I installed after upgrading to Windows 10 three days ago. The headphones worked fine on Windows 10, but I believe the issue is with the new drivers I installed to make my TV speakers work.
Windows 10 is very slow to detect all USB devices I connect to it, whereas Windows 8.1 was nearly instant.
Since upgrading, it takes about a minute for Windows to realize that I have connected a device to it.
My acer notebook after upgrade from win8.1 to win10, my ethernet port keep disconnected and sometimes cant detect cable till i restart ny notebook. reinstall driver still same..
View 1 RepliesI've just downloaded Windows 10 from their official website to my USB, and I didn't choose an .ISO file, I did choose a setup (USB option).
The problem is that I want to prove it via VirtualBox but I can't find any way to make virtualbox detect my usb (also tried with plop boot manager).
I have a new all in one desktop. I want to use the monitor as an extenal screen for my laptop. I connect the hmdi lead from the laptop to the AiO hdmi input socket. The laptop 'sees' the external monitor (Fn and F5 tells me this) but the monitor will not detect the laptop.
View 1 RepliesI have a Toshiba Sattelite C75D-B Laptop that I did a clean Windows 10 install on, after upgrade. Should I need to install a graphics driver? Or would the Windows 10 Media Creation tool disk I burned have installed the proper one?
If not, I have always used nvidia on my homebuilt systems, but this laptop has a AMD A6 sticker on the top. So does it use AMD Radeon Graphics?
If so, can I use the "Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver" function on the AMD site?
When I go to a web sit, windows can't open it. when I run troubleshoot I get the message : windows can't detect networks proxy settings. I only have this problem since I downloaded windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI have a Lenovo Y470 that I upgraded to Win10 about a month ago. All worked fine until today when the WiFi randomly disconnected. Now I can't even detect my network (yes it is broadcasting the SSID). I can see my neighbors networks.
My other devices can detect and connect to my network fine. I've tried rebooting router, renaming ssid, reinstalling network adapter, deleting the ssid from registry..
I am getting a lot of "network change detected" error with Chrome recently. The page won't load properly ie I get a list of links with no graphics instead of the usual page with graphics. I have to reload and sometimes this works. Other times I have to exit chrome and then it will be fine.
I have already removed auto speed negotiation and changed to 1Gb/s . I am using ethernet connection. I am also using fixed IP outside DHCP range. Also cleared Cache etc . It seems the only way to fix this "temporarily" is to reboot the Modem which is Linksys E4200. By temporarily I mean for a few days , then it starts again .
I never had this problem with Win 8.1 . Happens only after Win 10 update...
Whenever I shut down my computer, I always have this problem. The Windows 10 insignia and the loading circle beneath will appear, then the screen will fade to black, and then my monitor says it can't detect my computer. I then have to unplug my computer from the outlet because I can't shut it down by pressing the power button. When I start it up again afterwards, it will start perfectly fine. And whenever I try to change the boot configurations, it automatically resets itself to the previous version.

My drivers failed to install correctly, my computer black-screened during the install of them when I was using Driver Booster. Now my PC isn't detecting my second HDD. It is in BIOS, but not in Device Manager. It is not showing up in all utilities, even if I show hidden ones. The stupid program didn't create a backup and I can't tell for sure what drivers it has broken.
I think some were Human Interface Devices, Universal Serial Bus Controllers, some SATA controllers and some others, can't tell. It also isn't showing up where you format and partition drives, windows just straight up can't detect that it is connected. I have tried Windows Repair, didn't work. I can't find any info, I don't have a way to roll-back. Will resetting my PC even work? Now I can't access my main drive, how can I reset these basic drivers without being able to rollback? I have seen some mention of uninstalling drivers such as...
"I had similar problem with my added disk drive when I upgraded. I had to go to device manager IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and delete all ATA channels, back out and restart. Let Windows find all ATA devices and there were both my disk drives.."
But I am not certain whether it is safe to uninstall that driver or others. All my files are on that drive. My PC now cant detect my on-board SSD too and it cannot detect my CD-ROM too. Would resetting my BIOS reset the those base drivers?
I have a MSI GS60 ghost pro gaming laptop which has Intel HD graphics 4600 and Nvidia GTX970M GPU, CPU i7 4720HQ, running Windows 10. I study abroad, several months ago i went back home and plugged-in my laptop to the TV via HDMI for gaming like normal. Yesterday i bought an ASUS VC239H external monitor and tried to do the same thing, but there is no HDMI input signal, the Laptop cannot detect the monitor (include display settings, intel HD graphics settings, nvidia settings). This is what i tried:
- Fn+f2, Fn+f8 keys, windows P switching to duplicate or extend or anykind of options
- plug the monitor into my friend's laptop with windows 8 through that HDMI cable and it works fine, the same with other laptop running windows 7==> cable and monitor are normal
- plug my laptop to my neighbor's smart TV. There was ''connected' symbol which appears on the TV but black screen instead of image, Laptop couldn't detect the TV
- reinstalling nvidia and onboard-graphics drivers and update to the latest
- Made a clean install of windows, tried windows 8 also but the same result
- Updated my BIOS and EC
- Bought an adapter HDMI-Mini Displayport to use the mini displayport with HDMI cable
nothing works
Just realised that, since I upgraded from Win 7 64 Home Premium to Win 10, it has not detected the laptop's Bluetooth device. It doesn't even feature as a device in Device Manager ... not even one with a problem.
View 7 RepliesAnyhow I am currently using windows 7 (not a fan of windows 8). Since windows 10 is released I wanted to install and try it. Initially I installed windows 8.1 in my D: drive (works normally as far as I can tell), and upgrade it to windows 10. I am keeping my windows 7 in drive C: as I do not have any other working computer if the installation failed.
So halfway upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10, the upgrade failed and a restart is needed. When restarting I tried to reset the installation but even that is failed. When restarted again there is no operating system in that drive (drive D: ) ??
Currently I tried to reformat my drive D: (windows 10) with my current windows 7 (installed in drive C) but it says the volume is in use by another process but it refused.
Summary
Drive C: - windows 7, still functioning properly
Drive D - where windows 8.1 is located and upgraded to windows 10 but failed, currently cannot detect any os when I boot from drive D: , and cant format the drive.
I know its really complicated the way i installed my windows 8.1 with my windows 7 intact, but I'm worried if the installation failed, I have no backup computer to fall back.
This issue happened after I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on my HP computer. We also have another older Dell computer, on which this issue did not occur after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I followed advise from an IT technician provided about this issue with Windows 8.1 including editing the registry (Internet Settings and Default Connection Settings) and have no trouble accessing the internet. However, typically after every day or every other day (at most after three days) turning my computer on after being off overnight, the internet connection settings revert back from automatically detect settings to proxy server.
I do not use a proxy server and cannot access the internet when this occurs. This keeps happening even though I go back and reedit the register. What can be done to permanently fix this problem? I am currently using Internet Explorer 11 instead of Edge until Microsoft comes out with their update in early November that allows extensions. I use Norton 360 and cannot use this program with Edge until extensions are allowed, because of security on the internet.
Since this does not happen with the Dell computer, I checked the settings mentioned by the IT Technician and found that the following Internet Settings were not present in the registry: ProxyHttp.1 (or ProxyHttp1_1) and ProxyServer. Will it harm my HP computer if I delete these two from the registry so that the Internet Settings will be the same as those on the Dell computer, which as pointed out above does not have this problem? Also, for ProxyServer the IT technician indicated that there should be no value for this in the registry.
My laptop suddenly crashed and now it says "Boot media missing" when I restarted. After that, it always takes me to "Preparing Automatic Repair" and then the 'Troubleshoot' menu.
In the 'Troubleshoot' menu, it has two options: 'Reset this PC' and 'Advanced options'.
When I choose "Reset this PC", it asks me whether to keep my files or remove everything. I've tried both and it displays an error. When I choose to keep my files, it says that drive is locked and tells me to unlock the drive and try again. When I choose to remove everything, it says that there is a problem resetting the PC.
And then I've moved to "Advanced options". The options are: System Restore, System Image Recovery, Startup Repair, Command Prompt, UEFI Firmware Settings, and Go back to previous build. I've tried all of these and it all returned an error. When I chose UEFI Settings, it restarted to BIOS/UEFI setting. And my BIOS/UEFI can't detect my hard drive. DISKPART from Command Prompt can't detect it either.
My project is due in 3 days and I've got all my files in there. Is there a way to fix this? Or to recover my files?
I am trying to write a script to detect all docking stations and monitors attached to those docking station for Lenovo Thinkpad t540p laptops on a domain network. Most of the monitors are Asus. Is this even possible? Running powershell from DEV WIN 10
View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 and have been encountering problems since then. When I try to access any website using my mobile's hotspot all the browsers except firefox show the same message that is "Can’t connect to the proxy server".
So I went into proxy setting and saw that whole area was grayed out and at the top was a message saying "Some setting are managed by your organisation ". The first option in proxy settings is "Automatically detect setting" and it was turned on but because it was grayed out, I couldn't change it.Then I typed internet options in the search bar and clicked on it and a dialogue box appeared and in it I click connections tab and right at the bottom was a message saying "Some settings are managed by your system administrator.
I went into LAN settings and there too everything was grayed out and the automatically detect settings box was checked here too. This problem is not confined only to browsers but my in my Steam account I cannot update my games and also when I try to access news from the steam client it gives and error code.I did a bit of research about that code and found that it was related to proxy.Even my windows update is not working. Every time I try to update it it just stucks at 0% for hours.
