On my home network, the other Win 10 PC is suddenly showing in my taskbar near the task view icon. I like the idea and would like to set the other Win 10 machine to do the same but I can't find out how or why it decided to show up.

Not a massive issue as I don't use the store much but it is quite annoying as it only happens sometimes.
I believe all my drivers are up to date... the MOBO is a asus b85m-itx..
Why suddenly out of the blue my network quit showing one of my computers? I have a tablet and laptop both with windows 10. my tablet still shows both computers, but my laptop no longer shows the tablet. I didn't change anything. What can cause this and how do I fix it?
View 4 RepliesI have a laptop running Windows 7 that is connected to a printer. I am connected to the internet using a WiFi connection. I have a homegroup called workgroup. My wife has a laptop running Windows 7, connects to the internet using the same WiFi modem and prints using the printer on my laptop.
I downloaded Windows 10 on to my Windows 7 laptop and all of a sudden my wife can't print anymore. Microsoft, you've done it again. How I hate this!
I fooled around with HomeGroup settings on the Windows 10 laptop and the system attributes on my wife's laptop and now I can see her computer on my Windows 10 system. But I cannot see the printer on my system from her laptop.
I tried to click on my compueter from her laptop and I get a request for username and password. I don't know what username and password to use. I gather from reading the forum that I should put the name of my laptop in the username but I don't know where to look for the password.
My taskbar icons are suddenly showing the wrong app. This is a screenshot the taskbar with an open a PDF, it is showing the icon for Photoshop:

Lately I've been having a problem where the applications don't show they're open. I know they are and they open fine, they just don't show the grey/transparent box around them indicating they are open. Like in this picture : [URL] ...
Pretty irritating. I'm not sure what I did to cause it, the only major changes that I've made to my computer are some basic mods to video games, and a couple of regedit's for icon arrows.
I've looked for a forum / article on this and have yet to find one describing my issue. Have gone through the task bar properties and display settings, multitasking settings etc.

I’d like to just be able to point the folder to a location on a networked laptop so that I don’t have to maintain and use the space on each machine. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to accomplish this. Any similar method that achieves the same thing would be great. I’d rather not use “cloud space” for this although I know it’s an alternative.
View 4 RepliesWhat i mean is when i move the mouse cursor over an app window in taskbar if it's a game in the passed i saw the game running/playing in the small window of the app or if it's a program. Now i need to click on it and enter to it to see what is going on with it.
Now the problem is only with battlefield bad company 2 when the game is running in the background instead clicking on it's icon to enter it and see what is going i want that when i move the mouse cursor over it it should show me in the small window the game. But instead i see only white small window.
I have installed all updates on my windows 8.1 but I still don't see the little reserve windows 10 button on the end of my taskbar, how I can get it so I can reserve windows 10...
View 1 RepliesRight clicking Google Chrome on my taskbar in Windows 10 isn't showing up with any options such as Incognito mode or my recent/common tabs. I recently refreshed my PC after having issues with Windows 10, before refreshing right clicking chrome only gave me incognito, no recent tabs section. I lived with it since it didn't bother me too much but now that I've refreshed it's gotten worse by giving me less options. Right clicking chrome on my taskbar now only shows: Google Chrome, unpin, and close window. how I could fix this?

View 9 RepliesI'll have connections available on my computer (Windows 10 Home 64-Bit HP) but whenever I click the connection menu, they don't show up, which means I have to reset the modem, wait the 15 minutes it takes, and then the connections FINALLY show up. Once I'm connected however, if I click the menu again, the connections wont show up. The image I've connected shows what I'm talking about. I can wait for a long time and connections still don't show up. I was wondering if there's a way to troubleshoot this without resetting the modem every time I want to use my computer.

Rebooting my WD MyCloud solves the problem until next time I reboot my Win10 c.
I am connected to a wireless network but the connection is not showing on the Network and Sharing Center active networks. Also, I am unable to change my Network Location from Public to Private as there is no link on the Home-group page. I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and already updated wifi drivers.
View 2 RepliesWe have recently updated our four work computers to windows 10. Mine shows none of the network computers or printers under network. Under printers it shows one of our four printers but says driver unavailable and the spooler is not working.
I can get onto two of the other computers using a link under my quick access bar which was set up on our previous windows, so it can go to these computers, but they are not showing up on the network.
I have googled some of these questions and tried control panel/ administrative tools/ services/ to turn on UPnP Device host to automatic but it wont start and comes up with Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start. Similar for SSDP discovery and Print spooler.
Under change advanced sharing options I pick 'turn on network discovery' but it wont stay on/keeps going back off.
I may be able to find a way to get onto the printers I need but would ideally like everything to show up properly under network.
I have a Seagate 1 terabyte external hdd and windows 10 cant see it.. even when I go to C: drive
and display all drives its not showing. its installed drivers but still cant find it....
When I'm accessing my media library on the computer with my phone it does show all movies/songs in the same folder. I have chosen to share different folders like, E:movies E:kids E:adults C:user*videos. all those folders are shown as only one folder on the device i'm accessing my library with. Sub-folders within the paths does show.
In Windows 7 the folders did not batch up as only one folder, each path was shown separately.
I recently upgraded the 3 machines on my home network to windows 10 home.
Currently when I open up "this PC" and click on network, only one of the 3 computers shows up, and this machine is not the local machine on 2 of them. However If I type in the UNC address for the other machines I can access them.
If I set up a home group all the computers show up in the home group roll out under "this PC" but still not in the network.
Something else that is strange. If I look at "network and sharing center" two of the the computer see one private network name and the other one sees a different name.
I have several server drives mapped to my Surface Pro 3 tablet, and from time to time they disappear from Windows Explorer and XYplorer (an Explorer replacement). They are still there and mapped, as Net Use shows them mapped properly. But to get them tho show up in either Explorer or XYplorer, I have to physically remap them (right click: Map Network Drive...) and when I do so they already show up with the proper drive connection but won't appear unless I finish the remapping. XYplorer has a tool to reconnect all network drives, but nothing happens there.

I don't want that because others are going to be using it here at home.
I don't want any restrictions for accessing this pc.
How do I get rid of the requirement to enter my email password?
p.s. same thing happens when I restart or wake it up from sign out.... it asks for my password.
After the Windows 10 upgrade my computer goes to a black screen with only the cursor showing and nothing else shows....
View 1 RepliesI'm on a Windows 10 Pro PC accessing a linux server with samba etc installed and working well (visible via Homegroup to both Android and Windows 7 pro). From the Win 10 box, if I type the name of the server in Windows File Explorer, then the shares from the server show up without issue. However, if I go into the Network folder, it does not see the linux servers - even though they are correctly configured for the correct homegroup. My windows 7 machines can see the servers in "network" as can my android devices.
Here's a screenshot. Note, the red arrows show what displays in Network folder (red arrows). If I click on the Server Name (HunterNAS in this case), the server shares are displayed and it shows up in the Network folder (blue arrows). Even after making the successful connection, display of another file explorer window > Network folder displays no linux server shares...
