windows 10 installed major updates this morning now I cannot get onto the internet via my range extender this has always been intermittent in the past but could get it to work eventually I have run the connection diagnostics and its telling me there are components missing and will not connect?
if I move rooms so that I am directly linked to the router instead of the extender everything works fine.
Running Windows 10 on a Dell Latitutde I was trying to setup a Netgear Wifi Extender because the Fios Router does not reach all the way to the other side of the house. I did the setup (so I thought) the way the manual told me and my computer was trying to connect to the extender, but it just stayed in "Connecting..." For a long long time. Eventually I gave up and thought I'd hit the reset button on the extender and try again.
Now my wifi adapter finds NO networks. All my other devices see all the networks.
The only other time this has ever happened I had accidentally hit the network adapter switch on the side of the PC, so I'm 100% sure that's not the problem and that it is 'on' in the settings. I've tried restarting the pc several times as well as toggling the adapter on/off, airplane mode on/off, and the switch on the PC on/off.. And it still sees no networks..
Sometimes when I'm gaming online my connection gets lost and my wifi gives me no internet signal but there is internet on my other devices, I solve it by clicking on airplane mode twice (on and off again ) then the Internet comes back . Is there a permanent solution to this ?
View 1 RepliesI installed Windows 10 yesterday on 2 lap tops. Everything was fine, i could access the web. I installed it on a third one this morning. It was seeing the network but said it could not access it. I changed the password in the rooter thinking that it would ask me for the new password has Windows 7 does. But it did not.
Now I also have the same problem on the 3 lap tops. I cannot find the place to put in my password like I did on Windows 7. If I try to access 'manually' it does not recognize either. I know it is not my rooter because I was able to access the new password with an old lap top still on Windows 7 and also with my cell. So password and rooter work fine.
My laptop is for some unknown reason not connecting to the internet via wifi or ethernet. It will also not diagnose the problem as it says The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running and it cannot fix it.

I was trying to fix my rocket league connection so I followed this tutorial to reset the internet options of internet explorer and then to restore the options. I restarted my pc and now I can connect to my WiFi but none of my browsers or applications can access the internet.
View 3 RepliesAfter the free upgrade all worked properly, then i did a clean install (format) with a bootable usb that i made from media center. 6 days now no Internet connection, no wifi option. I think its the common problem with Wifi on Wos 10. As you realize i have only the windows files in my hard drive, the driver for my wireless adapter (Airties 2410) and the intel management center driver. I tried everything from the many possible solutions but not luck for me, even installing older drivers for my wireless adapter.
View 2 RepliesI have my laptop at work and have had no trouble connecting the company WiFi (they have Guest WiFi and a WiFi where you need to enter your company provided Username and Password). I have been connecting using my Username and password. Today I had to change my company login password. Now when I try to connect my laptop I get a "can't connect" message because the password saved in my laptop is no longer valid. But I can't find a place in Win10 to enter my new password.
I remember the first time I logged onto the company WiFi a Windows popup came up asking for my Username and Password (which was saved so I didn't need to enter it again - until now). This time not getting the popup - it just says "can't connect".
I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:
Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.
After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on.
But I'm currently browsing the internet and typing to you.
In fact - I can do virtually everything (League; Steam; Skype; etc) except use any OS feature that requires logging in -
e.g. Mail, User Accounts, Shop, etc. Then it says something along the lines of "Cannot use this service without an internet connection - please connect and try again." When I run Network Diagnostics as the prompt recommends - it says I am connected and cannot find a problem.
It doesn't always happen - but it seems to be determined on start-up. If I restart it now it might be working next launch - but 75% of the time it will encounter the same issue. It's been happening for months now but I've sort of gotten used to using my phone to check my emails - but I've now encountered an issue with one of my hard drives being unable to be searched (tried indexing, etc) and the only step I've found that I haven't tried says it could be a corrupted user account - but I cannot update my user account without "connecting to the internet". -_-
The system is up to date. No driver updates available.
Tried to connect to Wifi today and couldn't find how. When I searched for online assistance I noticed that it directs you to the settings and then the network & Internet tab.Except I don't have that tab in settings. Mine is only Network.
View 6 RepliesI logged onto my laptop as usual this morning and opened up Firefox. However, on trying to open a website it responds as of I'm not connected. My WiFi says 'no Internet, secured'. I tried the mac and it has the same connection issues, but for some reason I can use the WiFi on my phone alright?
View 3 RepliesI am unable to get on the internet via my wireless wi-fi network since a Win 10 update was pushed out to me yesterday, 12/16/15. I get a message to the effect that it took too long to log into my wi-fi.
I first upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7 about 2 months ago on my laptop. I experienced no issues until I was forced to reboot yesterday morning. It took about 5 minutes (or so it seemed) for the updates to install. Since then, every time I try to go to the internet, it times out regardless of which browser (Chrome, Firefox, Opera) I try. All other devices in the house connect to the wi-fi network okay, so the problem is not with my network.
I tried the suggestion that involved typing "REG DELETE..." in the command line, but that did not work
When I go to Settings > Network and Internet i have very few option unlike most peoples windows 10 I've seen.
I have:
Data usage
Ethernet
Dial-Up
VPN
Proxy
But in videos and friends I've seen many more options...
So for about 2-3 months I've been running hardwired Ethernet internet instead of wifi. I keep my Dell plugged into my tv. The other day I tried to move it and use wifi in another room but I have no option. When I first started with Windows 10 on release day I was using wifi with no problems and when going the Ethernet route it was always plug n play when you going to wifi vs wired.
1. Even after unplugging the Ethernet cord the symbol doesn't change to a wireless symbol the Ethernet symbol just has a little red box.
2. Tried turning airplane mode on and off as well as full pc reboot
3. Right clicking internet from the bottom right of the screen image and clicking open network and sharing doesn't give any wireless options
4. I've tried troubleshooting also with Ethernet unplugged and no success.
So just to repeat Ethernet works perfectly. Wifi used to work. My roommate who also is running the same version of Dell wifi works perfectly. Same account and everything.
The only thing I can think of is the pc updated one day as I have automatic updates and it wiped the driver maybe.
I have a brand new Dell computer with factory installed Windows 10. Unable to connect to Wifi. Shows "Limited" connection.
View 2 RepliesInitially windows 10 was running fine until suddenly (I'm using Chrome) errors such as "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" started occurring, while periodically the wifi kept disconnecting . After searching for and following some solutions this issue was fixed however now the internet is very slow. Admittedly I'm not technically adept at all however I believe something I changed may have made the wifi slow. I did the following things:
- Cleared chrome's cache
- Changed the DNS to google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (which I am currently using) from the default (IPv4)
- Tried to update network adapter drivers (said there were no new versions when using the 'automatic search')
- Used cmd to run commands such as "ipconfig /flushdns"
- Tried performing a clean boot
- Also followed these instructions [URL] ....
On [URL] ... download speed is 0.39mbps. Upload speed is 3.75mbps. Ping is 8ms. I use fibre so previously it was very fast.
If this problem can't be resolved I'll just have to go back to windows 8.1, the internet is unbearably slow.
Under Network & Internet i cannot see wifi although wifi adapter is installed and showing that it is working properly.
View 1 RepliesFor some reason, ever since i built my computer back in late 2014, it has been going very slow. Programs take awhile to start up and the initial boot takes about 5-7 minutes. However, all the games I play run very well. I actually overclock both my CPU and GPU with low temps. My specs are as follows:
GPU: AMD Gigabyte R9 270 w/ 2gigs vRAM
CPU: AMD FX 6300 OC'd to 4.0GHz
RAM: 8gigs of 1333MHz DDR3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
PSU: Sentey 725w
Edit: I forgot to mention that the USB 3.0 ports rarely work. This has been a problem ever since I got the mobo. I will probably just call Gigabyte at some point if no is able to figure that out
Sometimes when turning pc on I get a popup saying input signal out of range change settings to 1600x900-60hz and when pc comes on everything is magnified then after rebooting several times screen returns to normal?
View 1 RepliesI have internet service from AT&T which worked great until I updated to windows 10. My pc now connects to the wifi just find, I can download updates, but I can not browse a web page. When I go into open a web page I get an error that the page can not be displayed. If I vpn to my work it works just fine then. I have reset the browser settings, created a new account on my pc and nothing has worked.

i have tried connecting to my school's apartment however it always goes to no connections are available and then airplane mode and shows connections are available. the Wi-Fi connects just fine in all other areas of the school byt not in my apartment. The apartment is located inside the school and there are a couple of access points. I can connect to my friends Wii-U just fine but not my laptop? And when I troubleshoot, it says "Problem with router or access point.
View 1 RepliesI've installed windows 10, but I've got a strange problem. My WiFi connection randomly gets limited for one second. It isn't so bad, when I'm browsing, but if I wanna download something... that's terrible :S 'cause when the wifi stops, the download stops too... What can I do? I think it's not my laptops problem, because before win10 - on windows 8.1 - it worked fine. If it matters something, it gets limited in about every 5 or 10 minutes.
