Networking :: No Network Connection And No Ability To Enter Password
Apr 14, 2016
Husband updated his laptop to Windows 10 several months ago. So far it's been good, and he likes it...that is until this morning. He opens the laptop...no internet connection. It shows our wifi network, but won't connect. He enters his password...says he needs to enter password for that device. Enter password from before Windows 10...no good. Enter password for micorstoft...no good.
Using my laptop (Windows 7) to find fix. I've tried: Troublshoot network connection by right clicking. Right Click won't work...nothing happens. Maybe keyboard language is wrong...no settings button available to look at keyboard properties. Try connecting directly to router...won't make connection. We've rebooted the computer a couple of times, to no avail.
Our phones are connected, my laptop is connected, our chromecast is connected, so we know it's not the router. There is something up with his laptop.
Playing ring around the rosey is not the best way to spend a Sunday morning. no internet connection = no ability to enter password = not able to troubleshoot internet connection = no internet connection = no ability to enter password.

I have just set up the "o2 HomeBox 6641".
How can one change the name of the network connection:
"WiFi" can be changed / renamed, but "o2-WLAN" cannot, I would like to rename it.
How / where can I change the WPA2 key, the password for the Internet connection?
And, do I need a password - there is no one else using the Notebook - to enter the program / GUI in the browser to change settings for the router?

I am trying to set up the synchronisation/backup program that I use on my desktop/laptop which synchronises my files on my university's servers. In order to connect to my network share I first have to connect to the University VPN. I'd like to automate this in the synchronisation program and what to enter in the box (see screenshot). I'm guessing it would be the same as what I'd enter into the Run dialogue to do the same thing.

I have Windows 10 laptop hooked up to an ethernet connection which has been working well for the past 6 months. On 2/18/16 it stopped working. I traced the problem to the Qualcomm Atheros network Controller/ Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller: Internet status > IPv4 Connectivity: No network connection IPv6 Connectivity: No network connection Clicked: diagnose --> System checked & reset, with IPv4 Connectivity and internet access restored.
This resolved the problem until 3/4, following a Windows 10 update. The above solution no longer works. Clicking 'Disable this net work device' and then enabling it again restores IPv4 Connectivity and internet access for a limited time but loading a new site or page is slower than it was prior to the emergence of this problem on 2/18, and then the connection is again lost after maybe 10 to 20 minutes.

After spending many anxious days trying to elude a hacker, I Reset my desktop PC yesterday to get a clean Windows 10 install. The legacy network connection I know is routed through the Hacker who is using Teredo tunneling software. I am trying to set up a new and secure VPN network connection to the Internet. But the PC keeps whirring without any visible connection progress. The Network Connection dialog box tells me that Windows 10 is trying to create a WAN Miniport (IKEv2). The legacy connection is on Ethernet with a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, which I imported to the new Windows install.I am worried that I don't have the correct adapter settings and that a new connection can not be created while the legacy one still exists.

after upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I have no internet connection. From looking around various forums the problem is usually a VPN or anti virus issue so I have used the f secure removal tool to uninstall my anti virus and used revo uninstaller to remove hotspot shield VPN from my PC before upgrading with no success. The network connections icon looks connected when the pc is first turned on then it changes to the yellow exclamation mark. I have updated the network adpater driver to the latest and also tried plugging in a USB wireless adapter which has the same problem. Will refresh your pc in windows 10 resolve this issue and does this remove all my saved files?

I have my laptop at work and have had no trouble connecting the company WiFi (they have Guest WiFi and a WiFi where you need to enter your company provided Username and Password). I have been connecting using my Username and password. Today I had to change my company login password. Now when I try to connect my laptop I get a "can't connect" message because the password saved in my laptop is no longer valid. But I can't find a place in Win10 to enter my new password.
I remember the first time I logged onto the company WiFi a Windows popup came up asking for my Username and Password (which was saved so I didn't need to enter it again - until now). This time not getting the popup - it just says "can't connect".

If I go to the network and sharing center on one of the computers on our home network it reports that it is not connected to a network, but this system can see other computers on the network and access the internet. The other computers cannot see this system, however. This system has an older X38 motherboard with an E8400 processor, but the initial in-place upgrade from Windows 7 had no problems at all.
I didn't notice the problem until I realized that about two weeks of backups across the network had failed. I have tried the repair tools in Windows 10 and have uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter without success. I was hoping that the problem would be fixed by installing the recent big windows update, but windows update reports that it cannot connect even though I have internet access.

The upgrade from 8.1 went smoothly, the only problem so far is that
I lost my Home Network connection and don't see how to re-connect.
My Home Network consists of 3 computers, an ancient XP, a newer WIN7,
an HP Printer and this one running WIN10.
Where do I find the screen(s) that will let me connect this computer to mt Home Network ?

I have suddenly noticed a problem with internet connection. I cannot download any apps from Microsoft store (with unknown error message). Strange is that each other software (cloud clients, browser, ....) works perfectly.
I have already searched for solution on google and found command wsreset.exe but this did not work..
I have also tried network troubleshooter. It has found these errors:There is one or more missing network protocols. Windows sockets registry entries are missing
I have tried to repair these errors with some netsh commands, which actually did something but did not solve anything.
Another solution is to reinstall network drivers but this did not work either.

I recently brought a new wireless network adapter for usb (Asus usb N14) and since I've started using it the connection is really unstable, I'm on the same connection on my iphone and it's just fine but on my pc it's really struggling, I've ran speed tests and it'll work fine when randomly it'll just go down, I'll still be connected to the router but have no internet. Right now looking at the wifi graph in task manager it literally going straight up for a few seconds then straight back to 0 when downloading a file, and I'm unable to download any large files because it'll just fail after about 30 seconds.
I've updated it to the latest version with no change in performance or reliability. One other thing I'm at Uni so other people will be using the connection and I've no access to the router unfortunately.

Why the specified network password is not correct? My password is CORRECT!! It's a good password and the only password used on these computers. When I try to network from my win 10 laptop to win 10 desktop I get this error message? I went to Control Panel Networking and troubleshooted and it said I didn't have permission to network. Yet I had no trouble when I was working the same computers in win 8.1 and win 7. There has been no change in networking procedure in win 10 which worked well in win 7 and 8.1.

One of scores and scores of people having home network connection issues...when prompted for the password, etc, when trying to access a network share (another desktop in the house)... What is the attached jpg network password asking for ?
Right now only a 2 PC network (not Homegroup) Sharing is enabled and in Private mode all network settings have been checked and double checked
Is it the password for the current system...ie this PC's password when trying to connect to Network share ?
Is it the particular user that's logged on password ?
Is it the password for the network share I'm trying to reach ?
Is it separate or different from the Windows On-line account password ?
Same for user...is it the current users name...is it the current PC's name....or is it the name the MS account is using

My wife doesn't use a password to log on to her Windows 10 PC. Her user name is her email address when the "Enter Network Credentials" window pops up when access is attempted from other computers. Her email password does not work here. We don't know what password it might be expecting. We've run NETPLWIZ on her machine and cleared the "users must enter a user name and password" box. This has no effect.

My desktop and laptop are both running Windows 10, and I sign into both computers using my e-mail address and password from Office 365. On each computer I have enabled sharing for each drive with the permissions I want. I am not using the HomeGroup feature because I want to share entire drives, and support for HomeGroup says it shares a very limited set of folders.
When I try to access either computer from the other, it asks for my credentials and I give the same e-mail and password I use to sign in. The response from Windows is "The specified network password is not correct."
I have seen a number of posts about this message, but no solutions that worked for me. Many solutions involve entering the computer name as the domain, which I don't think is applicable, since I am signing in with my Microsoft e-mail. I tried entering the computer name anyway, and it did not work. I have also tried updating my credentials with the Credential Manager, and (when that did not work) deleting the credentials and re-entering them when asked, still to no avail.

Upgrading from win 8.1 Pro to win10. Seemed to be going well and then saw lost internet connection in systray. Troubleshooting came up with "windows sockets registry entries required for network connection are missing". I can connect to the internet but not to the LAN.

I have a Windows 10 PC, with one of it's functions being that of a file server/NAS for my home network. I set it up with password protected sharing and a user account/password that everyone knows and uses to access it. I didn't really have any reason to use password protected sharing at the time, but it was the default so I left it.
Now I have a couple of network streaming devices that can't handle password protected sharing, so I was considering turning it off. Is there any reason not to turn off password protected sharing on a private network? Obviously I don't mind everyone on the network having access, but I was wondering if it had any other potential security benefits that I haven't thought of.

I got a new laptop with Windows 10 about a month ago. Used it several times over the last month, even yesterday. But this morning when I tried to use it, it will not let me enter my password. I can move the mouse, but that's all. I can't get to any other screens.

But I'm currently browsing the internet and typing to you.
In fact - I can do virtually everything (League; Steam; Skype; etc) except use any OS feature that requires logging in -
e.g. Mail, User Accounts, Shop, etc. Then it says something along the lines of "Cannot use this service without an internet connection - please connect and try again." When I run Network Diagnostics as the prompt recommends - it says I am connected and cannot find a problem.
It doesn't always happen - but it seems to be determined on start-up. If I restart it now it might be working next launch - but 75% of the time it will encounter the same issue. It's been happening for months now but I've sort of gotten used to using my phone to check my emails - but I've now encountered an issue with one of my hard drives being unable to be searched (tried indexing, etc) and the only step I've found that I haven't tried says it could be a corrupted user account - but I cannot update my user account without "connecting to the internet". -_-
The system is up to date. No driver updates available.

Some might say, Windows 10 home can be frustrating. Ok!, When my desktop goes to sleep, I have to enter my password on wakeup. I've searched all over the internet...and that includes www.tenforurs.com and printed out some thirty pages on how it can be done, but, no luck.
I have printed how to Make Windows 10 not require a Password on Wake. I went to Power Options in Control Panel, click the "Require a password on wakeup" on the left-hand side. Clicked on... "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link, then click the "Don't require a password " button, and made I saved it.
After the computer goes to sleep and I need to wake it up, it asks for my password. I've tried this at least dozen times in many different way according to some that post how to do it.

Windows 10 was forcing me to enter a password every time the computer booted up. I ran netplwiz, unchecked the box that said password was required, entered my password twice, then I shut down the computer (not just a restart, a complete shutdown). When I turned it back on it didn't ask for a password. But then after it was idle for awhile, when I woke it up it wanted a password again. How do I get rid of that?

I just upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10. Before I upgraded, my brother created an account for himself and windows 10 seems to think that his account was the main one. He didn't have administrator access, so now I'm locked out of everything that requires administrator access.
When I try to install new software, the security pop up happens, asking for an administrator password, but there is no field to enter a password.
I can't open the command prompt (windows -> cmd -> enter)
I can't switch accounts, logging out lists no other accounts.
How do I get administrator access back, and how can I make windows stop thinking I'm my brother?

I just reinstalled Win10. Before doing so I could go directly to my password screen, without the previous window due to a tweak, and when I keyed in my password it would open automatically without having to press the "Enter" key. Now I must do so. My search has only found how to not have the first screen mentioned above but not the password part.
