Why suddenly out of the blue my network quit showing one of my computers? I have a tablet and laptop both with windows 10. my tablet still shows both computers, but my laptop no longer shows the tablet. I didn't change anything. What can cause this and how do I fix it?
View 4 RepliesI have two desktops and a NAS drive on my network. Both PC's are Win10. One Pro, the other Home. Everything was working beautifully then out of nowhere the Home machine just stopped accessing the public folder on the Pro machine saying it didn't have permission. I thought the Public folder didn't need permissions if it's shared with Everybody. But it will access and read the other non-public shares on the Pro machine. Weird The Pro machine, however, doesn't even see the Home machine on the network any more, although I can ping it. Again, weird. I had a mapped drive to the Home machine which is now broken. Both PC's can see and access the NAS drive. No settings were changed, nothing was touched, it just worked one minute and stopped the next. The Pro machine was just updated to Build 10586.3 on 11/13/15. But I don't think that caused it because everything worked until the 17th. All the network settings were correct and they have not been changed. I can't find anything about it on the internet except the typical "Make sure Network Discovery is on and file sharing is enabled." Yes, Network Discovery is on and file and printer sharing is enabled on both machines. Still no go.
View 9 RepliesOur home network has a desktop and 3 laptops. The 3 laptops all print through the network to the printer attached to the desktop.
For some reason only 1 of the laptops now shows in the desktop network folder. The other 2 have vanished and cannot see the desktop either so no printing. I have tried running both Homegroups and using names & passwords but no difference. I also have a server on the network and that has vanished.
I have checked the credentials and all passwords and names are correct.
I have removed Avast anti-virus and have Windows firewall set to default settings running with Defender.
Windows 10 is the latest version 1511 on all the PCs.
I'm running WiFi on my desktop since a couple of months but tonight(since 2 days ago) I suddenly "can't connect to this network". I live in an apartment building for students and we share a Wi-Fi connection in the house. I've asked my neighbor and her connection works.
My smartphone can connect to the network as usual, my chromecast can connect but not my PC.
I run win 10 and use an ASUS PCE-AC68 network card.
ATM I'm connected to my smartphone hotspot so it seems like there's nothing physically wrong with my equipment.

I think I've tried all the obvious stuff. Checking for new drivers for my ASUS card, firewall is completely off, telling Win 10 to forget the connection and rebooting, waiting... I just get that annoying message "can't connect to this network" "close"...
Here is a wireless network report(netsh wlan show wlanreport) ....
I can reach them by the quick access shortcuts I added before the upgrade but they don't show up in WE Network.
Rebooting my WD MyCloud solves the problem until next time I reboot my Win10 c.
We have recently updated our four work computers to windows 10. Mine shows none of the network computers or printers under network. Under printers it shows one of our four printers but says driver unavailable and the spooler is not working.
I can get onto two of the other computers using a link under my quick access bar which was set up on our previous windows, so it can go to these computers, but they are not showing up on the network.
I have googled some of these questions and tried control panel/ administrative tools/ services/ to turn on UPnP Device host to automatic but it wont start and comes up with Error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start. Similar for SSDP discovery and Print spooler.
Under change advanced sharing options I pick 'turn on network discovery' but it wont stay on/keeps going back off.
I may be able to find a way to get onto the printers I need but would ideally like everything to show up properly under network.
I recently upgraded the 3 machines on my home network to windows 10 home.
Currently when I open up "this PC" and click on network, only one of the 3 computers shows up, and this machine is not the local machine on 2 of them. However If I type in the UNC address for the other machines I can access them.
If I set up a home group all the computers show up in the home group roll out under "this PC" but still not in the network.
Something else that is strange. If I look at "network and sharing center" two of the the computer see one private network name and the other one sees a different name.
I have DELL Inspiron 14R N4010. Automatic upgraded to Windows 10 Home. Previously I have Windows 7 Home Premium. After upgrade I didn't see the wired network adapter. However my wifi is working fine and can access Internet. I tried to re-install the LAN driver (Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Driver); it ask for upgrade/repair/de-install means driver is already present in the system. In spite of that upgraded the dirver (got the upgraded driver setup from Dell). Unfortunately, the device is still not visible in device manager.

View 1 RepliesI have a Lenovo Thinkcentre preloaded with Windows 10 Pro. Sometimes when I go to File Explorer and click on Network it shows something called "Ralink Linux Client" connected to my home network. When I select its properties the only information I get is it's MAC address. But the funny thing is when I check my router's list of connected devices the Ralink Linux Client doesn't show up on my router's list even though it shows up on Network on my computer. I am using a Buffalo WHR-300HP router. I also have a Thinkpad notebook computer running Windows 7 Pro on my home network and this phantom device never shows up on Network on the Thinkpad. This Ralink Linux Client comes and goes on my Thinkcentre showing up sometimes but not all the time.
I tried researching this on the Web and apparently others have had this problem too both with Windows 7 and Windows 8. But I am reading conflicting information about what might be going on. One forum poster suggested that this means that the router connected to the network is picking up another router within range. Someone else suggested that this is actually something to do with the local router's internal components.
edit - My Thinkcentre is connected to my router via Ethernet. My Thinkpad is connected wirelessly.
I am unable to access the windows store but i can connect to the internet with nearly everything else...
Not a massive issue as I don't use the store much but it is quite annoying as it only happens sometimes.
I believe all my drivers are up to date... the MOBO is a asus b85m-itx..
On my home network, the other Win 10 PC is suddenly showing in my taskbar near the task view icon. I like the idea and would like to set the other Win 10 machine to do the same but I can't find out how or why it decided to show up.
View 1 RepliesEach time I try to log in to a particular networked computer ( #3) from Computer #4 , a windows security essentials pop up and asks for credentials even though I checked on allowing access without passwords in computer #3 . In any case when I typed in the user name and password for computer ( #3) , I keep getting error indicating wrong user or password. However the reverse from computer #3 to #4 is OK . All my networked computers do not require password and I am not using workgroup or homegroup just simply network shares.

"One or more network protocols are missing in this computer".
When I run the "netsh winsock reset" in the Administrator Command Center, I get the messages:
" The following DLL cannot be loaded: NETIOHLP.DLL" and "The following DLL cannot be loaded: NSHIPSEC.DLL".
this issue has plagued me forever since windows 10, and even slightly in windows 8.1. this issue would come randomly and i cant connect to internet even if i were a point blank in front of the router. running the troubleshooting does not fix it. the only way to fix it most of the time is to disable the wifi adapter for about 2 minutes and re enable it again. in some cases only a reboot can fix it and in rare cases it can only be fixed by uninstalling the wifi drivers and starting over.i have tried with 3 different wifi adapters, 2 computers and 2 routers.
it seems to struggle the most with connecting to optimum wifi/Xfinity wifi (which my laptop is added to my account) its mainly this optimum wifi here causing issues making router itself a issue but still. the other router is my 4g sprint hotspot, sometimes on rare occasion the same thing happens.
This happened after the latest major update.
I've tried the following steps with no success 1) sfc /scannow. This showed no errors
2) netsh advfirewall reset netsh int ip reset*** netsh int ipv6 reset netsh int ipv4 reset netsh winsock reset *** This command did not work originally until I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControl and changed Control/NSI folder 26 permission to everyone (This box was unchecked again after reboot
3) ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
4) Disabling and Renabling the Network Adapter within device manager.
5) Uninstalling the driver
6) Installing the latest drivers both from the Asrock/intel website and googling my network adapter.
7) I saw the fix where someone deletes the Windows 10 WIN and WIN2, and replaces with a clean Windows 7/8 version in this registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesWinsock2
- Did not work also, it gave me a new problem no ethernet something which troubleshoot can't also fix.
8) Finally Reset W10. Still get the same error
I have a network that has 3 laptops running Win 10. 2 of the computers (haven't checked the third yet) indicate they are on the same network SSID. One computer can print from the printers on the network.
The second laptop had the same printers and was able to print to them prior to Win 10. Now the SSID is the same as the first computer yet it can't print nor can it see any printers oe devices on the network!
I have w10, running a static ip address through time warner cable in Ohio. Time warner said they had a problem on their end, ever since then I can't connect to our security cameras. I run a powerline from the house to the office., have reset my computer, modem and wireless router. Still getting the same error - one or more network protocols are missing from this computer. I tried talking with time warner cable - no go!
View 9 RepliesI am trying to set up our server which we have on my sisters new laptop. when I go to 'map network drive' and click 'browse' the server called 'BGE-B-NAS' doesn't appear on the list. I have tried multiple times and nothing seems to be working. I also tried to type it in manually but it just said that 'windows cannot access BGE-B-NASCompanydata'. Is it to do with the fact that this is a laptop and it is using the wifi instead of being wired?
View 1 RepliesThis has suddenly happened, explorer is missing the 'space' information from the display.
The build up to this was simply creating a Windows disk image using W10's own utility. Mysteriously the space bar on the problem partition showed some usage, about 1.7Gb but nothing could be found in the partition. I've even tried deleting the partition in Disk Management and reassigning a drive letter but nothing gets the display back.

I have two computers that I'm trying to get to communicate with each other so I can move files back and forth between them. My plan is to make one of them the home's backup and main storage system. the problem is that I can only seem to get one of them to actually communicate equally. Computer 1 is a factory Lenovo Intel i3 computer. Computer 2 is a home made AMD that I just built a few weeks ago.
Both are running Win 10 Pro.
Both are physically attached to the router. Heck, they're physically stacked on each other on my desk....
Using File Explorer, on the left side Panel under Network, it shows both computers: AMD and Lenovo.
Computer 1(factory) is able to the files on Computer 2 easily by going over through File Explorer. But, if I click on one of the files, I get the message that I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION. If I try to cut/Paste files from Computer 1 to computer 2, I get the same message.
Computer 2. I am also able to see the computer listed under Network in the left panel. When I click on Computer 1 to access it, I get a Network Error Windows cannot access Lenovo (Computer1) Error code 0x80070035
I've tried the Diagnose option and it doesn't work.
If I click on a Drive under Network on the very computer, I can see the drives, I can see the directory list. If I click on a file, I get the error. Example on the left side panel on my AMD computer I select:
>AMD
>C:
>PerfLogs
It's at this point that I get the error: Windows cannot access amdcPerfLogs as an example
I've tried running through Homegroup setup and Googled for days on setting up a network with Windows 10 and can't seem to figure out what I'm not doing here to make these computers talk and communicate with each other. I eventually, want to get all my computers to talk to the AMD so I can use it for a main storage/backup for the home network.

View 4 RepliesUpgrade from win 8.1..The install was very smooth when I upgraded, i am having minimal problem with my pc. the only problem is that at the moment, random of times my pc will automatically reset with out warning, no BSOD, no errors. Here is how it will go,
Playing game
Sudden power off (sometimes up to x3)
Restart (sometimes up to x3)
then it will auto automatically boot to windows and ill have a full day before it does it again.
My PC specs are provided.....
I recently got this problem. I restored, restore said it didn't complete, but problem is solved. However I have been having repeated connection issues. Not sure if it could be a hard drive failure imminent problem, or due to the forced update/installs Win10 makes me do.
View 2 RepliesRecently, my computer has been very strange... I have been having unwitnessed BSODs (showing up in the reliability monitor), lots of hardware errors in the reliability monitor and multiple programs stopping working. The troubleshooting steps I took to try to solve these issues were: updating all drivers, testing ram with memtest86+ (8 passes OK), testing the hard drive with Sea Tools (all ok) and refreshing windows 10.
A couple of days ago, I experienced my start menu, Cortana all "apps" etc. not working. So, I logged off, only to find a black screen with a cursor! The only way to turn off was to do a hard shut down. After turning back on again, I got the usual windows start up screen and normal "AVG watchdog starting up" text (see attachment). However, my computer freezes at this stage. AVG stops at finished and the computer freezes!
After trying to boot into safe mode, I simply get the black screen and cursor again.
Luckily, I have all files backed up and other computers to use, but I am really concerned about the root cause of my problems as I have had similar errors in previous installs of windows.
Win10, diagnostic message is:"one or more protocols is missing".Running diagnostic as Administrator message is:" connection between access point, router or cable modem and Internet is broken".Have tried winsock reset, clean reboot neither solved the problem.What does ISO stand for. P
