I recently upgraded to windows 10. i started having a series of problems but they eventually fanned out but I still am unable to connect to the internet via wifi. I have to use the ethernet cable.

View 2 RepliesI purchased a new computer running Windows 10 (build 10240) today and have set up the windows. However, it will not allow me to connect to my WiFi. When I use the network option in the task bar, no wifi networks are shown and it says that there are no connections available. When I access the network settings, where the different sections are listed on the left-hand side, WiFi is not an available option.
Updating drivers Deleting drivers and then allowing the computer to reinstall A few different command prompt methods such as resetting the TCP stack, as well as trying some that were for people who upgraded from windows 7/8.
Changed my wifi name and password. After that I`m unable to type the password. After clicking connect it loads for a while showing "checking network requirements" and it ends with "cant connect to this network". Password box does not even show up!

Notes:
a) hardware is ok - verified by other OS
b) network connections were ok during automatic update and are still ok verified by other OS systems
c) the automatic update is the only change in the software
d) the only message was from MS browser "we are sorry you are not connected to Internet"!
Questions:
(1/5) What can be done ?
(2/5) Windows 10 advices to use online support in the situation MS update set PC offline, why ?
(3/5) How can one use online support after having forced to offline ?
(4/5) Is there any way to prevent Microsoft update to modify network drivers / drivers is general ?
(5/5) Why did the update by MS set the system offline after having completed its operations!
Tried to connect to Wifi today and couldn't find how. When I searched for online assistance I noticed that it directs you to the settings and then the network & Internet tab.Except I don't have that tab in settings. Mine is only Network.
View 6 RepliesI downloaded Windows 10, uninstalled my anti virus and disabled my firewall. I am unable to connect to the internet (Ethernet) on Windows 10, I've check the IPv6 and IPv4 which are both activated. I may need the drivers but I'm unsure how to do it.
My other issue is I can't revert back to Windows 7. Apparently my PC deleted the Windows 7 files downloading Windows 10. I tried using the windows disc to format my ssd to clean download Windows 7 back onto my computer, but it wouldn't let me for some reason.
So if there is an easy fix for the internet issue, ill keep Windows 10. But if it's going to take me all day of troubleshooting I'd much rather format my computer back to windows 7.

The internet functionality works fine on his PC after upgrading from Win 8 to Win 10, though there is one problem that we cannot seem to figure out. Whenever the computer is restarted, it somehow cannot connect to the internet. This is especially weird because it will connect after being booted up from a full shutdown.
I should also mention that this is connected via Ethernet cable, not WiFi.
changed from windows 7 to windows 10 unable to connect to wi-fi using netgear AC1200 usb adapter will not connect gone back to 7 works fine.
View 1 RepliesAfter the latest update yesterday of win10, I was able to connect to the internet. But once my laptop was shut down, I've been unable to connect since. Rebooted wireless remote and double checked all of the connections. Defender took over as my firewall from Advast. I've been able to shut off Defender but am still unable to connect to the net. In my wanderings, I did come across "report" that information was being sent but nothing going past some unknown firewall. As far as I know there are only 2; defender and Advast.
View 5 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 (upgraded from 7 a month or so ago) on an HP Pavilion g6 laptop. My computer suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet a few hrs ago and now no website opens in any browser. Torrents work fine, surprisingly.
Troubleshooting gives me this "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding" ... I tried the flushdns, registerdns, ... routine but it doesn't work. Switching the router off and on again didn't work either.
When I try to change the DNS manually in advanced adapter options, on selecting 'validate upon exit' and closing the window, I get this message "Unexpected condition occurred. Not all of the changes could be made".
Upon googling I noticed on some forums people were pointing fingers at Virtualbox Bridged Networking Driver and VMWare Bridge Protocol. I can see these in the Properties window, but upon trying to uninstall these, I get another error 0x8007007E
I have uninstalled VMware, but the damn protocol is still there. I'm not sure if that is really what is preventing me from making changes to the Network's properties like DNS and IP ...
i have tried connecting to my school's apartment however it always goes to no connections are available and then airplane mode and shows connections are available. the Wi-Fi connects just fine in all other areas of the school byt not in my apartment. The apartment is located inside the school and there are a couple of access points. I can connect to my friends Wii-U just fine but not my laptop? And when I troubleshoot, it says "Problem with router or access point.

View 5 RepliesI have a VAIO F Series VPCF217HG that I just upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago. So far everything worked fine except one problem.
I have a perfect internet collection, as in I am still able to go on to websites and download/upload stuffs, but every time I try to use any of the Microsoft features, it keeps saying that I don;t have an internet connection. I cannot use Cortana or Windows update and a lot of other features. I tried to use the ""Use SSL 2.0""Use SSL 3.0""Use TSL 1.0""Use TSL 1.1""Use TSL 1.2"" fix but it did't work.
I thought it was because of my outdated Mcafee, so I uninstalled it but the problem still persists afterwards.
One of my PC's aren't connecting to the internet. It's running Windows 10. And it shows a yellow triangle and says 'no internet' if I click it.
View 1 RepliesI have a PC out in my building and it runs off wifi, sometimes my modem shuts down and reboots but it will take like 5-10 minutes unless I go all the way back to the house and power cycle it. The problem is my windows 10 is set to auto connect to it but never does unless I click the wifi drop down list then it will reconnect, any application that tries to reconnect to a specific wifi more aggressively than windows 10 it gets annoying because if I need to use the pc I cant just look across the room to see if my modem is back.
View 4 RepliesThe computer is at my dad's so I am relaying what he told me. It is a new Cell laptop, a quad i7 CPU with 10 Home ed.
He has a problem: everything that uses WIFI, that is Explorer, Skype, Firefox has long freezes. The connect is practically intermittent. None of his other devices (another Dell quad i5 laptop, an old Core duo Dell laptop not his Galaxy tablet, or his internet TV) have the problem. It is one network which is from his cable company wifi router.
I am thinking reinstalling WiFi driver first..
Brought a new Dell laptop and came with windows 10 and i can't get it to connect to wifi. It worked perfectly at my mums, but at home it says wifi password incorrect when its not. I have updated drivers, disabled and enabled the wireless adapter. In command prompt i type ipconfig/renew it says no operation can be performed.

View 7 RepliesI have just bought a new windows 10 machine. It finds my home WIFI but fails to connect with the message "Can't connect to this network".
I have tried all the obvious issues such as re-booting (every component). I have several windows 7 machines and have checked the configuration of the wireless adaptors and there is nothing different around security, or 802 protocol selected etc. I have tuned off IP version 6 after reading some forums but get the same error.

My first experience with Windows 10 has been extremely frustrating and wasted a lot of time. I see that this is also a very common problem. Equally frustrating is the lack of diagnostic from Windows...I appear to have no way of knowing why the connection failed (hence why I have shown the router log).

View 9 RepliesYesterday I relocated our Wireless Modem to a cooler room. We live in the Philippines so these devices can get quite warm...After relocating and hooking up all the wires, cables etc. My wife's computer a Dell, would not connect to the Wireless modem. I checked and replaced all wires with new ones, and rechecked the connections, everything was okay...I use a MAC which is still working fine, and connected right away, so I know the Signal is getting out. I did the "ping" command and it is not going thru. Tried everything I know, cannot get her wireless to work. I have a Red X on her adapter, in the Network Connections dialog box, "Not Connected"...Her system uses a Broadcom 802.11n adapter, which I replaced just recently...When I registered I added all the Dell system info, CPU info etc..
View 1 RepliesEver since I got my computer (which came with Windows 10), I've had trouble connecting to the internet. Every time I shut down and start it up again, it's never online even though I'm using a cat 5 cable hooked directly to the source. My laptop can connect wirelessly, so that's how I know my internet is fine, but it's a Mac (which I'm currently using) so it's a completely different OS.
Usually if I went into the command prompt and did ipconfig /release then /renew, it fixes it, and I'm online. But ever since doing a recent Windows Update that trick doesn't seem to be working anymore. I.E. ipv4 and ipv6 are enabled, tried turning off Firewall temporarily to see if that was the issue, tried uninstalling antivirus software.
I upgraded to Windows 10 two months ago. Last week, I lost networking. I've scanned the posts and haven't found a solution.
Network troubleshooter says adapter might be the problem, device manager shows adapter working normally. Power saving not enabled. No VPN installed. Original adapter is Broadcomn NetLink Gigabit Ethernet.
Too late to roll back to Windows 7.
Installed new Realtek PCIe GBE Ethernet adapter that is Windows 10 compatible. Tried an old USB Netgear wireless approach.
Cannot connect desktop to network at all. All other tablets, laptops work fine.
Tried all suggested command prompts (netsh, etc).
Tried updating drivers by downloading to tablet and then transferring to computer.
How to configure my Win10 to automatically connect to multiple wifi networks?
I have wifi at home so when I get to the office I have to configure the "manage wifi settings" on my laptop, click "forget" my home wifi, and manually enter the office wifi password. I repeat the same process when I get home from the office or use the wifi in my brother's house. I had this on my Windows 7 but can't figure out how to in Win10.
