I discovered today that the new pictures folder that was created when the Windows 10 upgrade was done is not accessible to me and I am the only User and I am the administrator of the PC. When I open the security tab of folder properties it shows that I have all permissions but I still can't access the folder...

I've been using Windows 10 for about 2 months now and do like the feel of it.Now, I have a problem with the Edge browser not saving a website I try to favorite in a new folder under Favorites.When favoriting a website to Favorites or Favorite Toolbar, is saves the website as the star becomes yellow. But, if I make a new folder under Favorites and try to save to it, no luck. The star does not change to yellow nor does it favorite it under the new folder created.
Additionally, when I try to remove the folder created under Favorites, right clicking gives me the "remove" option but when I select it, nothing happens.
I have been using this SSD for almost 2 years now and I couldn't be happier until a couple of days ago, when my computer did not read it when I connected. (I use a Qosmio X70, win 10)
Here's what's happening. When I connect it shows up on the task bar as it's manufacturer's name rather than the name i assigned to it, does not show up in My computer, shows up at "USB mass storage device" in device manager, but does not show up in disk manager and finally it shows up (in it's manufacturer's name again) in "printers and hardware".
If I try to eject it from the task bar, nothing happens, when I remove the cable a message pop's up saying the device was in use by a program.
Furthermore when I try to uninstall it from "device manager" the app freezes and is not responsive.
Is there a way to fix it, I'd rather not lose the files in the SSD, but if it's a must it would be fine; I;d settle for just formatting it and getting it back as it was.
PS I tried to access the SSD on my windows 7, doesn't show up in any way there. Also changed the cable, nothing happened.
I can't even access regedit, c drive, One drive, or install any new devices. Even launching the windows troubleshooter fails to load application. Everything was working fine pre windows 10 I cant save any folders to my documents, pictures, downloads will download but cant launch or install. I can't even create new folders on the desk top.

View 1 RepliesAfter nice Windows update I cant access my second SSD drive with the following message "Can't access drive, The device is not ready." If i rollback the whole system SSD to previous Windows version with Acronis backup utility the drive works like charm. If i try to format it with Acronis Disk Director I get the following message Disk Write Error, Run check disk.
Check disk give following message:
C:Windowssystem32>chkdsk g:
The type of the file system is RAW.

I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop at home. All 3 are joined in a homegroup, and all network and sharing settings are selected properly. All 3 computers have same windows accounts (passwords), same programs and same internet security.
The 3 computers show up in the network folder and can be accessed from any other computer.However access to the laptop is often denied, by error message 0x80070035 "network path not found"
From the laptop, each desktop is always accessible, no matter who is signed in.

I have an ASUS 2 speed router - it worked fine in Win 7, allowing me to target the 5.2 MHz stream toward my TV for streaming, and use the 2.5 MHz speed for the computers, tablets & phones.
Well, I lost my motherboard, and purchased a CPU with Windows 10. I cannot tell what the router is doing - Windows 10 seems to think I do not require this information, and will not allow me to even SEE the router settings, let alone change them. The stream to the TV seems fine - the CPU internet is slow.
Anyway - how I can access the router settings!
I'm having issues accessing both the Wifi Panel and the Windows Start Menu from task bar at the bottom of the home screen. When I left-click on with it does nothing. I can right-click on the icons but still unable to open either. Wifi shows a connection (Wifi icon) but still unable to connect to internet. Other items in the task bar are accessible with no problems. Unable to download/update anything because of the inability to access the internet.

my question is about Partitions in Windows 10.
I have three-
100MB (created from Windows 7, which I knew was needed for booting)
C Partition (Windows instllation)
450MB (created after upgrade)
So, do I still need the 100MB? and what is this new 450MB used for? Disk Management says that is empty. I don't want to delete anything for risk of making my system unbootable.

View 3 RepliesI have a windows 10 64 bit computer which was upgraded from windows 7. I tried to do a restore but it came up saying unable to complete. Since then I have been unable to boot to windows. HP screen comes on and I am able to access Bios and Boot menu but that's where it stops. HP diagnostic tool at start says everything passes. I wanted to try booting from disc. I have another machine but its running windows 10 32 bit. Any way of creating a 64 bit boot disc from my 32 bit machine.

View 3 RepliesI have just upgraded to Win 10 about a week ago. Several times I have looked for recently created documents and could not find them right away. They eventually appeared but they should be there right away.
Example: I saved a docx file and then saved it as a PDF document, but neither file appeared in the folder I saved them to when I wanted to attach it to an email (did not see it in the Mail app client attachment dialog, nor in File Explorer, nor in my business's email web site attach file dialog box). I had the document still open, so I saved it again, in a different folder and then saved a new PDF. Still unable to find it to add it to the email. Eventually, the files both showed up but I had to wait about 10 minutes (I think).
I have an Acer PC which was running an OEM version of Windows 7 SP1. I upgraded to Win10 using the regular upgrade process, and then created a boot disc using the MCT for installing on my new SSD. All went well, I was activated so I wrote down the Product ID (which I thought was my Product Key) and installed my new SSD. Installed Windows again, but in the process accidentally formatted the original HDD, which I wasn't concerned about because I had backed up my personal files and was looking for a clean install regardless.
Now I have 10 installed and running fine on my SSD, but it won't activate. I don't have the original successful install on an HDD anymore, and my OEM Windows 7 copy isn't available to recover to anymore either. I guess if the only option is rolling back to 7 and starting this all from scratch, how do I go about that, assuming I only have a Windows 7 .iso from the internet?
As the title say, is there any workaround to avoid creating 4 different partitions during a clean install of Windows 10?

I think one is necessary and unavoidable (the MSR one), but the other ones should be used for optional services that you may not require, like restore etc.
I couldn't find a work around yesterday and in the end I gave up and accepted those 4 partitions...
I was just creating a folder on my C drive (SSD) when I noticed that the attribute is set to read-only. I've tried clearing the attribute many ways using the link below but to no avail. Right-clicking on the folder does not show the option to Take Ownership. how to correct it?

the homegroup showing was created on an old computer no longer around. After the recent large Win 10 update my two computers cannot see each other. I have a Netgear router an Net Genie can see the the computers on ethernet network but shows them as unavailable. My internet connection is working on both computers.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Win10/Office 2016 from Win7/Office 2013. At the same time, I changed my web mail (Gmail) from POP3 to IMAP. Since the upgrade, Outlook creates *.ost data files instead of *.pst data files.
As far as I am able to determine, *.ost files are a product of or are otherwise related to an Exchange server, with which I am not associated., i.e., I am using my home custom PC. I also log in to Win10 with a local (vs. Microsoft) account. In Outlook, Work Offline in Send/Receive preferences is grayed out and red Xed; the Outlook icon in the task bar is also red Xed.
All of my searches about this issue relate it to Outlook behavior with an Exchange server. Not being on an Exchange server, I can find no solutions. When I first set up Win10, I logged on using a MS account but no longer do so. Nevertheless, I am wondering if I am tied to MS servers.
My question: however I accomplish it, how do I tweak Outlook to create *.pst data files instead of the *.ost data files.

View 1 RepliesI am using windows 10, and cpuid cpu-z was working perfectly for me. I even uninstalled the program and opened it back up afterwards but it gave me the same message. I open it up and it gives me an error message.Then I display the error log file and I get a text document in which I have listed below, and cut out the name of the user account for the sake of the picture. It also gives me the message "Mutex not created." When I click OK, CPU-Z opens up but displays no information.
I switched the admin account and turned it into a user account, and changed my user account to the admin. I did this because I had just created that new user account and decided I shouldn't use the admin account on a daily basis and I knew that I wouldn't use that new user account because it would just take too long to set up, so I just changed that user account to the admin.
When using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft what is the size of the ISO that is created for X64 Windows Pro? The one I created is smaller than one I created from the install.esd file. The size I see is 3.10 GB (3,333,357,568 bytes). Can that be right?
