New Mini PC Will Not Wake Up After Longer Sleeps
Oct 8, 2015
I've bought a completely new ASUS VivoPC that comes with these specifications: [URL]....
My problem with this computer is that it will not always wake up from sleep mode, especially during longer sleeps over the night. Normally I press a button and it turns on immediately, but sometimes my keyboard and mouse refuse to respond and my computer sleep indefinitely until I press the power button behind the PC. I know that the computer is still sleeping because the strip of light in front of the computer starts blinking every time I put it to sleep, and there is no change in its behavior when it won't startup normally. After booting it up it puts me right where I was before putting it to sleep like nothing happened.
I have updated windows 10, BIOS and all my drivers except for the newest GeForce drivers because version 355 and 358 gives me a BSOD (Driver Power State Failure) that loops on startup indefinitely. The only way to fix it is to revert back to 353 through safe mode or use system restore point. I have already written an extensive post about it here for more details: [URL]....
I have also tried formatting my PC several times, but the problem still persists even on a brand new install. The PC is only two weeks old so I should still have my warranty in check. Despite the two problems I really like the PC. I have other VivoPC's that works perfectly, but they do not have both intel and NVIDIA graphic drivers. So I have been suspecting that these cards conflict somehow.

My motherboard is a P8Z77-V, with Gigabyte 7950 video card, if that matters.
I did the windows 10 upgrade, and all seems well, except waking from Standby.
If I go into start menu, and choose sleep, everything spins down, and the computer shuts itself off. I am assuming this 'sleep' is some sort of hibernate.
But when I leave the computer over night I come back and the monitors are off,but lights on tower on. I am assuming this is standby mode? Anyway, I can't wake the computer from it, using mouse or keyboard (both USB). Clicking power button on tower does nothing. I generally have to click the reset button on tower and do a full boot sequence. When I log in, I do not get a message about windows not shutting down properly (maybe that message is no more in 10?), but clearly it is a fresh desktop.
I reset all bios settings, and update to most recent bios. I have the latest graphics drivers.
Here is some investigating I did, hopefully it works:
Code:
D:UsersShea.Wilbur>powercfg /aThe following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep Fast StartupThe following sleep states are not available on this system: Standby (S1) The system firmware does not support this standby state. Standby (S2) The system firmware does not support this standby state. Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Code:
C:WINDOWSsystem32>powercfg /sleepstudyS0 Low Power Idle is not supported on this machine. Cannot run tool. BIOS settings to check?

I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.

So originally I upgraded my mini PCI card and was trying to get that working... It was recognized in the device manager but not the network connections.. I could not see the adapter to use or enable/disable etc despite having the drivers up to date. Now I have my old card back in and now have the same issue with it! It is present without a problem and with the newest drivers in network connections... But I can't use it, can't see it anywhere else! I try to create a new connection in network connections and it does not give me wireless as an option.Running Windows 10 64bit on a Sony VAIO SVT151A11u laptop. The old wireless card that is reinstalled is an Atheros AR9485WB-EG.

Mine Dell Dimension 9200 bought with Dell Wireless keyboard & mouse.
This has been working flawless inWin 7 Ultimate x64. The keyboard still uses the Dell's BT Mini Receiver and the Mouse is Logitec M510 with it's own Logitec unifying receiver.
Since my upgrade to Win10 just now, the wireless keyboard is non communicable with the system. The Logitech mouse is working.
Under device manager Bluetooth -Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 USB has a yellow exclamation mark. My attempt to update the driver - gets a message as the latest is installed.

My desktop ignores the settings in Power Options and automatically goes to sleep. I have made sure that all of the advanced settings are set to Never. In the screen saver settings, it reverts back to 2 minutes after I apply the changes. Also, editing the value for ScreenSaveTimeOut found in location HKCUControl PanelDesktop from 120 to say, 3600, has no effect and reverts after refreshing. Deleting the key altogether also has no effect.

I had installed Windows 10 for over a week now. The issue of windows not sleeping after sleeping once after startup from a shutdown has been going on for a couple of days.
I've been through many of the power options that deal with what devices wake up the computer, and I have turned them all off at one point which did not work, Windows 10 still refused to sleep properly after sleeping once.
I've went to power options and made sure that the sleep button makes the computer sleep, but it still refuses to sleep after it slept once. I'm really unsure where to solve this, and I don't think this issue has been addressed with Windows 10 yet. Perhaps this is a bug?

After installing Windows 10 a while back I began seeing a "Your computer is low on memory" error... this error only appears after the computer goes to sleep and is woken up, and never happened on Windows 7 or 8.1. Nothing has changed except for the os
The os is on 250gb ssd with 164gb of free space. I have a second ssd that I install software to (Autodesk, Adobe, etc) and it has over 150 gb of free space. There is a 1tb hd for general storage which has over 500gb of free space
When the "Your computer is low on memory" error occurs windows says it needs to shut down programs to save memory, this causes any program that's open to stop responding and crash. Also, when this happens one of my monitors typically freezes up (usually monitor 2) and the default playback device for my sounds (monitor 3) gets changed and I can't hear any audio until I restart the computer.
After a restart everything seems fine. None of this happened until I installed windows 10...

I downloaded windows 10 yesterday and everything seemed to be working fine. However, every time I shut my computer, it's supposed to go into sleep mode from which a shake of the mouse will wake it. It is indeed going to sleep, but I can't wake it through any interaction with the mouse or keyboard. The power light is still on, indicating that the computer is sleeping, but I can't get it to wake up. I have had to hold the power button to turn it off and then on and I'm pretty sure that's terrible for my computer to not shut down properly.

I have been unable to get Wake on LAN functionality to work in Windows 10:
I am attempting to do a Wakeup on LAN to my desktop computer which is running Windows 10 from my laptop which is also running Windows 10. The desktop computer is connected to my router through a wired Ethernet connection and the laptop is connected to the same router via a wireless connectionI'm doing this within my Local Area Network so I'm not going through a router from the external networkI've upgraded the driver on my network adapter to the latest versionI've enabled all the required functionality in the BIOS to enable Wake on LANI've turned on all the required settings in my network adapter to enable Wake on LANI've disabled "Fast Startup" in Windows 10I'm using the "Wake on LAN" software application from Aquila TechnologyThe software is installed on both my desktop and laptop and I've tested it with the desktop in "listening" mode and verified that the desktop receives "magic" wake-up packets when it is up-and-runningWhen my desktop system is powered down and I send it a Magic Packet in exactly the same way as I did when it was powered up, nothing happens and it doesn't respond to the wake-up packet

I have Windows 10 on my laptop - have for about a month. I installed their updates a couple of days ago, and since then, when my laptop goes to sleep, it won't wake up! When i open the top, the power light is lit, like it normally would, but nothing! Just a black screen So I have to hold the the power button down for a reset, and it has to completely reboot before I can use it again. Apart from this being frustrating as all hell, and time consuming, I am worried that I am going to damage my laptop doing this constantly. How do I fix this?

I was planning on doing a script that behaves differently depending on which wake source type waking up my system from hibernate. Im abled to differentiate between timer wake-up and mouse/keyboard wake-up, but not between mouse/keyboard and wake on magic packets. "Powercfg -lastwake" doesnt give sufficient info on hibernation wake sources. Using standby instead there is more info but there seem to be a problem.
Mouse/keyboard wake-ups and wake on magic packets both reports the network card as wake source type. That is clearly messed up, which makes it impossible to use standby altogether. I do prefer hibernate though. Its very hard to find info going deeper into this subject in order to get answers. Most topics just scratches the surface discussing issues with unwanted wake-ups, which I dont have. How retrieval of wake sources works and how to implicate lastwake/wake source results?
Code:
Hibernate...Wake on LAN2015-09-26 15:59:48 - Wake History Count - 1Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0Standby...Wake on LAN2015-09-26 16:14:57 - Wake History Count - 1Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 1 Wake Source [0] Type: Device Instance Path: PCIVEN_8086&DEV_15A1&SUBSYS_85C41043&REV_053&11583659&0&C8 Friendly Name: Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V Description: Intel(R)

After an upgrade to Windows 10, my HP Compaq 6005 Pro Small Form Factor will not wake up properly from sleep. After sleep, if I press a key on the keyboard or press the power button, I hear the fan and hard drive start up, and the monitor goes from completely off to on yet black. (I can see a small difference, and the monitor reports that it receives a signal.) But nothing happens, including when I press various key combinations such as those which would cause rebooting. Sometimes my mouse pointer is visible but usually not. If so, the pointer will not move. If I hold down the power button, killing the power supply, and the press the power button again, the computer wakes up (not rebooting) to the condition it was before.
As a history, this machine had a clean Windows 7 install, then a Windows 10 upgrade, then a Windows 10 clean install.
[I have a vague memory that the computer originally went to sleep and woke up OK a few times, and now doesn't. However, my memory could be wrong.]
I have tried:
* all Windows updates
* using HP website for all relevant updates, including BIOS
* display adapter (graphics card) update
* Windows Power Usage Troubleshooter
* turning hibernation off and on again in the command line (powercfg /h off and on)
