When I go to Settings > Network and Internet i have very few option unlike most peoples windows 10 I've seen.
I have:
Data usage
Ethernet
Dial-Up
VPN
Proxy
But in videos and friends I've seen many more options...
But I'm currently browsing the internet and typing to you.
In fact - I can do virtually everything (League; Steam; Skype; etc) except use any OS feature that requires logging in -
e.g. Mail, User Accounts, Shop, etc. Then it says something along the lines of "Cannot use this service without an internet connection - please connect and try again." When I run Network Diagnostics as the prompt recommends - it says I am connected and cannot find a problem.
It doesn't always happen - but it seems to be determined on start-up. If I restart it now it might be working next launch - but 75% of the time it will encounter the same issue. It's been happening for months now but I've sort of gotten used to using my phone to check my emails - but I've now encountered an issue with one of my hard drives being unable to be searched (tried indexing, etc) and the only step I've found that I haven't tried says it could be a corrupted user account - but I cannot update my user account without "connecting to the internet". -_-
The system is up to date. No driver updates available.
Tried to connect to Wifi today and couldn't find how. When I searched for online assistance I noticed that it directs you to the settings and then the network & Internet tab.Except I don't have that tab in settings. Mine is only Network.
View 6 RepliesI have a Compaq CQ61-410 Notebook. After upgrading to Windows 10 I no longer have WiFi capabilities. In Windows - Settings - Network & Internet I do not have a WiFi option listed. However, if I go to Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections I see my wireless service listed. I have confirmed that I have the correct drivers loaded - Qualcomm Atheros. When I diagnose this connection I get the following message:
There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapterWindows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.
Under Network & Internet i cannot see wifi although wifi adapter is installed and showing that it is working properly.

View 1 RepliesFor some reason the Airplane mode setting can not be turned off in Network and Internet Settings, Network setting from taskbar, or Action center from taskbar. I am using my desktop and will never have it on an airplane. However, the computer does have a wifi adapter which I could use and it is able to be enabled.
Also, have other wifi devices on my home network, another PC and a tablet, a wireless printer and all are working fine. It must be a 'bug' on the desktop but someone should know that it is there. On the other PC, which is an all in one, the Airplane mode is not even in the settings anywhere.
I have all the setting I can find that when I close lid to laptop it does nothing when plugged in. I have it set to do not sleep unless I tell it too period. Yes went through 'all' settings. So it will run scans, maintenance etc during night but like lid closed. But when I get up and open lid it wants me to sign back in and scan say it couldn't run.

View 2 RepliesOn my Win 10 Pro X 64 Laptop I go to Internet Options and would like to change the home page but the option to "use current" is grayed out. I use Firefox as my default browser and it opens the home page I want but in Edge I open the page I want to be the home page and the option to change it is grayed out. Everything I have tried this option is never available. So, How do I change this? Get the button to "use current" to be not grayed out?

2. Told in Account Settings to Verify account, Clicked on Verify and no response every time.
3. Changed to User account and now cannot change back to Administrator Account.
4. Nothing in my settings will respond when clicked.
Tried troubleshooting links and all sorts though to no avail.
I added a registry tweak that unlocked the power option to park the CPU...I am running a PC so battery life or power use is not an issue..just want to be clear about the min and max settings....thought it would be just ON or OFF...its the %s that confuse me....So if i set the min to 100% I assume that turns oof parking completely ?If I set max to 100% this allows the CPU to go to the max it can ? So is the min setting for parking ? and the max to just restrict the max the CPU will run ?If these assumptions are correct....what are the %s in between for ?
View 3 RepliesWhen I try and access sign-in options in the settings account screen, I get the dreaded dots that shoot across the screen but the sign-in options don't open.
Also i cannot access my microsoft account, when I try I just get the circle of dots.
I have an Acer Aspire E1-572 running Windows 10. The computer has an Elan smart pad drivers. I recently updated to windows 10 but after it was installed, my touchpad settings changed. I tried to change the settings to how they were before, now i can no longer adjust the sensativity or have the inertia " momentum" settings enabled. Those are no longer options listed on the driver settings.
I am disabled with limited mobiity and I rely on the ability to flick the mouse and have the cursor travel across the screen. Without these settings I am struggling to use the computer.
I am the only owner of my computer. And all the proxy options are grayed out.. ! "Some settings are managed by your organization" . I am using Windows 10 Pro.
View 10 RepliesWhen I start up my computer the lock screen shows 2 accounts. One has just my name, which I am trying to remove because it default tries to log into. The second is my microsoft @live account which Ive used from day one. When I go into accounts it shows I have 1 account on this computer, its the one I use @live to sign in. Really confusing and Im not sure that to do.

when i was running windows 8.1 i had options for three finger functions , that went when i installed windows ten for the first time and i could only get two finger options available , now with the latest install there is only options for one finger functions
I am have synaptics pointing device but i though i had elan pointing device...
what is also weird is when i open the synaptics pointing device in the tray manager , i have an option for accessories with pressure graph and moonpad options , not sure what they are but clicked on them and i get a message this option requires a synaptics pointing device and synaptics pointing device driver
I've tried device manager check driver update and it says working properly and driver is using the latest update.
I ran into something strange this morning when I logged onto my computer: I couldn't connect to my wireless network anymore.
Fairly standard, I thought I'd go reset the router and have it be done with, but then I noticed that my phones were both still fully connected. (2 android phones on different OS versions). So my router itself wasn't have a problem, and I was still receiving internet.
I restarted my computer, as any good human being does, and the problem persisted. I then 'forgot the network' and restarted. Typing in my password again and trying to connect, didn't work.
I then remembered I had recently updated Windows 10 #sillyme (Not like I had a choice anyway x_x) So I thought maybe the driver had been updated. Nope. I even tried uninstalling the driver anyway and restarting. Nothing changed.
OK, so then maybe it's my hardware that's going bad? Luckily I have a dual boot So I booted up Ubuntu instead of windows and bam, everything is working perfectly. Absolutely no problems with connecting to my network.
Can't connect to WiFi network. I've already tried: restarting computer, forgetting the network, and uninstalling the driver. Also, it's not hardware as I can connect on the same machine using a different OS.
I just installed Windows 10 upgrade to my HP laptop over Win 7. Every thing is fine but some thing strange happened.
All other WiFi connections in and around my apartment can be seen by Windows 10, except my WiFi network !! I can see a lot of SSDs in my area but can't see mine!
I can access my WiFi network from my desktop and my phone, but not from my HP laptop. Device Manager shows that my network adapter is Intel Centrino. There is, however, an exclamation mark over "Unknown Device" which needs a driver that Win 10 could not provide.
I upgraded to Win 10 with 2 computers and my WIFI network worked with my printers and even a third computer not at that time upgraded. Yesterday I upgraded the third computer to Win 10.
I noticed that the name shown for my WIFI network was changed on the computers after another update on the software. Now I cannot get to my printer on my WIFI networks!
I called forWin 10 support and aafter waiting 1 1/2 hours goot to talk to a live person who told me they would charge me for fixing the problem! I told him that I had not installed, changed anything and he said it must be in my computer and they wanted to charge me - they were not "forcing me" I asked to talk to a supervisor and he gave me a number to call that went to a OLD peoples health support number!
Is the answer to change operating systems?
Whats going on with my tablet (WinBook). I've installed W10 few weeks ago since then never had any problems with it, but today I noticed I cannot connect to wifi. it's gone from Network settings, if I open "connection" icon on task bar I only see Airplane mode..Network adapter from Device manager is also gone. What to do now...
I did try this - connect to internet via Bluetooth from Lumia phone and with Intel Driver Update Utility scanned tablet, only thing it found is update for Graphics driver.. what else can I do?
So I installed windows 10 and everything was fine until recently when my computer suddenly disconnected from the wifi network in my house. I've tried everything and nothing working, i even tried using the the Ethernet cable and it worked but as soon as I disconnect the cable it'll have no wifi access. It's not my wifi or router because My phone and other things connect and work fine. My network just won't show up on the list.

I had trouble following the setup directions because I can find NO wi-fi settings on my computer. When I went to my Notebook computer, there was a wi-fi icon in the systray which enabled me to choose the necessary network. So for my desktop I just went ahead and set up a new broadband connection. I have just bought a new windows 10 machine. It finds my home WIFI but fails to connect with the message "Can't connect to this network".
I have tried all the obvious issues such as re-booting (every component). I have several windows 7 machines and have checked the configuration of the wireless adaptors and there is nothing different around security, or 802 protocol selected etc. I have tuned off IP version 6 after reading some forums but get the same error.

My first experience with Windows 10 has been extremely frustrating and wasted a lot of time. I see that this is also a very common problem. Equally frustrating is the lack of diagnostic from Windows...I appear to have no way of knowing why the connection failed (hence why I have shown the router log).
I have a network that has 3 laptops running Win 10. 2 of the computers (haven't checked the third yet) indicate they are on the same network SSID. One computer can print from the printers on the network.
The second laptop had the same printers and was able to print to them prior to Win 10. Now the SSID is the same as the first computer yet it can't print nor can it see any printers oe devices on the network!
