I am all upgraded to 1511 on my SP3 but I still don't have the hand written reminder option in Cortana. Is it available outside of US? ( I am in UK ) As an asides, Cortana has never uttered a word to me - always silent.

Is there a way to get Cortana's reminders on the iPhone? When you create a reminder on Windows 10 does it get stored in a calendar that you could then sync to the iPhone? Or are Cortana's reminders tucked away in an inaccessible place?
I cannot view my Windows Calendar any more. When it is opened a blue background with the picture of a calendar in the middle pops up. I can still use Cortana to set up appointments and reminders. Everything is in my Outlook Calendar though so my appointments, etc. are not gone. I thought about going to the Store and setting it back up but will it have my appointments and stuff, if I do that? Will it sync again? Like I said, I can still use it with Cortana but cannot view it.

View 9 RepliesI am on windows 10 Pro 10586.63 with all updates applied. Whether through Cortana or by keyboard, the data is accepted but when I hit the REMIND button it comes back with an error message saying the reminder can't be placed.
I did a lot searching here and on google and found nothing.
Every time that I start up my laptop and load up my desktop, Compatibility Assistant gives me the exact same reminders every time. What do I need to do to stop this constant notification every time that I start up my system?

I'm playing around with the calendar app and can't get it to sync. I have put different reminders in calendar on my desktop, laptop and Win 10 phone. None of the reminders show up on the other devices. Mail works Ok. What do I need to do to get the reminders to show up in all devices? All devices are logged into my MS account.
View 3 RepliesOkay, last night I was playing fine on my built PC with windows 10, everything worked and nothing was wrong. But when I started it this moring it was greated by an unusually long lasting black screen on startup and was only able to see my mouse. That's problem #1. Now I bypassed this by hitting space bar and entering my password to log into my computer..After logging in I see that all of my icons on my desktop are gone. I tried to open chrome from my taskbar and the taskbar shows that its open but noting appears on my screen when I try to acess it. This is the same with all of my apps.
I also can't see any of the icons on the bottom right hand of my desktop either .(such as the wifi signal and the volume mixer) I can hit my windows button and can navigate a menu that's is contained in that box. But can't open anything. I've tryed restarting, ctrl alt del only brings me to another black screen.This is my full build. I have had no problems with the computer before today.
I updated to Windows 10 a week or so ago, and since then I've noticed that I no longer seem to have a right-hand click menu function: on Chrome/Explorer, it opens the link I'm clicking on in another tab or window, but on everything else either nothing at all happens or the scrolling arrows appear. Why this is, and how to get it back?
(to be clear: I'm talking about the menu that has copy/paste/select all etc on standard programs, or thesaurus/font etc on Microsoft Word.)
The ability to pin a shortcut to the left hand of the start menu was a function apparently removed in RC. This really affected my productivity with 10 so I reverted to 7 after a week. I would like to go back to 10 ....
View 1 RepliesI keep getting unwanted pop in on bottom right hand corner (Firefox). This started after I upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1. It is usually titled "Find your happiness". If I click on it an error page relating to Apache Tomcat (whatever that is!) appears. How can I stop this happening?
View 4 RepliesBack in the good old days of W7, you could pin an application to the start menu and it would appear on the left hand side and it would also offer a list of recently opened things within that application as a right arrow for ease of selection.
For example, within putty I have 2 saved sessions, when I pinned putty to the start menu in W7, it would pin the main program, but a right-arrow would accompany it and let me easily select Saved Session 1 or Saved Session 2 without having to launch putty manually. Similarly for something like notepad, you could pin that and it would come with an arrow and let you open your most recent opened documents without having to open notepad first and then selecting your text file. See attached W7 example png.
The W10 start menu does not let you do this at all. I can pin programs to the pig awful tiles section but critically it does not provide me with an easy method of selecting something within an app to launch via that app without launching that app first. It must be capable of doing something like it because the default File Explorer menu has the arrow and selection box.
The hack I can come up with is somehow manually editing my MRU list but is it easier than that? Is there reasonably well built in method for doing simple customisations to the W10 start menu! And if not, tell me how I can manually edit my MRU even though it throws the whole concept of recently used out the window if I'm just going to add stuff to it that I want.

Woke up this morning fired up toshiba laptop, windows started to update as usual.now I can`t use windows start button in left hand corner or access apps or any shortcuts in taskbar. right click on windows icon still opens desktop. is it possible to correct the problem by uninstalling the latest update, if so how?
View 9 RepliesMy Screen is displaying off center to the right just a little. I only found one other mention of this on another forum with no solution. There is a black strip on the left hand side of my screen. The other post was on a MS forum they theorized it had to do with the Intel HD device driver. I did not have this problem with Windows7. Hope the graphic card I have coming will fix this.
View 6 RepliesI already have a Microsoft account that I've been using for some months with OneDrive. When I start Cortana it requires me to log into that account. I do so, but then it pops up a screen telling me to "Enter your old password one last time", and then "From here on out, you'll unlock this device using the password or PIN you just set up.
Before we can say goodbye to your local password, you need to provide it one last time." It then gives me another password box and says "(leave blank if none)".
But it won't let me leave it blank, and when I re-enter my Microsoft account password, it tells me its incorrect...even though it works fine with OneDrive. What PIN it refers to, nor what it is trying to accomplish...but it has stopped me trying out Cortana.
Don't use her very often yet. Mostly ok desktop since I have a gaming headset. Don't want to use it on laptop though. Haven't been able to get it to work with webcam mic. Is it even possible ?

View 4 RepliesI have successfully set up Cortana on two user accounts, however when I now try to set Cortana up on a user account I get stuck in a loop. I get the screen up that says "One last thing sign in with Microsoft account. Enter old password one last time". I do this then I am shown "That way, I can keep track of what you want me to know".Then I get " Welcome back lets pick up where we left off".
Then it just goes round in a never ending loop. I have created new user accounts to see if the problem was with existing accounts, but still no joy.Looking for answers to the problem on the internet, I have seen it suggested that something can be done by editing the registry, but I do not feel confident to mess about with the registry.I had thought resetting the computer, but am worried that I may not get Cortana to work on any accounts (it is working on two accounts at the moment)
I thought that Microsoft added the ability to text using Cortana but I cant get her to no matter what.
View 1 RepliesThis actually started back in build 9926. The left third of my screen shattered, so I moved the taskbar over to the right edge, and as soon as I did Cortana just stopped working. Her symbol changed to the generic search magnifying glass, she won't open when prompted, and neither will her settings in the settings app.

In the 'Cortana and search settings', I get the message "Cortana isn't supported in the region and language you've selected". I have configured my microphone for speech input.
