No Sound With Realtek
Aug 4, 2015
So I recently upgraded to Windows 10 via a clean installation. Everything running well, except the sound. I've tried upgrading drivers (uninstalling, auto installing, downloading from motherboard site and installing). And also, the famous changing bit rate and disabling enhancement I've tried plugging into back side/ front side of desktop.

I'm having an incredibly frustrating issue with my sound where it randomly, for no reason that I can find,- stops working completely. I've reinstalled my audio drivers, ensured they're up to date, I've run chkdsk's and done just about everything short of a reinstall, but no dice.
When the audio breaks, spam-disabling and re-enabling the speaker in Playback devices will occasionally solve it for a few more minutes before it eventually breaks completely again, forcing me to reboot. This happens every once every 20-40 minutes, with no pattern or any trigger that I've been able to find.
The bars in the volume mixer are still moving as if sound is playing, the in-built Windows 10 audio troubleshooter can't find any problems, and my music player keeps playing music etc. as usual. The only indicator that the sound has stopped working (beyond the obvious lack of sound) is that youtube videos get choppy and start stuttering.
Here is what my Device Manager shows in sound and audio; [URL] .... Note that disabling/enabling High Definition Audio and Realtek Audio in various combinations does nothing to fix the issue.
Here's my dxdiag log [URL] .... I'm using Windows 10, and my motherboard is an Acer FMP55

I have a Fangbook III made by Cyperpower PC. I am unable to play sound via the on-board speakers for the laptop. I am however able to play sound through the 3.5mm auxiliary jack input. I have speakers set as default device under the playback settings.
This is where is gets strange. Whenever I attempt to delete the Realtek audio driver, whether it is through windows or a 3rd-party driver uninstallation software, Realtek always comes back within a few seconds. Right before it does come back, under playback, it separates speakers and headphones with both having the driver High Definition Audio Device. If I hurry before the Realtek driver comes back the speakers seems to work! But once the Realtek audio speakers comes back, the default speakers and headphones goes away and I continue to have the same problem with the Realtek driver.
I attempted to reformat the computer with windows 10 and erase all drivers but Realtek was already installed. I assume it is required for this specific laptop? How to direct the Reaktek High Definition Audio driver to use the speakers instead of the auxiliary jack?

So I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)

The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?

I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?

This started happening the same day I upgraded from 8.1, but it went away. Suddenly it's come back worse than it ever was. I've tried uninstalling my Realtek drivers and rebooting and I've tried changing the sample rate. No change. I can't listen to music, watch videos, play games without the audio stuttering.

So, I have a windows 10 desktop and I'm having this issue with my Realtek Audio Driver. Every time I enable any sound effects to adjust the EQ for my audio device, I begin to hear a popping or crackling sound whenever any audio is heard. But if I disable the EQ effects, the problem is gone. I've tried installing Realtek's Windows 10 drivers but the problem persists.

I was previously on Windows 7 and upgraded to 10 when the notifications came out last month. In W7 I was able to open the SOUND RECORDER program
and then record sounds from the video that was playing through the internet explorer I was using at that time. It did NOT matter which internet explorer I was using, be it IE or CHROME or FIREFOX, etc. I was previously able to open a video, for example youtube, and then record the sound that was playing into the SOUND RECORDER program, and then save that file on my desktop as a WMA.
I have not been able to find the SOUND RECORDER program in Windows 10. Is it gone? I've tried downloading a couple freebie programs that are similar to it, but they're not recording the sounds either. So now I'm thinking maybe Windows 10 bypassed or simply disregarded my sound card altogether, ? Is that a possibility?

When I was viewing my windows 10 updates I saw some unusual update history of my Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader, (see attachments)I very rarely use this on my Dell Inspiron ONE but thought I would just check it out, and it did of course not work, I tried to find the driver in Device Manager but could not find it? How to know about installing the driver again if it is missing, I tried an external usb card reader and this is seen in File Explorer unlike built in one with sd card inserted.

I'm having an incredibly frustrating problem with my Windows 10 laptop. The laptop in question is a Clevo P650SE with the i7-4720HQ and GTX 970M. I reinstalled Windows last week and now i can't get rid of this damn Realtek driver. Whenever i uninstall the Realtek software from Control Panel, it comes straight back after a reboot.
A lot of websites suggest heading into the 'Device Installation Settings' and hitting 'No (Your device might not work as expected)' but this has no effect towards the issue. On previous builds of Windows 10 this worked fine, so i'm not sure what to do next.

Realtek HD Changing Jack output reassignments ( FIX ) - I found this old thread but Its not useful because my regedit index doesn't look the same as theirs.
I don't have a "DevType_0888_SS147b1083" or "DevType_0885_SS18490890" folder in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}000Settings"
Mine is named "Drv7541_DevType_0889_SS10438418" and I don't know which files I'm supposed to edit there.
This is what it looks like....

Last night I plugged in headphones to the small round jack (not the USB) and sound worked fine as Iistened to a program. When I unplugged the headphones, I cannot get any sound to come out of the computer. I've tried restarting, muting/un-muting, and I've looked at all audio settings I can find. I cannot locate headphones settings - they don't show up anywhere. I recently installed the Windows 10 update a couple of weeks ago and this is the first time I've used headphones in this jack. Wondering if I need updated drivers but can't locate and system says drivers are fine.

Basically when I try to record my voice all I hear is very strongly distorted sound, no speech is recognizable. I tried updating drivers, all mic settings I can think of but with no success.
When I open the Realtek manager and click the icon for playback on my mic settings the audio is crystal clear, and if possible I would like to have this instead of what is actually outputted. I dont know how to set that working
I clicked to "Listen to this device" and all I hear is VERY distorted sound, no speech is recognizable.
So from what I understand the mic is perfectly fine, the drivers should be fine but the quality that is outputted is terrible. Is there anyway to output what I hear from the playback on realtek? [URL] ....

I have an Asus Maximus VI Hero and am trying to download drivers after my clean install of Windows 10. I downloaded the file for my boards audio driver from the asus website but when I ran it the program kept saying it needed to uninstall the previous driver before installing the new one and then restart. It kept restarting and doing that over and over again never actually installing the new driver.

I bought new parts on 14th of Jan (i5 6600k, Asus Maximus VIII Gene, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4gb 3600 mHz). Swapped them with my old i5 760, Gigabyte motherboard and 8gb RAM.
The day after I installed my new components, Windows prompted me to activate Windows (apparently a new motherboard counts as a new computer thus a new license required). I ignored it, installed all the new drivers for my motherboard and CPU (Realtek worked fine BTW). 2 days later I couldn't stand the "Activate Windows" thingy at the bottom of my screen, so I decided so sacrifice my money to Microsoft to buy another license of Windows 8.1 Pro.
Installed Windows 8.1 Pro via USB (erased all data on SSD first) and upgraded to Win 10 from there.
So there I was on a clean Win 10. Used Ninite to install most common Apps, and went over to my motherboard's driver page over on ASUS's website. Downloaded the Realtek Audio Driver from there ((4.35) 6.0.1.7629), and tried to install it.
While I find the Realtek installer really outdated and janky, it normally works. The installer showed up and began extracting all sorts of files (mostly .dll files), the big blue window in the back popped up and after a while the message "InstallShield Wizard is installing..." popped up. It was then when I received the message: "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !! [Error Code : 0xE0000234".
So it's listed between Programs and Features, and I can also find it in the Device Manager, Under "Other Devices" as "Unknown Device". When I double click that the status reports:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Driver is not intended for this platform.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clicked "update driver", manually searched for the drivers in the extracted setup folder, didn't work.

I've just updated my Dell Inspiron 7537 laptop to Windows 10.
All is working fine apart from the built in Realtek card reader. When the PC starts, the card reader appears as a drive and I can read/write to the card. However, the reader will randomly show no content in file explorer and the drive disappears altogether if I remove and reinsert the card. The card reader reappears if I restart the PC. Device Manger shows no problems with the card reader.
I've tried the Dell Windows 10 driver, the latest driver on Realtek's site and the driver installed by Windows update but all fail in the same way. The card reader was fine in Windows 8 so I think it's a software issue.

I am trying to start a hosted network on my Windows 10 system, but every time I got something like "The group or resource is not in the correct state." I then ran "netsh wlan show driver" and see that it is using a Realtek RTL8723BS driver which says it does not support hosted network. I also don't see any "Microsoft hosted network virtual driver" in my Device Manager, even if I turn on the showing of hidden devices. Does that mean there is no way I can get a hosted network to run on this device? Is there some way I can get the driver to support hosted network? (I already updated to the latest version of the driver and rebooted, and that did not work).

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. After that, my Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (ethernet) randomly stops working. After a reboot or "fixing" the problem, the card works for anywhere from 1 minute to 4 hours, then fails again.
Sometimes "failing" means that in control panel it shows that it is still connected, but doesn't actually work, [URL]
or other times it just shows that it is unplugged, when that is certainly not the case [URL]
Troubleshooting the problem with Windows troubleshooter yields three errors, seemingly random when they each appear.
The three errors are "The Default Gateway is not Available", this error [URL], and then finally a DNS error that shows up on Chrome and the Windows troubleshooter [URL]. The way the internet stops working is Chrome will stop loading web pages and give me a DNS error, shown in the most recent gyazo.
So far I have tried rebooting numerous times, (which USUALLY fixes it for a few minutes), troubleshooting with Windows troubleshooter, and changing the DNS servers to Google's (which I have now changed back to the automatic setting since my ISP, Time Warner Cable, isn't too happy about working on an external DNS server. I have also tried eight different ethernet cables, over two different networks and routers. All of this has begun after I upgraded to Windows 10.
I have tried three different drivers for the ethernet card; one from Realtek's website, one from my laptop manufacturer's website (Sager), and lastly Window's generic one, none of which have worked for me. It could be a coincidence, but it seems that if I have constant load on my ethernet card, it lasts for much longer without failing.

Upgraded to Windows 10..
Problem is audio driver. Each time I use the driver on ASRock page it says its two part process.. says it uninstalls old Realtek driver, reboots, and installs new ...
Each time it reboots and starts over saying it has to remove old. I tried removing old on my own first and starting over.. still no effect.. what do i do ...
I am a bit suspicious if Windows keeps on installing an older driver or something so it keeps starting over...

Recently I purchased a Logitech h151 headset which has only one single jack, as my ASUS laptop has only one jack used for a headset. However, upon connecting the headset, although the sound plays through it perfectly and without issue, the microphone doesn't seem to work.
I've tried multiple solutions - I went to the Realtek Audio Manager to try and find advanced options, as I read that a possible fix to this is to go there and select an option to separate all input jacks. However, I cannot seem to find advanced options anywhere. I have also entered the Sound section in the control panel, and under the microphone section my external microphone was not detected, even after showing all disabled devices.
As for the Realtek Audio Manager issue, I read of several solutions to make advanced options pop up - from updating the driver to completely uninstalling it and such. As you can probably understand, I would rather not result to such things as messing with the drivers, as I am not a tech-savvy person and will not be able to claw out of a technical hole should I get into one.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, the internal mic is being used and can be detected (of course).
