Recently 'upgraded' to 10 from 7.System boots but then BSODs after a short period of time (a delayed service startup?).I suspect it is related to Intel Rapid Storage drivers or similar.
View 2 RepliesI have a legacy 64 bit dual core desktop (ASUS mobo). I have several Sata hard drives in it with the 4th partition of my 1 Terabyte drive containing my Windows 10 Professional boot OS. After converting another similar legacy machine to a NAS device I took the old Windows 10 32 bit OS drive from it and tried booting the ASUS machine with it. Needless to say, the OS didn't like it and reverted to Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview edition (build 11082).
When I tried to restore the boot drive to the original one for this machine the master boot was missing.
I had just formatted another partition on the same drive that had contained a Windows7 installation that had failed. This partition may have contained the master boot record. So I booted to a command prompt from a USB drive and successfully ran the following commands:
bootrec /RebuildBcdbootrec /fixMbr bootrec /fixboot bootsect /nt60 SYSbootsect /nt60 all
After that the BIOS just says "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system" This disk and OS are on the original machine it used to run on. As I understand it, Windows 10 tries to record it's key to somewhere in the BIOS. But the BIOS on these old machines don't provide such a facility. I don't understand what Windows 10 OS does with the key in this instance. If it was recorded in the BIOS then I'd presume that the other Windows 10 drive I attempted to use would have found it and used it. Or perhaps not, since it didn't like the new environment.
what I'm looking for is a way to get my original Windows 10 to boot again on the same machine it had always work on before, from the 4th partition of the 1 terabyte drive I'm using.
I had just closed my "Metal Gear Solid V" game and returned to desktop when I got a BSOD. The BSOD said there was a page fault in a non paged area, as well as an error with a .dll file but I didn't manage to get its name.
I've never gotten a BSOD on this computer before. I've had the computer for a little over a year now. Also I've played that game for over a month with no problems.
The computer has been functioning normally thus far.
I've attached a .zip file in accordance to this link: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums I also have the larger memory dump file if needed, just ask for me to upload it.
I have an Asus N73J Laptop running Windows 8.1. I have attempted (numerous times) to install Windows 10 but it always errors at about 32% completion with the BSOD - Page Fault in Nonpaged Area (Portcls.sys). I have noted and tried almost all of the fixes others have had success with but alas, I am frustrated and disappointed by the continued troubles I am having. I am assuming that the problems stem from failed driver updates (see attached jpg) but I have been unable to correct this situation.I tried to insert the setupact log file but unfortunately it is too large for download.
View 3 RepliesI have been getting a page fault in non paged area bsod for the last two day's. Today was when I tried to download the new Nvidia driver. After a reboot I was able to download it then another bsod when I tried to update the driver. My CPU is not over clocked and RAM shows no errors. Virtual memory settings are set to system managed size on all drives. I'm so sick of this I cut all power to my PC and its staying like that.
View 1 RepliesFor a while now my PC takes about 1.5 hours to start loading Windoiws and loading Windows itself takes about 30 minutes. Reinstalling didn't fix this issue. Now adding to my problem my PC froze today and after the 2 hour boot I now get the page fault in non-paged area every time I boot, and can't boot at all. I've reinserted my ram sticks the day before (trying to fix the first problem) and was able to log into Windows once until the freeze. I can't boot into safe mode or anything because of the time that it takes to start loading Windows. Makes this a lot trickier. I've got a lot of valuable data too so how should I approach this?

View 2 RepliesI recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10 (just a few days ago), and last night, after a short gaming session on the laptop, it blue-screened with the error being indicated as being: Bad_Pool_Caller. I was just wondering how I should proceed from this point on to make sure the laptop remains functional and everything works smoothly.
View 1 RepliesI've just built my new computer however am getting heaps of BSOD saying bad pool caller. I've downloaded blue screen view and here is what comes up.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7, my computer would crash once a day with a bad pool header notification. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue, and am coming here as a last resort. Below is my DM Log Collector zip.
View 1 RepliesMy friend just recently updated his computer from windows 7 to windows 10, the error only began to persist after the update
The computer is a G75vw asus laptop and has reportedly not had its drivers updated in quite some time.
The computer doesn't seem to have a problem when booting into safe mode, and we are attempting to find and update drivers for the computer.
Update- the new error is code is 0xc000007b don't know the change, but the internet was disconnected right before the error came up.
I tried updating to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Pro Sp1.
Update went through fine but as soon as I get to the login screen and hit enter I get a BSOD with Bad Pool Header.
I couldn't boot into safe mode, do the "reset my PC" option or system restore. The system restore says image corrupt.
Only thing I could do is go back to previous build, which worked.
So now I was going to try to manually install, but getting the Windows 10 iso through the media creation tool. I load it up and it just loads and says "something Happened" 0x8007002- 0x20016. I also wanted to get my product key to have on hand for when I do get it to work. So I load up Produkey, and it says my Product Key not found.
There is a script that is on the MS scripting site that will query and convert the key from hex to decimal. I run that and it reports back just "B". All B's.
So im assuming my key got screwed up during the install. Not sure what else i can do if I don't have a key to install Windows 10 when I get an ISO from another computer.
I started getting some BSOD errors after updating to Windows 10 from 8.1. Windows 10 updated a couple months ago, and since that update I get bad pool header crashes multiple times a day. I used the DM log collector and attached the file.
View 3 RepliesI followed the instructions and uninstalled Kapersky Antivirus. Still getting the Bad Pool Called Blue Screen now and again. Also finding I can not turn on my windows defender it just keeps turning it self back off again instantly. I have uploaded the dmp files.
View 3 RepliesWhat is a "bad pool header". When it comes up it demands to reboot. Things will be just fine and then occasionally it will come up again and demands a reboot. Is there any "fix". What is going on, any way to fix it, to stop the process. What and why is it occurring?
View 4 RepliesI upgraded from W7 to Win 10, i've had like 8 Blue screens of death since I updated.
Here is a link to my minidumps, i ran a CClean, so it got rid of some of my dumps, but there is a couple here: [URL]
Every since I upgraded to windows 10 and boot my desktop machine I get a BSOD with Bad Pool header. It keeps looping and rebooting with the same error. The only way around it is to go into the bios and save changes and then it allows me to log in. I have disabled fast reboot and still no joy. Attached is a log file with all the relevant info
View 3 Replies'm having a major crash issue with 'bad pool caller'. i found a similar thread and tried to follow.BSOD bad_pool_caller, possibly related to wi-fi adapter - Windows 10 Forums.
View 3 RepliesUpgraded a stable Win7 laptop to windows 10 and started getting Bad Pool Header BSODs. Some I cleared ( It used to happen immediately when connecting the network cable).
It happens a short time after I connect with the regular windows VPN to our office.
Attached is the dump files...
I'm having for a while a BSOD Bad pool caller. All the drivers and software in my OS are up to date. I don't think it's a memory problem, the Windows Memory Diagnostic gave me no errors, I also tried the SFC /SCANNOW to try fixing the file systems, and also chkdsk /r to check and the disk integrity, but everything seems cool. I did all types of virus/malware scans with mcafee and malwarebytes, my system still seems clean.
I'm using a ACER Aspire E5 - 511 - P29D: Intel Pentium quad core processor N3540.
It doesn't happen at a particular moment, I can be browsing on the Internet or watching a movie. And it's not frequent, it happens every 3 or 4 days. It started 6, 7 weeks ago, after I did a upgrade to Windows 10. I haven't made any change to my computer yet.
After I upgraded to Windows 10 I have been getting BSODs at when either watching videos in VLC or playing mainly World of Warcraft. The primary BSOD I have been getting is the bad_pool_header which first occurred a week after upgrading and was seemingly a random occurrence. Subsequent BSODs would occur at least every other day, if not longer apart, and I didn't think much of it. However, I experienced two bad_pool_header errors today within 4 hours of each other, both while watching videos in VLC with some web browsing so I am believing that it is a more serious error than random crashes.
View 1 RepliesI've had some issues with a BSOD for over a year now, first when I was running Windows 8 and now still with Windows 10. It first appeared after I got a USB wi-fi adapter which I replaced with an adapter that connected to the motherboard, but the BSODs have not stopped.
I inquired about it a few months ago on several other forums. It was apparently related to some driver that the USB adapter installed (the name of which I can no longer remember), but I was unable to uninstall it or delete it without my wi-fi becoming unusable. I'm also unable to use a wired connection in my apartment, though I'm not sure that would even be possible if I deleted the driver. The error code I get is "bad_pool_caller", but I believe I used to get "irql_not_less_or_equal" as well.
For some background, the BSOD usually appears when I'm doing something intensive over the internet like watching video on YouTube or Twitch, streaming audio, etc.
