Nonstop Crashing - Cannot Open Any Program Or Even Answer A Call On Skype
Aug 13, 2015
Ok so i upgraded to Win10 and so far i love it, BUT i keep getting this crash more and more often so my start menu, cortana all stop working it even keeps me from opening any program or even answer a call on skype hell if even crashes my damn task manager THEN it crashes and says CRITICAL_ PROCESS_ DIED.
I built a new PC about a month ago and it works fine and is amazing. Skype however sucks, it is always crashing and I have to resort to the Skype web which is pretty bad for group calls and can't share screens. I looked at the event viewer and this is what it said.
My Skype crashes everytime I try to open it up. The "This program is not responding error". I recently installed Windows 10 and it was working fine at first but it crapped out after only a couple days. I tried clean installing it and that didn't work.
When I join a skype call, GTA V always goes extremely quiet, so I either increase the volume of my pc so gta is audible and skype deafens me, or I increase gta's volume and still can't hear it. Is there any way to keep gta's volume the same when in a skype call?
Windows 10 email opens fine and all my email accounts appear correctly, but when I open an account to read mail, the program crashes when I try to delete an item or move to the next item. I have to reopen the program and start again.
I recently updated to windows 10. I play WoW often and lately when I get a skype call with the game on everything freezes then screen goes black. It's recovered once but typically requires me manually shutting the laptop down. It's an HP and came with 8.1. I bought it new and have had it under a year.
Wanted to add that I can usually hear sound for a while after the screen has gone black. I even continued a skype call for about 3 minutes until the sound cut out too.
Since installing Windows 10 my video picture is upside down and there is no sound. I can see the other party correctly but neither of us can hear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10. Windows Media Player works ok. Skype Echo 123 doesn't work.
I'm getting this error: ... when I try to open any picture (jpeg, gif).
I have followed different forum topics for solutions and so far I:
- Double checked that RPC service is running & on automatic. RPC Locator is not started & on manual - Previously had some issues with opencl.dll being corrupted, but following Kyhi's suggestions here: Error DISM restorehealth - Windows 10 Forums .. I managed to fix it (as you can see from the screenshot, the sfc shows no errors anymore)
In the event viewer I get these:
Activation of app Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.
I installed windows 10 about a week back and although its been having a lot of freezes, its otherwise run pretty smoothly, except for today. I haven't had this issue before today but now whenever I go to open a photo using the normal windows photo app i get an error saying "the remote procedure call failed" and it won't open.
Any image that I try to open on my computer will not open and I get the error "The data area passed to a system call is too small" what that means. I had a chat session with Microsoft to no avail.
I was using skype as usual, put my computer to sleep, and woke it a few hours later. (Laptop) Anyways, I tabbed over to skype, and started fiddling with video options (I was trying out a spare webcam since my laptop's is horrible). I compared the two feeds for a while, and clicked the drop-down option for my laptop camera to compare again.
This is when my skype stopped responding, and I closed it with Task Manager. When I opened it again, I received an error telling me I was already logged on. When checking Task Manager for any skype processes to close so I could entirely restart the program, I found this: [URL] .... I have it highlighted. I can't end the task.
I'm using windows 10 on my surface 3, Today I realised that almost all MS app like store, groove music, calculator are crashing when I try to open them. I have restarted, checked for updates but none of the apps open. They crash in less than a second.
The only changes I did today was to install Kaspersky Internet Security and now I've removed it but nothing has changed.
I have windows 10 and as soon as i open apps like netflix they just crash after about 1 second but also when i am looking for new apps on the app store when i click on a new app i want the app store crashes
I use Windows 10 and would like to once Explorer.exe allows me to choose the program that I want to open the .iso files.I would like added "Open with" "VLC media player" for the .iso file in addition to programs that are already in the list.
I have an issue that started on build 10130, one drive simply keeps crashing on the pc and wont stay open for anything longer than two seconds before I see it trying to restart in the icon box at the bottom right. This is having a knock on effect as it is causing problems with the office preview apps as well. How to fix one drive?
I have my TV connected to HDMI and a small, old monitor connected to VGA on a Radeon 4600 video card. I have Kodi (multimedia player) set to open full screen when the default user account logs in and it does so on the main monitor which is my TV. I have the smaller, older monitor set up so I can still use the computer when someone is watching a movie on the TV. I have multi-monitor set to extend the desktop.
But my problem is when I open a program it wants to default to opening on the main monitor and when I open a program from the second monitor, it opens behind Kodi on the main monitor (and I have to click and drag it over to the second monitor) - so I would like to switch the old VGA monitor to be the main monitor and the TV to be the second.
Is there a way I can force Kodi to open and stay on the second monitor once I make my TV the second monitor?
if it is possible to change a open with option back to unknown application on some files. i accidentally clicked open with the picture opener and its stuck on it now. how can i revert this?
I did an upgrade from 7, and then I went back and did a clean install of 10. Now two programs seem to open in negative space.
They arent opening off screen. i have tried setting display options from refresh to size and cascading windows to bring all open windows to the screen. Nothing.
However, when I Alt-Tab, the window is shown clearly. It shows an accurate preview of what is appearing on the screen, selecting it just does essentially nothing. This has led me to believe the windows are opening in limbo (negative space).
I've been running Windows 10 since last August, after upgrading from Win 8.1 on my Asus laptop.
I use the taskbar (launchbar?) to start my favourite programs, such as Excel, and some 8-10 files are stacked on the icon so I can right-click the icon and select/open my desired file.
That was until approximately 10 days ago, when clicking on a file name only opened Excel, and I have to do a file/open within Excel to get the file I want open. Other programs that are also on the bar e.g. my PDF program, still opens the file name I click on.
Whenever I try to do anything, like install a program, open some files, I get an UAC warning saying: :"To continue, type an administrator password", but there's no textbox where I can type the password and Yes button is disabled. I found a solution on the forum [URL]..., but I can't enter Safe mode whatever I try, I never get an option to enter safe mode and I can't use msconfig cause UAC blocked it. What can I do?
Okay, so i finished upgrading to W10 now, and when i plug in my corsair h2100. A wireless headset, Windows keep alerting or something with this wierd sound. It sounds like "damalam" and it is a non stop sound.
The sound is the Windows 10 disconnecting sound. But that's weird. nothing is being disconnected by it self.
[URL] ....
Solution : D-Link USB Hub is not currently W10 supported. That's why?
Trying to figure this out in Windows 10. I have a file on my system, and windows doesn't yet know what program to open it with. When I right click the file and select "open with", the dialogue is quite different. Now I no longer have the option of selecting a perfectly fine program from my computer and open the file, my only option is to search for a program in Windows Store which turns out to be a dead end. What option is there to associate a program with a file extension in Windows 10, as the on the fly method that always used to work perfectly.
