OneDrive Explorer View

New on here a just taken plunge with w10. Not bad at all on this Surface Pro 3.
In windows explorer there is an option what folders to show and synchronise. It used to be that the file 'impression' was there but the actual file on the cloud. It now seems that to have them visible they have to synchronise and this means they actually download to local HDD. All I want is to see the files and when I click on them they come down from cloud and attach to email etc. This particularly important for pictures. Because these and medic are huge I don't 'synchronise as they would all come down locally.
So, how do I see the available files in OneDrive via Explorer without actually having them on hard drive locally.

I want 'List', not 'Details'.
I could keep it at 'List' view in Windows 7, but I don't see a setting for that option any more?
Also, I downloaded a program called Explorer Plus Plus, which I love. Is there any way in Windows 10 to make IT my default Folder opener?

In W7 I could refresh the file list after deleting files using the view menu and the refresh option. W10 does not remove deleted files from view at once nor does it have a way of doing it manually that I can find. I can't believe it no longer exists.

One productivity feature I really miss from OS X is the column view in Finder. It can be a real headache to parse through root and subfolders in File Explorer without being able to see your path clearly. There are third-party programs such as UltraExplorer that allow this functionality. Is there any word of Microsoft providing a native solution in future builds?

I just upgraded from W8.1 to W10 and it looks like the icons got smaller by default in the "details" view in the File Explorer.
My problem is that now the overlay icons which are used by TortoiseSVN do not seem to show anymore in the "details" view (when they did use to show in all previous versions of Windows). By overlay icons, I mean things like a green arrow or a red exclamation mark which show up on the icon to indicate that the file is up to date in SVN or has been modified (see screenshots below).not good alternative: the overlay icons do appear in the "Medium icons" or bigger view; (but not for "Small icons"), as well as in the "Content" view.
But none of these is satisfactory to me as I much prefer the "details" view for the things I do -- I like to be able to see both the SVN status at the same time as the details of files, in a reasonable presentation (I don't like the "Content" view, it wastes too much space when you have a lot of files to go through).
I suspect that if there is a way to change the size of the icons in the "details" view, the overlay icons would show up again. The reason I believe this is that the overlay icons do appear in the "details" view when I use the 125% setting in the SYSTEM | Display "Customize your display" setting (which was used by default on my high resolution (1920 x 1080) but small (11.6") laptop screen). See screenshots below:
normal (100%) setting for "details" view in File explorer:vs. 125% setting -- notice that now we can see the green arrow overlay icon for the folder temp_SKH_code:
Question: Is it possible to change the size of the icons appearing in the "details" view of the File Explorer (through a registry hack, or anything)? I am also open to any other alternative which would enable me to see the overlay icons of TortoiseSVN in the "details" view at 100% display setting.
As I use the 125% display setting on my laptop, I do not have any problem there. My problem is with the big external monitor (27" 2048 x 1152) that I use for which a 125% display setting would make everything way too big...For more information about the TortoiseSVN overlay icons and potential issues with Windows, see here. I originally thought that this was my problem (see also this post), until I realized that the overlay icons show fine in some of the views of File Explorer, as well as when using the 125% display setting.

I understand the reason why onedrive is a standalone app on phones and pcs, because they can constantly update and improve the app.But the current onedrive app has enough features for regular use.And if they want they can always improve it with small minor updates even if it is integrate into the system's file explorer..So why don't they just integrate it into phone's and pc's file explorer itself instead of making it as a standalone app?.It will be more convenient to access all our files in one place instead of using two different apps.Giving great importance to ondrive by baking it into system's file explorer makes even more sense to MS's""Mobile-first cloud-first" strategy.I am not sure why they don't do that.are there any special reasons that you can think of why MS doesn't want to do that?

Preface: I had Windows 8.1 and I never used SkyDrive or, later, OneDrive, but since it's so inbred with Windows 10, I wanted to at least check it out. Especially after all of Microsoft's hype and the $16 Billion they poured into cloud research. I also have a Windows Phone, so I was curious how well it would actually sync things.
So, I install Windows 10. I'm poking around. I see OneDrive listed as a program on the start menu, I click it and nothing happens. I open up file explorer. OneDrive is listed on the left navigation pane above "My PC." I click on it and it disappears. Poof! There are still OneDrive folders scattered throughout my C:Windows, so I know there are remnants of it hanging around somewhere. I surmised that the program on my start menu was the leftover OneDrive app from Windows 8.1. So, I uninstalled that. Of course, there's no reinstallation file for Windows 10, because, "it's just supposed to be there."

How to remove One Drive from File explorer after a reboot.
OneDrive Integration in Windows 8.1 - Enable or Disable
1.Win+R->gpedit.msc
2.Navigate to: Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsOneDrive
double click on: Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage.
3.Click on: Enable, Apply
Note - stop the one drive service if it appears in the system area (right hand end of taskbar or in the hidden area).
If after re-boot the one drive is still visible in File explorer - just click it and it will VANISH - GONE...

I have a large number of research articles on my laptop (via dropbox). One thing I loved about Windows 7 was that I could just hit the Start button, type a keyword into the search box and a results window would pop up that listed every matching document on my computer. I was also able to customize this so that it always came up in "Details" view.
I can't seem to get that same thing with Windows 10. When I type something into the search field on the task bar, I have to first select that I want it to search my stuff and not the web. After I do that it will only bring up a limited amount of results. I have to click again to see the whole set of hits--and then if I hit "Folder Explorer" at the bottom of the menu, it brings up the results in "Tile" view.
First, I can't figure out how to set the Folder Explorer default view to "Details".
Also, is there a way I search directly into Folder Explorer via the task bar search box?
Next, I don't mind that the taskbar offers me the option of websearch

I have upgraded from windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro. After the upgrade the one drive logo that use to be displayed using file explorer is no longer visually available. It is not shown in the apps list or the task bar.
I have upgraded a total of 3 identical systems. My main computer does not show one drive the other two do show one drive in file explorer.

All my desktop icons are stuck on the left side of the desktopAll file explorer view are stuck in details view. Now yes, I have turned off Auto-arrange, still refreshes to all icons on left. I have tired ALL sorts combinations of view + sort by... nothing. I have tired many anti-malware/virus scans and nothing has come up. I have tired CCleaner pretty much everything and the problem persists.
Of note, I had done a system restore a week and half ago to a specific point and that fixed the problem but for just a day, then it happened again. When I got around to having time to go for another system restore, that restore point was gone and now no other restore point is fixing the issue -_-That left me to think it might be something I installed or perhaps a windows update... but after having uninstalled pretty much everything I could that I installed in the last week as well as removing recent updates.... nothing. I have also tried making a new windows account (local)... nothing. Also tried in safe mode, still nothing.

I can't believe how basic the photo app still is. You still don't even have a folder view. It is damn slow and constantly crashes and doesn't show all pictures. we are one week away from launch of Win 10 and Microsoft still delivers this crappy piece of software. It's unbelievable! What have they done in all the last months?! There was hardly any progress at all! Don't they have enough man-power for this? Even a one-man app-developer should get a better photo app within 2 months!

Is there a way to customize Windows 10 folder view? I do a lot of photo editing and I want to find a way to preview the folder's photo collection in a bigger size than the ''extra large icons'' that I find too small. Is there a way to do it with Windows 10, or is there a 3rd party software I can use ?

Today I received a dubious email, from a person unknown, to which a .zip file was attached, purporting to be a copy of an invoice. I saved the attachment, and then scanned it with Bitdefender and MBAM, both of which reported negative results. I then carefully opened (not extracted) the .zip file using SecureZip. There was a single file in the .zip container, which had a .js file extension (Java Script).
I don't have Java installed on my computer, but I took no chances, and used "Eraser" to shred the .zip file that I had saved in my "Downloads" folder and then deleted the email from my In-Box and Trash.
In my Windows 7 days, using Live Mail, I could right-click an email and display its properties to determine from whence it had originated, and other useful information, which was very useful in determining the authenticity, and originator, of the email.

I have a dual monitor setup:
- Main screen, where I work using different applications in different virtual desktops.
- Secondary screen, where another application constantly running in the foreground (e.g.: showing a movie, youtube videos etc.), which I need to be always shown.
When I create multiple desktops in my main screen, Windows also creates the same desktops in the secondary screen.
When working, I alt-tab to move between main screen's applications, which potentially changes desktops.
The problem is that the same desktops are changed in my secondary screen; therefore, my application stops showing when changing desktops.
I was wondering if I can resolve this somehow. For example:
1) Disabling virtual desktops for my secondary monitor specifically
2) Copy application to all desktops (therefore, it shows regardless of which desktop I am switching)

I am currently having an issue with icons not displaying on Windows 10, I also cannot change the folder layout as it is grayed out as you will see in the snip it below.
For some reason Adobe PDF icons still display but all the others are just folder icons or the generic gray page icon.
