Apps :: Can't Get OneDrive To Sync Properly And Can Only See It As Folder

Feb 23, 2016

I upgraded my samsung laptop to w10 & recently bought a linx w10 tablet. I also have an Android 5.1 smartphone. I set up onedrive on all 3.

The tablet & smartphone function properly. They see the docs i loaded from the laptop, tablet & phone. The pc only sees the files that I uploaded from the pc.

I tried following tutorials about "fetch files", but I don't have the onedrive icon in my pc task bar. I can't find it as an app on my computer, only as a folder in file explorer. therefore I can't get into any of the settings.

I forgot to mention : onenote functions without issues on all 3 machines & works on the same microsoft account.

Onedrive Sync Selection

Jan 16, 2016

So, I am just now getting around to trying to solve this problem due to the fact that I am needing to use the computer that has this problem at the moment. When ever anything that would put crap in My Documents (I.E. Rockstar) it instead goes to onedrive. The System will not let me change the setting on where documents get saved automatically. when I try to change it the selection box just goes blank. if I try to select "This PC" again it will then show up, however if I go away and come back the setting is back to saying "OneDrive".

OneDrive Sync After Upgrading

Jul 29, 2015

Onedrive on my Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 allowed me to view all my Onedrive files whether they were "available online only" or "available offline only". After upgrading to Windows 10, just a handful of folders appear and the folders display as empty.

I right-clicked on the folders but there's no option to see "Available Online" or "Available Offline" anymore. All my files appear on Onedrive via the browser so they didn't go anywhere.

I unlinked my Onedrive through the desktop and removed my PC from the Onedrive website. I signed set them up fresh again. Onedrive Setup Wizard only gives me the option to choose what files to sync or only a few. I would like to sync everything, but that's over 1 terabyte of data that doesn't fit on my 128GB Surface.

Only the Documents and Music folders show me the folders stored within that folder, and now Onedrive says those can't be synced either. I've installed all necessary firmware updates and fixes after upgrading to Windows 10. I love the UI but no working Onedrive means I'll most likely downgrade until a fix is available.

How To Easily Sync Onedrive Files

Aug 24, 2015

I just upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday and now I have a serious problem with Onedrive. All of my save files for programs like Quickbooks are stored on Onedrive. Further, photos and other files that I use for my real estate business are stored on Onedrive. Many files can go as far as 15 folders deep.

Now that smart files are gone, I have no access to all of my folders in Onedrive, which means that I can no longer easily drag and drop files that I need saved on onedrive. Nor can I access my files if I need to send a file as an attachment in an email, or open up a company in Quickbooks.

Basically, the onedrive client is completely useless. Is there an alternative? What do I do? My files are way larger than my local HD space

OneDrive App - Can't See Any Of Content Unless Sync It Down To Device

Aug 18, 2015

So the new OneDrive experience in windows 10 sucks, I can't see any of my content unless I sync it down to the device. It also appears that there is no longer a OneDrive App that you Can download for the store. Is this correct or am I just missing it? So my only option to access my 30GB of OneDrive data is the browser???

Cannot Sync OneDrive Music Folder - It Contains Too Much Data

Aug 10, 2015

I don't sync my OneDrive music folder because it contains too much data. However, everytime I open Groove music, it creates a folder called Music in my local onedrive space. This folder then tries to sync and gives a conflict.

OneDrive Sync / Access - Folder Empty On Laptop

Aug 3, 2015

I might be clueless about onedrive syncing and access, but why is my onedrive folder on my laptop empty?

Is there way I could link/sync it with my Microsoft account so when I open onedrive on my laptop (file explorer) so it displays what I have on the "online onedrive"?

I hardly see the point of the onedrive on the PC if it cannot show what's already stored on onedrive (I have a bunch of stuff from my windows phone saved on onedrive)...

Windows Desktop Won't Properly Size

Nov 12, 2015

I can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.

I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.

Apps :: OneDrive Desktop App Crashing?

Sep 13, 2015

Since I upgraded to windows 10 my OneDrive account has not been syncing properly and regularly comes up with errors when I start up before abruptly crashing. A lot of the advice I have found online recommends e.g. right clicking on the OneDrive app in the bottom right however the OneDrive app does not actually appear for me (I have selected OneDrive to always show in the notification area in the settings but this does not work).

How I can fix/reset OneDrive so that it actually works properly on windows 10?

Also, I understand microsoft have removed the feature to allow you to access OneDrive online only files direct from explorer instead forcing you to download everything you need to access locally onto the computer. As this was quite literally the only feature that put OneDrive ahead of e.g. Dropbox/Google Drive.

Can't Delete OneDrive Icon From The Desktop

Dec 29, 2015

I will never use OneDrive.  I did the following which was supposed to uninstall it (I'm running Window 10 and Classic Windows.):

In the Run prompt:

taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe

then

%SystemRoot%SysWOW64OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall

I don't know if this worked.  However, I still have the OneDrive on my desktop.

How can I remove OneDrive icon (and the Libraries icon) from my desktop?  Dragging it to the Recycle Bin does NOT delete it.

I also would like to stop the automatic re-ordering of my desktop icons every time I start the computer, but perhaps this should be a separate topic.

Unauthorized Workgroup Network Auto-Signed Into Computer

Feb 20, 2016

my computer is automatically connected to an unauthorized/unknown WORKGROUP network - which I believe is a malicious connection. On top of the connection being a persistent login, the settings seem to be locked in as well, preventing edits/changes. If so, is it possible to regain control, and prevent future threats? At first, I figured that maybe all Win-10 home pre-installed OS's just connected to WG's by default; however, I tested my theory in two different computer stores, but this wasn't the case for any of their systems with home edition installed. At some point I reached out to Microsoft tech support (which I can't afford right now) - they were uncertain, but suggested, for hundreds, that I allow them to tweak some registry keys and/or system32 settings.

VPN Client Blocked From Internet

Jan 30, 2016

Have set up a VPN server connection on my Windows 10 Pro desktop. Clients can connect to the VPN server but can't access the internet through the VPN connection.

I have the identical set up on a Windows 7 VPN server and client can connect through to the internet using that machine.

Everything seems identical in the set up, however the RAS Interface on the Win 10 shows "no internet access," where the Win 7 server does. This seems to be the issue, but can't figure out how to change the settings on the Windows 10 server to make this work...

Disabling Client For Microsoft Networks

Feb 19, 2016

I was recently reading this article on ShieldsUp [URL] .... about disabling the client for Microsoft networks. Are there any real security benefits for doing this and if so what would happen if I did? e.g. would I still be able to receive updates from Windows? I've already unchecked file and printer sharing and not bothered about any file sharing.

I'm using Win 10 btw ..

Could Not Connect To The Group Policy Client Service

Dec 10, 2015

Also searched this forum and have replied to similar posts - But here is a thread of my own.

I Setup a new PC for a friend on Saturday 28/11/15
Brand new desktop with Windows 10
Setup using a local Admin Account

2 days later - message appears on starting up (after the login prompt)

"Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system."The the PC is slow to respond , would not open WLM or Chrome And takes 10mins to shutdown

Choose to hold the Shift Key and restart - Then Continue
Which fixes the issue - for a few reboots !!!!

Windows 10 has also updated to 1511 Threshold 2
Still occurs

I have tried - and with MS Chat assistance - and all have failed

1) New profile
2) SFC /Scannow
3) Clean Boot

I then read about and was also advised by MS of a registry change for grpsvc.I notice the issue is that Group Policy Client - does not have a status of "running".I checked a couple of windows 10 PCs and they all have the Status "running" although none had the registry entries recommended and all have worked fine for months. However, MS - updated and changed the registry and now we have the status of "running" next day it gave the message and problems returned This time I notice that the GPC status is blank again.Despite the registry changes - still having the issue - every day for 10days now with a reboot using the shift key fixes the issue and GPC is running again

I'm at a loss what to do next MS have said its not a windows problem and refused to further assist - and advised to go back to the OEM HP have said its a windows issue windows couldn't connect to group policy - Windows 10 Forums Which I may try and see if there is a space - but I have checked the registry now and it is now setup as the various GPC articles of course , if i do a clean factory reset - that will be removed
