View 3 RepliesAfter successfully installing Win 10 it ran without any issues for about 1 day then Edge refused to launch, the splash screen opens for about 10 seconds and then disappears. The only change made to Edge was to import bookmarks from IE. Unsure where to start looking for an answer.
View 13 RepliesI am using Mail app built in Windows 10. Office 2013 is installed with all applications. If I try to use the SendTo link from Explorer, it opens up Outlook instead of the default Mail app. In default programs, Mail has all his options checked.
How to make the SendTo work properly with Mail app?
I use Outlook to receive contracts and sign them in Adobe. My mail now opens in microsoft edge and it will not give me the option to sign and send back. I have tried to change my browser it will not correct Outlook mail.

View 1 RepliesI've had windows 10 since November and just today it's been playing up. None of the apps open - they display a message "element not found" for explorer exe or for other things like chrome, ms word you click on it and nothing happens. Can't even turn off the computer (start > turn off just does nothing) I've tried pressing the power button on my PC but that just seems to put it into sleep mode and not properly restart it.
View 9 RepliesWhen I boot up, reboot, Windows Notepad opens automatically with an error box "! Access Denied" - when I ok that it leaves a Notepad blank screen open. I close that and boot up is complete and I can work normally.
Cannot see anything in startup.

How do I get powerpoint working on my PC after Windows 10 installed? It opens and then disappears.
View 1 RepliesWhen I try to open a folder in Windows Explorer, it opens the "Documents" Folder by default. I have to choose "Open" or "Open in New Window" to get it right. If I select "Open Windows Explorer" or double click on the folder, my Documents folder opens. I have reset every setting I can think of to default settings. I installed IoBit Advanced System Care9 Pro and was fiddling with a bunch of settings before this occurred.
View 6 Replieswhen I try to open a specific app (Plex), it opens that one plus another one (iTunes). I've tried reorganizing the tiles, removing them then pinning them back again but it still happens. I made sure I have the latest updates installed.
View 2 RepliesI have set the default media player for both music and video to VLC and when I double click a single file it opens in VLC. However if I select a number of music files and hit enter or click play at the top of windows explorer it opens windows media player. Even if I right click the files it only gives me options to open in Windows Media Player as shown in attached.
View 5 RepliesI recently installed the November update on my computer and now the File Explorer runs at every start up. How can I go disable this and go back to normal?
View 1 RepliesThis is referring to the blue "Search Everywhere" panel that slides out from the right, not Cortana or the Start Menu search box.
When I type into it, it'll list my local files on the top, then web results underneath. Clicking any listed local file will open that file, but clicking on any web results doesn't do anything.
Example: If I type in "ASUS", it'll show any file on my PC with ASUS in the name. Under those results, it then lists results from the web like the ASUS website and other ASUS related results like Google or Bing does. Any local document in the list will open from the search results, but no web links will open (nothing happens when clicked on).
Not sure why this is happening.
Sometime over the last month or so, every time fire-up my laptop, the start menu is open. I can click anywhere outside it and it will close, and does behave normally. It's more annoying than trouble. I don't consider myself a noob, but this is perplexing as I cannot find a setting to start up the OS without the start menu being open. Maybe a reg hack?
My assumption is MS did this in some recent update trying to introduce me to their new way of thinking. I only think this as after I upgraded to 10, I deleted all the tiles in the start menu that I didn't want. One day about a month ago, more came back. I figured it was MS trying to sell me on tiles, yet again.
I don't know if this is just me and my keyboard or if something happened with an update. Normally to open most apps I will just press the windows key on my keyboard and type its name. I updated today, both normal windows updates and the threshold 2 update (build 10586.3), but I think the issue started happening after the normal updates. Anyways, I used to be able to type my program name and press Enter and it would open.
This is no longer the case for certain items. For example, if I type Regedit, it correctly find the Regedit app but if I press Enter nothing happens, but I can click the found entry with my mouse and it opens just fine. I also cannot open a UNC path (ex COMPUTERC$ or C:Users) using the Enter button, but again the mouse works. It seems that if after finding the program it says "Run command" underneath it it doesn't open with Enter, and again neither do paths. I can type Notepad and press Enter and it opens just fine without any issues.
I still have the icon for MS Store in my taskbar, but it no longer works. Clicking on it does nothing. When I click the START button, the MS Store App is grayed out.
View 4 RepliesWhenever I start to type in the search field, I never get to finish typing because explorer opens a new window right away after the first character.
EDIT: Also, double clicking folders opens a new window as well.
My primary problem is that the Action Center opens at every second click. I think the problem migth be with some touchpad settings, but I haven't been able to identify them.
The touchpad started acting all weird all of a sudden. I have tried to restart the pc of course. That didn't work. I also ran a virus check, but at least nothing was identified. I have also tried to update the touchpad driver with no improvement.
Besides the Action Center appearing all the time, the touchpad stopped responding to taps (the way I usually click).
I was able to borrow an external mouse. I had no problems with the mouse, but the problems remained with the touchpad. After disabling the touchpad and using the mouse for a while, the problems disappeared. However, there was still some weird behavior with the touchpad (some settings had changed, for example ClickLock had been turned on). The touchpad does not work the way the settings indicate in Settings > Devices > Mouse and touchpad > Additional mouse options > (Dell Touchpad >) Click to change DellTouchpad Settings.
Now the problems from before borrowing the mouse have reappeared, and I can't get access to a mouse at the moment.
While I'm transferring a file for example, the file transfer window always opens outside the screen, Screenshot: [URL]
Tried moving it down, and re-opens outside the screen all the time
When I start any program its window appears in background - behind others. Even it is the first program I start its windows is not active and I need to click it to make active.
That issue appeared when I was with Windows 8.1 and after upgrade to Windows 10 remains. What I have tried - changing the register value of ForegroundLockTimeout to 0 but it didn't work.
When I am typing text into just about any program, frequently and annoyingly, when I type a t, a new window opens, and never the same one. I have to click on my previous window and put the curser back where I was. It happened in Win 7 and still in Win 10. How do I stop this?
View 2 RepliesI can't seem to catch a break since buying a new computer with Windows 10 and UltraHD. I've noticed that every time I open an Excel file, it not only opens that file, but it also opens a blank workbook as well. This has never happened to me on any previous computer or previous version of Excel and googling the issue has been futile thus far.
To be clear, I'm totally fine with Excel opening a blank workbook if I just click on the Excel shortcut on my taskbar, but I do NOT want Excel to open up a blank workbook when let's say I'm opening up a separate spreadsheet for a financial model.
Edge on my Dell Vostro has begun malfunctioning. When I open, it double opens and then freezes as soon as I go into a site. Have to go to task manager to close. Not happening on my Windows tablet.
Restarting and clearing all data did not work.
I have gone back to Chrome but miss the news page on Edge.
