View 2 RepliesI need Windows 10 to boot directly to a program. Whatever I try .vbs, .bat or just shortcut in Startup folder, it always starts minimized to task bar. When I click on the task bar it gets blown up full screen.
Once I turn off the Tablet mode it starts good, maximized.
How can I solve this so it boot in Tablet mode AND start the program in proper size?
NOTE: I use touch screen but I dont think it maters.
I'm having this issue since I upgraded to Win 10: when I click restart, my laptop becomes stuck on the restart screen for ages, even the hard drive doesn't show any signs of activity. Its only after like 15 mins or so the hard drive comes into life and the computer turns off. What could be causing this?Normal shut down and hibernate aren't affected.
View 3 RepliesWhen I started my laptop it only had half a page, and I am trying to get it start at a previous time to see if this would rectify the problem.
View 4 RepliesIt is easy to increase the time an Outlook 2013 Desktop Alert stays on for a long time (hours or maybe all day) by using the registry hack below in Windows 7. This won't work under Windows 10. The longest time I can get by any method, Control Panel or hack is 5 minutes. How to make it at least a couple of hours or preferably all day?
Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice<version>CommonDesktopAlerts
Value name: TimeOn
Value type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 - 4294964295
I have upgraded Win 8.1 Ent into Win 10 Enterprise. While upgrading I had an older version of BIOS. Since then I have upgraded to the latest BIOS version available for my MOBO. My MOBO is ASUS's P8H77.
I can not boot or restart into BIOS from Win 10. I have googled the problem and it was mentioned something about new UEFI method of OS installation. When I am trying to restart/boot using the Advanced Boot option my OS is missing the "UEFI Firmware Settings" option, therefore I can't get into my BIOS.
My questions are:
- All this is happening because I had an old version of BIOS and when I upgraded something got screwed up?
- Does my motherboard support Win 10 UEFI option at all?
- Do I need to do clean install? Is it possible to avoid such option?
Reason for all these trouble: My PC freezes when I leave it working overnight. I do not know how to troubleshoot it because no reason for the freeze is indicated in the Even Viewer. Why the heck my PC freezes? I do not get any BSOD or errors, just a freeze and the only way to reset the PC is to hold down the power button.
I had an initial fault with Windows 10 where the start button disappeared so to switch it off I used Alt/F4. That brought up a small screen that allowed me to shut down . The next time I tried it I looked at a couple of options and chose sleep mode...Big mistake. I cannot wake up the screen at all, the computor itself will switch on and off mit the power switch but nothing appears on the screen, it is blank. I have tried hitting various buttons on the keyboard to no avail.
View 2 RepliesWhen I put my computer in sleep mode, it won't 'wake up'. I have to manually turn off the computer and then start it up again. This has happened twice. I'm not putting it into sleep mode until I find out what's wrong and that's exasperating as I normally leave my computer on all day so I can periodically play my games.
View 4 RepliesSince the update reboot Outlook is running in safe mode and though the reading panel is correctly set up it is closed every time Outlook is restarted. Add ones are all missing. How to sort it short of removing all the updates. I have run a repair install and SFC /SCANNOW with no problems or change.
View 7 RepliesHow can I fix the sleep function for an HP laptop using Windows 10? After it goes into sleep mode, it won't wake-up. Have to cold boot to restart.
View 2 RepliesI installed Windows 10 on a MS Vista OS, Viao laptop about a month ago. Everything has been fine. I've been learning how to use Windows 10, and have been more or less happy with it.
On October 16, 1015, I booted the laptop just like I do every morning around 8:30 am. I got past the loading screen, got the Loading screen photo image, and then the login screen. I logged in, and got an alert that Windows 10 updates were available. Since I had 30 some minutes before I needed to actually USE the machine I told it to update. I clicked the update button, and Windows 10 partially logged me out to do the update. When windows restarted, I got past the loading screen, and got to the Login screen.
But after putting in my Windows credentials, I got a blue screen with a white circle progress indicator, and it sat like that for about 20 minutes.
I restarted by pressing the power button, but am now unable to even to the loading screen. As soon as I hear the "booting windows" sound, the blue screen with the white circle progress indicator comes up. I've tried this about 5 times, letting it sit for about 30 minutes each time.
I am trying to find a way to get into safe mode without the use of the "restart" function, but either that data doesn't exist or I am not using the correct search terms to find it.
Windows 10. while typing a email in outlook I try to open a word document. the machine immediate went into error mode saying there was a power problem and restarting my PC. tried with working word and opening another folder - same result.
View 1 RepliesI have the problem, that Windows 10 is really annoying when it comes to balloon tips when you are in tablet mode. Every few touches, Windows shows non relevant tooltips when you touche the screen, mostly from the start menu. I already have tried to do this:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced]"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000
But that doesn't work. Is there another way to deactivate tooltips (all tooltips, startmenu tooltips)?
For example everytime I swype to the right to show setting tile and then back into the screen, start menu shows an annoying "show hidden symbols" tooltip.
I have an issue which has been going on since beta win 10. If i have a minimized window open on the desk top I can not view it unless i minimize all other windows. It seems once my cursor crosses the top of the taskbar the window I am trying to get to closes, only way to get to it is to minimize all other windows and then I got get to it and then click on it? Same thing if I want to change the volume if I click on the taskbar the volume window will close once the cursor crosses the top of the taskbar? If i right click on the volume icon then I get the volume mixer and I am able to get to it to adjust? I keep thinking this is a bug that will get fixed, but never does.
View 9 RepliesSince updating to Windows 10 I have lost many of the normal graphics found on pages and on my browsers. The color is blue and some boxes that require a check are not visible unless you happen to run your mouse over them. Internet Explorer and Firefox have also lost most of the graphics; now all the artwork on the pages look like just bare bone versions of the pages when I saw them on Windows 7! This is affecting both my PC and my laptop!
View 1 RepliesI just got a new Dell computer with Win10. when I minimize a page an icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the taskbar (?) and a thumbnail picture appears at the right side of the screen. I don't want the thumbnails and I haven't found a way to stop them with out stopping all thumbnails. I just don't want minimized pages to show up on my desktop.
View 3 Repliesi selected the optoin Auto hide but when ever i am on a maximized program like chrome for example my taskbar does not pop up i have to minimize the program to get it to pop up and that gets anoying is there a way to make it pop up when ever i move my mouse down to it.

View 2 RepliesI have a HP Notebook 15-ac134ns Windows 10 Home 64bits from 3 months ago. When I run some programs (at the moment I have detected Firefox, Chrome, Teamviewer, Windows Live MSN, and some others) installed by me, they work normally, but when I minimize them they don't go to taskbar, I see like the windows goes up and dissappears. But program keeps running, so I can locate in running processes.
Then I have to find Explorer process, kill it, and firefow shows up in task bar for a few seconds, so I can click on it and it is accessible again in the very same point it was before.
I have tried to locate the "missing" programs with Alt+Tab or in different desktops, but not available.
I have also tried to pin and unpin the programs to taskbar, but same.
i noticed that after updating to build 10547 i cant play music and minise the app anymore. this but happened a while ago back on windows 8 and it just went away i think but its very annoying, i have to use vlc to listen to music now and i like groove music
View 3 RepliesWhenever I use my surface after charging all night I get white screens from apps that are minimized and edge doesn't respond. Ive actually got to close out all those windows and start over. SP3 ... Windows 10 ...
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 everything seems to run fine but system will not restart from the restart selection on the start menu. Windows update will not reboot automatically either. System looks like it is going to reboot, everything shuts down but as system trys to restart everything freezes. Only way around it is to do a hard shutdown by holding the power button. Updated graphics card, hard drive and bios but still no luck.
View 1 RepliesI am upgrading a computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I completed the download, and got a message that the computer needed to restart to continue the installation. However, when I restart and the computer comes back up, the same message appears and the installation does not progress. When I go to check Windows updates in the control panel, it says it can't check for updates because another installation is in progress. I have restarted the machine multiple times with no progress - can't go forward, can't go back.
View 1 RepliesYesterday I installed Windows 10 Professional on my Acer Aspire V5-573G laptop. I installed the English (US) version even though I live in the Netherlands. When I corrected the time I have set it to the correct timezone (see screenshot) but it has the wrong time connected to it. As seen on the screenshot the time displayed is 21:49 even though when I took it, it was actually 13:49. Off course I could manually change the time, but I was wondering if maybe this is part of some bigger problem and if there is a better way to fix it.
View 5 RepliesOn my desktop, when I run a music app in Windows 10, say Plug radio or Tunein, it stops playing music after a second or two of being minimized. If I maximize, it starts playing again. If I change the volume with the keyboard, and the little pop up window with volume, artist, song info, etc. pops up, it starts playing again, but as soon as it fades away, it stops again.
I checked under Task Manager, and the .exe file for the app suspends when you minimize it, and starts running again when you maximize it.
I have a laptop that I also upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1, and it doesn't do this. I can minimize the same apps and they continue to play. When the desktop was Windows 8.1, I didn't have this problem.
Just downloaded windows 10 and it freezes or reboots every time I try and login in for the first time, if u click on anything else on this screen like this isn't me it freezes as well, any work around this to maybe login or revert back to windows 7 without being able to log on?
