PC Freezes Mouse Won't Move And Keys Not Registering
Sep 3, 2015
I'm suffering from PC freezes. It freezes when I'm in windows but not in post. When it freezes my mouse wont move and keys won't register.. so it's just really stuck. I've tried waiting for about an hour but it didn't woke up. It happens really random. While loading a game, watching pictures or idle.. the time interval is very random aswell, couple times a day or once every couple of days. All possible with this freeze.. My current solution is holding down the power button so it shuts down, and then rebooting it. I'm not OC-ed and the pc is about 4~5 years old.
Now I'm wondering if there is a list of things that one would do? I don't really mind doing a lot of extra checking, since I normally don't check my system. A full check would be nice actually. I have tried running mdsched.exe and it showed 0 problems. I'm currently checking my hdd from within windows. (Rmb the partition and select run check) I did not upgrade anything on my pc other then my gpu a couple of years back. But it used to run fine even after the upgrade. The os i'm running, comming from vista pro to 8.0 pro to 8.1 pro to 10 pro could be cause aswell I guess, even tough I did preform a nearly clean install for the win 10.
The reason I want a list of testing programs, tips and tricks is that I can't find a solid list. There must be a certain guideline for finding 90% of the common computer problems? Check hardware first then software?

I recently upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.0. I have tried reinstalling Synaptics, removing and uninstalling Synaptics, disabling palmcheck, but it wouldn't work. It's annoying when you are playing a game that requires moving while pressing keys on your keyboard. I also have Synaptics 7.5 (19.0.10). The only way I can move my mouse while pressing any key is pressing (any key) + shift.

I have an annoying problem. When I move from my secondary LCD to the primary, sometimes the mouse won't cross the threshold unless I move it fast. I read about mouse monitor escape speed from this thread, but after adding the reg key to the control panel/desktop and the edgeui, I still have no luck.
I noticed the thread was old. Is this something where those fixes no longer work in the latest and greatest version of Win10? If so, is there a way to stop it from sticking?

Recently there was an update from windows on windows 8. A problem came about when i realized that every time I spectate in a game or watch some TV series, the graphics starts to lag and becomes jerky. I thought it may be a problem with OS so i upgraded it to windows 10, but the problem still exists.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I have a 2 monitor setup. I like to drag/drop windows from one monitor to the other, but Windows 10 has a barrier it seems right in the top corners. If I'm on the left monitor, and I go to drag a window to the right monitor, it will hang in the top right corner of the left monitor and not move, until I move the cursor down slightly, then it'll let me move it. Is there a way to remove that stopgap so I can move windows freely from one monitor to the other without having to go around the top corner?

When turning on Windows 10 my pointer will not show up for the password phase of startup. If I do get to the desktop, the pointer is either gone or it is frozen. I shut the computer down and after several startups, it will come back on maybe for a few minutes. I have checked the device manager for the mouse. Looked for updated versions. Ran a troubleshooting for it. Nothing says it is wrong. This has only happened with the upgrade to Windows 10. It used to be every so often, now it is daily.

I have had this issue for only a couple of days now. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for the mouse, sound card, and headset, which still hasn't worked. I've seen other sites talking about an "Intel Technologies Access Services" which isn't showing up in my task manager or services (I'm assuming that's a good thing). I guess I'm just not exactly sure what else to try at this point.

So, just out of the blue, out of nowhere, this problem started to occur. This only happens in minecraft too, I try and press space bar to jump, X to sprint, and w to move forward, and when I try to do this, only 1-2 of my key presses will register, for example sometimes I will start moving forward and be jumping, but my key press on X will not register and I wont sprint. I varies randomly, I sometimes will be moving forward and sprinting, but despite holding the spacebar, I wont be jumping. What would also happen is I would hit a key, say space, and it would not register the first key press, but if I pressed it again almost immediately, it would work.
I am using a Razer Blackwidow Chroma, and I already tried uninstalled razer synapse and reinstalling it. Did not work. I tried on another keyboard, and ran into the same issue, so this ruled out it being the keyboard's fault. I've uninstalled Minecraft completely, and reinstalled it, no luck, I uninstalled and reinstalled java, no luck. The weird thing is that this only happens in Minecraft. For example if I go into a text document, I can spam all the buttons I want, including space, and they all register. I'm thinking about reinstalling windows. I don't <<edited>> understand why out of the blue, my key presses are not registering/being insanely unresponsive.
I was also experiencing input lag at times, I would hit a button, and there would be about a half a second delay before it registered in game. Again, this only happens in minecraft. I just played CS:Go for about 45 minutes and did not experience any problems.

Intermittently, when I press some keys on the keyboard, I would hear a triple-tone from Windows 10. Nothing would happen, but the three tones have progressively lower pitch, immediately followed by a four-tone signal, which have progressively higher pitch. This is the same signal that Windows makes when one unplugs an USB device and plugs it back in.
I cannot figure out which keys trigger this reaction. I know for a fact that arrow keys do it, but I think the enter key does it also, or even the space bar.
This only happens on my son's computer (desktop, home-built). There's no adverse effect on the performance of the computer, but it's a mystery why it happens and what the computer is actually doing.

I detest them. And on this particular cheapo keyboard, they're in a *particularly* annoying location for me. So what I want to do is to turn them OFF! Preferably permanently, altho in Win 10...this might be impossible. (A hint in DosBox suggested deleting certain junk keyboard devices...but Windows 10 put them back in when I rebooted. NO!! But Windows is the god of the computer, so YES.) Still, as long as I have SOME method to turn these buttons off, that would be a huge improvement.
This is a generic keyboard, using the default Windows 10 driver.

What I mean is that specifically, my T, Y, Shift, Tab keys take 15 to 20 minutes to register. Before then, I physically have to push down hard on the key to make it work. I tried with a different keyboard. Same problem. That narrows down my issue to a software or internal hardware issue. I am asking this now because my parents have to get work done on the computer and want to use the keyboard completely right after the computer starts up. Is there anything I can do to diagnose the problem?

I recently upgraded to win10 and reformatted everything, since then all I have installed is this [URL] ..... (And of course chrome) ...
Now around a week after the install, this friday, what i thought was my keyboard holding down +, but even after unplugging it, it still kept going. After a restart it was gone, but only to come back after a couple of hours. Then saturday and today it has been delete thats being held randomly. I have ran Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes anti-rootkit, avast and avast anti-rootkit which all found nothing, I have also tried removing all my mouse and keyboard drivers, but it just keeps going. My keyboard is a Razer Black widow ultimate (2012) And my mouse is a Zowie FK1.

I am having an issue with a registry key that has a bunch of null values placed in it. Pretty much this piece of malware software, added a bunch of null values to the registry key so it makes it impossible for me to view or delete this value. When double clicking on it I get an error saying "Environment cannot be opened".
Trying to right click on the key and changing permissions gives a similar error. There a bunch of tools out there like RegDelNull that's supposed to delete these type of keys but they seem to no longer work with Windows 10. Need deleting this pesky keys on Win 10?
