PC Random Reboot
Aug 31, 2015
Upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 on July 31st, for the first 20 days there were no problems, now my PC will randomly reboot. The event log only shows that the system unexpectedly shut down, no errors. I read that changing when the computer sleeps from never to a set time has solved the problem for some. I tried this and the random reboot didn't happen for a few days, then a update happened on the 28th of August and now the problem is back.

Sometimes it freeze up and I can only hard reboot it, mouse and keyboard doesn't works(audio sometimes works and sometimes it stops). I had this problem with windows 7 too. This problem is very random and I had it for a long time, it can happen every day in a week or just once in a few months.
I've run memtest86+ and didn't show any problems (I stopped it at 15 passes). Also checked my HDD and SSD but they were fine.

I have a new PC that I built and i'll include the parts at the end. I'm running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview. Eval copy. Build 10565. This machine randomly freezes on me(No BSOD) and I haven't been able to figure out the cause. It does not matter what i'm doing whether it be, browsing the web, downloading driver packages, checking email.. etc. I feel that i'm experienced enough to figure these things out with 3 years of troubleshooting experience, A+ certified and i'm a SQL dev.

Right now I only have 1 23" Dell Monitor hooked up to DVI because I wasn't sure if it was the other 2 causing the graphics card to freeze up.

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 home last week. However, today, while I was playing with my PS4, my PC randomly got 2 BSOD with in 3 minutes time frame. I was not using my PC. It was turned on, idling. After the first BSOD, the PC restarted and within 3 min another BSOD.I ran Memtest and Prime95, and played GTA 5 without any failures.

I have fresh installed Win 10 x64 on my HP ProBook 450, yet every now and then it freezes with only the mouse cursor movable and then restarts the laptop. I though it was the upgrade from Win 8.1 but the same thing happens after a fresh install. HP have confirmed that they have some issues with Windows 10 on their machines.

my Mouse, Keyboard and my audio interface get disabled a few times a day. at seemingly random intervals.
mouse and keyboard are mostly no problem because they reconnect instantly, with one exception today which forced me to restart as win10 refused to detect them again.
but most annoying is when it disconnects my audio interface because it never manages to reconnect without me manually pulling the usb plug out and in. some programs and game crashs when i do that, or just wouldnt play any sound without restarting the program in question.
i installed win10 a few weeks ago, its a clean install not an update. this problem hasnt occured ever before last week or something. so i suspect some auto-updates could have messed with it. i have not tinkered with usb drivers or anything like that,

I get the random dirty hibernation of my laptop if I don't activate an input (mouse or keyboard) in the span of 1minute. I had Windows 8.1 prior to upgrading to Windows 10 and all my power settings were fine and I never had the dirty hibernate then upgrading to Windows 10 for some reason I get it.
One way I sort of prevent the Hibernate is to:
Completely shut down/restart my PCWhen it bootsRun CMD in "Administration Mode"Type powercfg /h offHit EnterThen hope for the bestThis is only when its plugged into a power source, when I take the laptop off power and only use battery and I walk away for 1minute it does the dirty hibernation, its like a retarded dog that you feed it once it stays, the moment you walk away from it it craps on you.
And before you answer "Have you checked your System Power & Sleep settings, yes I have and the Advanced Settings which are component specific.
I'm afraid over time if this continues to happen my PC will crap itself.

I'm having a lot of issues with a system I recently assembled. Apps like Word, Outlook and Firefox are randomly crashing, BSODs from time to time, and the PC sometimes crashes directly after sleep-mode.
I've tried the following:
-clean install
-updating bios
-replacing mobo
-replacing psu
-ran memtest; no errors
-removed nvidia card, just onboard graphics; no difference

Okay so I've upgraded and use windows 10 for about 2 weeks now. All is fine until I've experienced this random shutdown where the computer turns off completely in a splitsecond then reboots itself. No BSODs, no warnings at all. Recently, it's been shutting itself down and reboots itself but won't even make it to the login screen before it shuts itself down again and this will continue in a loop. I had to turn off the plug and turn it back on. It will prompt a system restore which the computer will work fine for a while after the system restore. I assume this problem is because of windows 10 because I have not experienced this problem when I was using windows 8.1.
My Specs:
Intel Core i5-4590 3.3Ghz
Kingston HyperX 8GB 2x
ZOTAC Geforece GTX970
Samsung 840EVO SSD 256GB (Boot drive)
WD Caviar Blue 1TB

I noticed within the past week that, when my PC is locked and the lock screen is showing, it will randomly look like it's trying to log in without any action on my part. The lock screen will go up and then the loading circle will appear for a few seconds. Then, the screen goes black and it returns to the lock screen image. I have no problems logging in or out, but it's just kind of annoying and buggy. This is on both my laptop and my desktop.

So not to long ago I had to go into my second steam and other games hard drive. I randomly found all of these files like program x86 and install.exe. I assume that these files are in their to install a backup of windows but I was wondering why they just randomly came up there and if there is a way to remove them or make them less disorganized.

When I reboot and go to enter my login PIN the numlock is off and I have to turn it on. I can't seem to find a solution to make it stay on on reboot, except turning off fast boot. Windows 10?

I upgraded from a fully-functioning Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 this weekend. The upgrade process seemed simple enough, but I am suffering from intermittent freezes which can only be resolved with a full (hardware button) reset.
At a random time - after anything from 5 to 50 minutes - the screen will suddenly power off (the monitor itself will usually tell me it is going into sleep mode). Sometimes I'm in the middle of something; sometimes I've gone away and have returned to an unresponsive PC. Sometimes I will see the mouse cursor and desktop freeze for about a second before the screen goes black; sometimes I won't. If I'm playing music, it will stop. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't do anything - but the hard drive light still flashes, as if Windows is still running. (The error logs don't *seem* to show anything out of the ordinary, other than that I then have to do a socking great reset!)
I've tried various things already - I've made sure the graphics drivers are up-to-date (via an install from scratch); I've disconnected everything from the USB ports; I've booted with everything in Startup set to disabled... But the problem keeps recurring, and I really don't want to have to scrub everything I've got and do a 'nuclear' install. (In theory, I'm dual booting with Windows 7, but have not booted into that for years, probably.)
Safe mode seems stable, as does the screen before you actually log on, so I'm inclined to think it's a driver issue or something, but they're all up-to-date, too. I'm running a single monitor, BTW.
Where to look in those error logs...

For the past few weeks, File Explorer in Windows 10 launches at random during the day. No keyboard action is involved...it just launches.
Is there a way to defeat this behavior or is this just a bug within Windows 10.

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 64bit Pro version recently and everything was going fine (except for high disk usage which I fixed with disabling of superfetch). Now my problem is that first time I experienced my computer freezing was in online web browser games. The sound goes on a loop and I cannot move my mouse cursor nor use my keyboard. (caps lock cannot be turned on or off but keyboard is still on with lights)
Had to force shut down of the PC.Event Log didn't show anything , only showed the time at which my PC turned on from unexpected shut down. Now next thing I did was uninstall some Audio and Network drivers and also tried to use AMD's Beta driver but still experienced the random freeze.Should I give up on Windows 10 ?Maybe BIOS update ? "only install if you have windows 8" - from MSI's 2.xx BIOS driver descriptions

After shutting down, putting my computer to sleep, or shutting the lid, My computer becomes entirely unresponsive. The power button does nothing, the lights to indicate it is plugged in are dark, the computer seems to be dead. After a random period of time, ranging from 1 to 9 hours, It comes back to life as if nothing had happened. It seems to be similar to the Hibernation/Sleep problems but significantly magnified.

Since I updated to windows 10 from windows 7 I have been getting a weird shutdown that happens at the windows 10 loading screen. My computer will just shut off from there. But if I try again a second time it loads without issue and I am able to do intensive tasks. It also does not happen when i restart the computer only after shutting down. My temperatures on my gpu, cpu and gpu are normal. What could be causing this. Never had these issues with windows 7.
Things I tried
-updating windows 10
-update my bios to the latest version
-checked for viruses
Specs

8gb of ram

lately I have a really weird bug. Windows 10 randomly adds US English to my keyboard inputs. But when I go into the language input menu, US english is not there. The screenshot below will show you exactly what I mean, and this is really annoying, cause I am living in UK and I want to use the UK layout not the US.

On my desktop themes, I use pictures in a folder. In Windows 7 and 8, I was able to randomize these pictures, but I have not found such a feature in Windows 10. Did they take that feature out, or am I just missing it?

I have random freeze and BSOD with various errors.
dumps as requested by stickythread are attached.
The problem was caused by the motherboard (BIOS P1.90), it seems that does not support 8X4GB ram modules. I have removed 4 modules and the problem has disappeared. I do not think that the memory modules are defective because memtest found no error.

Since I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 (who knows when, within the week of first release) I've had a plethora of issues, and recently I found the source of the problem. My computer spikes to 100% disk usage randomly, even with nothing open and will suspend all applications on the computer. A couple of random things can set it off (sometimes when I open the "Search the web and Windows", open an application, Ctrl+Alt+Del, and ALWAYS when I boot my computer)
I've tried every. single. thing. that I have seen on the internet including but not limited to: superfetch, registry stuff, Unistack thing in task manager, Windows defender, uninstalling programs, defragmenting my 1TB Western Digital HDD even though it says 0% fragmented, cleaning up my HDD, checking if my HDD died which it hasn't, and updating my drivers, stopping all startup programs, disabling unused Windows apps, though nothing has seemed to fix the problem permanently. I also used to get this "Display driver AMD has stopped responding but has recovered" though I edited something in the registry and it doesn't show this anymore but I still experience the same problem. I'm quite fed up with this, and I'm thinking about buying Windows 7 in an attempt to downgrade.

Since upgrading to windows 10, my monitor randomly goes to power save mode (standby). This appears to be mainly in games. e.g. Lord of the Rings Online, but I have noticed the same in Chrome once in a while. Apart from that, all seems to be fine. I am running the latest GeForce drivers....10.18.13.5362
