View 4 RepliesI've been using Acrobat Reader since upgrading to Windows when it was released in August. This morning I attempted download a PDF file, but was told that the file "couldn't be downloaded". I assumed my copy of Acrobat Reader had become corrupted, so uninstalled it. I then attempted to download and reinstall Acrobat Reader, only to get the following message, "readerdc_en_fb_install.exe couldn't be downloaded". Assuming that Edge may be the problem, I attempted download and install Chrome. But this also resulted in the same message that I received with Acrobat.
I have downloaded and installed all Windows 10 updates through those released yesterday (Friday, 12/4/2015). I have changed nothing with Windows Firewall or Internet Options since originally installing Windows 10 in August.
To make things more confusing, I installed Acrobat Reader in an Acer Aspire V3 laptop this morning, which also is up to date with Win10. Then I successfully downloaded the original PDF file that I referred to above. Therefore I assume something may have become corrupted in my desktop, an HP Pavilion HP8-1234, during the one of the recent Windows 10 updates.
I read a lot of stuff on the internet and it seemed the prevailing solution for this problem is to go into Settings/System/Default Apps and then set the default according to the file extension.
Been there, done that, at least 5 times. And it still opens with Edge and changes the default back to Edge. Microsoft doesn't want you controlling anything, do they?
How do I change this and make Adobe Reader the default, once and for all?
I open a lot of manuals and Edge is so basic. It shows nothing from introduction to index just the manual.
I used to be able to go to the index and find the specific part of the manual I need. Has Microsoft blocked this.
I've had a problem on my laptop.
When I'm reading pdf files using adobe reader, the screen locks itself after 3 minutes as it is supposed to when I'm not using the pc. But I am using the pc and I'm scrolling through the pdf file using the touchpad and yet the screen still locks itself after 3 minutes. This doesn't happen if I'm watching a video or working with documents
Laptop running windows 10, build 10586 November official release. Problem existed before 10586.
I keep getting a fatal error message with Adobe reader v x1 and I can't uninstall it or install any adobe patches or updates. I can't reset my PC either. Cannot open some of my anti malware software either.

View 13 RepliesMost programs on my Adobe CS3 work just fine in Windows 10, but I'm having problems with Illustrator. The program will run, but I get an error message every time I try to open a file or start a new document. My error message says "The program has stopped working" and it forces me to close the program.
I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Creative Suite, and filing a compatibility report, but nothing has worked so far. My mom is using the same user certificate on her Windows 10 machine and it works perfectly, but I haven't had any luck with my computer. What I can do?
I downloaded 7-zip and am trying to compress a sound file and my system saves the file to PDF Adobe format. This means that I cannot open the file.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 7-zip but it isn't working.
My friend's computer will not load web pages:
1. Google and Yahoo searches do work but
2. Clicking on a search result produces a something like "This page cannot be displayed".
3. The problem goes away in Safe Mode.
4. I have run the following commands in batch mode:
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
netsh int reset resetlog.txt
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
5. Other devices have no problem with the router.
6. I have scanned the computer with Malwarebytes, Windows Defender and Avast.
Is there anyway I could use adobe reader to open PDF documents in EDGE? ...
Is there a way to force Edge to download PDF Files, or open in Acrobat Reader?
Just upgraded to Windows 10, and now all of my acrobat files open with through internet explorer (whatever its called now) rather than through the acrobat program. As I result, I cannot edit my pdf files.
View 8 RepliesI would like to know how to delete temp internet files in win 10.
View 4 RepliesI have read I guess all over the net how to delete temp internet files, I have tried everything inc CCleaner nothing seems to work, and I notice that people have written from about august 2015.
Am using a new dell xps 8900 desktop with win 10 pro, am I right to think there is no none workaround unless you reinstall win 10?
"Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened".
First Disk Management doesn't work, now this?
My Windows 10 Experience is being top notch.
Been searching around and people say to reset IE, but Windows 10 doesn't have IE, I deleted some files from AppData like someone said to be able to reset Edge.
Same thing happens, I'm getting quite annoyed at this.
I can't use disk management as well:
Internet Options gives recommended settings for temporary files as between 50 and 250mb. After Windows 10 upgrade mine was set at over14,000mb.
View 1 RepliesDidn't notice until recently that the shortcut to Adobe Acrobat reader is not there and I can't find it in my programs. I was worried about some documents that i had recorded in ecosign but when i typed ecosign into the Search Bar it led me to the site and everything is there except my electronic signature This leads me to think that Adobe is in there somewhere. In going to their site I see that Adobe 11 seems to be the latest. Should I just download it? Before Windows 10 Adobe always sent me update notices.
View 5 RepliesSince an update to windows 10 (last but one) every time I click a pdf file to open it, win10 insists on opening it in Edge - even after selecting 'open with' and confirming Acrobat as my default pdf reader.
View 8 RepliesWe're having a discussion over at DP Review. It's a photography site, but they also have a PC Talk forum. Anyway there's a discussion thread - USB thumb drives vs Card Readers in which we're trying to figure out if Windows will boot from a card reader with a SD card installed?
Basically you install the boot media on the SD card, use a card reader to read and boot from it.
I've never tried or seen this so I may be completely wrong, but I contend that neither Windows nor the BIOS will recognize the card reader as a valid boot drive.
can I install Adobe photoshop 7.0.1 to Windows 10
View 2 RepliesI have a user that is testing out windows 10 and Acrobat DC keeps crashing when saving a.pdf. Tried different .pdf's same result. I have UN-installed dc and re-installed it and still same problem. I don't think this is a problem with Windows 10 as I have had this issue before in windows 7 as well. The only resolution so far is to put Acrobat 11 pro back on. Unfortunately our Manager want us to move toward DC.
View 5 RepliesI loaded Windows 10, which works well, but Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has disappeared?
View 3 RepliesHow can I download photos from my memory stick. I insert the reader in the usb socket I hear the normal sound but nothing shows on the screen. This only happened since I upgraded to windows 10
View 4 RepliesWhen I try to do something that requires flash player I get a message saying I need flash player to continue. It shows it has been downloaded. Edge and Google Chrome both say it is enabled. The test for it says it needs to be enabled or something about active x filtering.
View 7 RepliesI just setup my new Dell XPS 15, but I am having issues with Adobe CC. Whenever I open an app, close it, and open another I get a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE BSoD. It only happens with Adobe CC. I have attached a screenshot of the WhoCrashed report : [URL] ....
View 1 RepliesWhen I was viewing my windows 10 updates I saw some unusual update history of my Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader, (see attachments)I very rarely use this on my Dell Inspiron ONE but thought I would just check it out, and it did of course not work, I tried to find the driver in Device Manager but could not find it? How to know about installing the driver again if it is missing, I tried an external usb card reader and this is seen in File Explorer unlike built in one with sd card inserted.
