Performance :: Errors In Bootlog Resulting In Very Long Load Times?
Nov 7, 2015
So in my bootlog i have a dozen of BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED lines as seen in this screen shot of my bootlog...
These errors are causing my load times to go on as long as 3 mins and alot of sitting at a black screen, also safe mode is a bit better and often results in getting past the black screen alot faster.
I do have a recovery disc for a last resort. But as you can see these go on for quite along time and carry on going like this for the next 3-4 thousand lines .

I just upgraded to windows 10 and one of the things that bugs me is the file explorer on task bar load very slow. It takes around 1 seconds to load if I click on the explorer on task bar. However, if I use the win+E button the explorer open instantly.
I tried to create shortcut from the file explorer exe in windows folder and the time it take to load is about the same with loading on task bar.

I'm desperately trying to improve my boot times given I'm using SSD and when I used Win8.1 I used to have 8 seconds boot time.
This is a clean Win10 installation and all drivers are up to date. I'm using an external eSATA HDD for backups. It seems that Windows is searching or accessing this HDD quite extensively during boot, just before the lock screen.
By default the boot time is 43 seconds (either restart or cold boot when fastboot is on or off). When disconnecting the external HDD, the boot time is about 20 seconds.. which is far more acceptable.
I know there's a hidden partition of 128MB that windows created on that drive but I don't know why and I can't see this partition on Disk Management tool.
My question is, any guide on using a tool to see what's going on with the partitions of the external HDD and possibly delete this 128MB partition in hope to improve boot times.

Got W10, rebooted several times during the process. W10 takes an average 30-35 seconds longer than W8.1 to boot up, and then proceeds to roast my CPU for about 1/2 hr before it settles down, for about 2 mins, then starts roasting it again. During this time, my RAM shoots up to 80% usage.
Again, I rebooted plenty of times, I feared for my high end HP laptop, so I rolled back to W8.1. I will have to wait until MS has its crap together on this one.

Just this morning, many of my apps are taking exactly 30 seconds to load. They sit at their splash screens for 30 seconds, and then load and play fine. No updates on the store, and nothing from Windows Update. Running S3 on TH2 build of W10.

I know there are several threads by this name, but my problem, as far as I know, is quite peculiar and I haven't seen anything similar to this in any thread. Yesterday I did a clean install (actually I wiped the whole hard drive and converted it to MBR since it was in GPT and Windows wasn't letting me install it on GPT filesystem) of Windows 10, and installed all the necessary drivers and the basic essentials. I don't know exactly when but after I was done doing some housekeeping, my Windows started taking too long to boot. What happens is that it shows the Windows loading screen (like in the image attached), does the boot animation for about 5-10 seconds, then blinks the screen momentarily, and then shows the Boot animation screen again. But this time, the loading circle animation is really choppy and the pixels seem to be slightly blown out. Then it takes a good 1-2 mins at that screen and then shows the blue screen with loading animation, shows it for another 15-20 seconds and then shows the Login screen.

I upgraded to WIN10 from WIN7. I use Raxco Instant Recovery to make snapshots of WIN10 in this case. I'm on the main snapshot, and I created a copy called the 2nd snapshot, which I can revert to, to save my bacon if need be. I discovered upon completion of updating the main snapshot to the second snapshot, that there were 1,974 errors in the process shown in the log. WIN10 seems to run OK for the most part.
Later I had to boot to the second snapshot because I had a problem with the task bar not responding on two occasions in the first snapshot. After booting in the second snapshot, I copied it to the first snapshot to eliminate the problem, and at the end, it showed 2,125 errors in the log. My question is, if these errors are just crap that migrated during the upgrade from WIN7 to 10 or do you think there are legitimate errors in my WIN10?

I recently re-installed W10, and used Kari's tutorial to move the Users folder to a partition on another disk, using the sysprep routine.
This is a list of W10s Environment variables that apply to my account (MS/user/admin):
Those that relate to my account all seem to be pointing to the right location (H:Users).
However, until I turned off 'Sync my settings', the event viewer was littered with errors regarding ESENT--Extensible Storage (database) Engine, recorded multiple times per minute in an infinitely repetitive sequence: Events 494, 454, 488 & 413. The 494 event is the trigger:
SettingSyncHost (2876) {068B89D8-0F81-40D5-A335-0959E66CAECB}: Database recovery failed with error -1216 because it encountered references to a database, 'C:UsersomnesAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsSettingSyncmetastoremeta.edb', which is no longer present. The database was not brought to a Clean Shutdown state before it was removed (or possibly moved or renamed). The database engine will not permit recovery to complete for this instance until the missing database is re-instated. If the database is truly no longer available and no longer required, procedures for recovering from this error are available in the Microsoft Knowledge Base or by following the "more information" link at the bottom of this message.
Any way of directing the SettingSyncHost process to the right location? The drive/partition label (C:) should be H:, but otherwise the path is correct, and the db file (which is a hidden, system file) exists in that location.
It's not a problem for at present, as I don't have any devices that use that account, and have turned off 'Sync my settings' via Account settings; but it may be in the future, and may also be an issue for those who have moved the Users folder and have devices that give them that syncing feeling.
Incidentally, virtually all references in the MKB describe permissions rather than location problems, and the "more information" link in Event Viewer (Event Log Online Support) provides no information (Page Not Found).

Experienced plenty of issues with win 10 installations after upgrades from say WIN 7. The issues are just about all related to the disappearance of MS Edge and the Start Menu.
One should run the SFC /scannow command , followed by the more complicated DISM command and then finally the very complicated powershell command.
Almost no replies are made after one runs the SFC command and even the DISM command and no errors are found.
What should one conclude if the SFC command and the DSIM command report no errors? Secondly what is the best next step in trying to recover from the issue at hand?

Started with a dual boot Windows 7 pro / XP HP Elite 8300. Upgraded Windows 7 to 10 and now it seems to take forever for the boot menu to show up. I can hit restart, it shuts down then just sits there doing nothing for several minutes. No hard drive activity, no video just the power light. Then it looks like it reboots and finally displays the boot menu.
With Windows 7 it went through the normal boot process and displayed the boot menu without the dead-in-the-water pause.

I just bought this new ASUS K550J laptop and came with Windows 8.1 with it but I wanted to install Windows 10, fresh install. I did the usual things needed for installation and it was ok but it takes too long to boot up. Here is a video of what am I speaking. It's UEFI and I think it's the Windows Boot Manager, how can I reset it?
Code:
Windows Boot Manager--------------------identifier {bootmgr}device
partition=DeviceHarddiskVolume2path
EFIMicrosoftBootbootmgfw.efidescription
Windows Boot Managerlocale

Previously if I double clicked the shortcuts of Steam, Origin and Uplay while they were running instantly maximized their windows. Now if I double click them it takes a long time before they are maximized as if the computer is reloading them from scratch. I also have GOG Galaxy as a shortcut but it does not happen with that icon. What do you think changed?
The only thing that IO think might be related is that I disabled indexing of C drive but I later found that it was not a good idea and changed it back to indexing enabled.

I've upgraded my laptop from W8.1Pro to W10Pro. At first everything was fine, but now the boot is very slow with the icons taking ages to appear on the desktop and the taskbar. I've removed almost all the automatic start up items, defragged and reinstalled the graphics driver.

I started experiencing this after my brother installed some malware on my pc while playing CS GO. I have removed all the malware i could find and have ran memory and disk tests which have shown me nothing but positive results, but when i run furmark the disk usage climbs to 100%. I also have noticed my nothbridge overheating which might be the issue. I also have a shady 600W psu that needs changing because it is old and I don't trust it.
I have
CPU: intel i5 3330
GPU: Nvidia gforce gtx680 refrence
RAM: 8GB kingston value ram
PSU: 600W super cheap generic psu that came with the case
HDD: wdc wd5000aakx-001ca0 500GB that needs changing
MOBO: msi MSI H61MA-E35 (B3)

Edit:I found out the reason for my hdd stopping while under load was that one of my 6 pins was a 2molex to 6pin adapter and one of the molex cables was also the one powering my hdd through a sata power cable. So i plugged in a different one and now it's fine.

My Laptop has an ongoing problem (about a month now) persistent through several windows updates. The taskbar will sometimes, with no clear trigger or cause, start to rapidly flash between all my open windows, eventually when I click anywhere on the taskbar I am prompted with a not responding windows and the only option is to end the "microsoft windows" process. All the taskbar icons then disappear and seem to reload over approx 10 seconds, once this is complete, all the same windows are open, its as if nothing has happened?Needless to say this is seriously irritating, and gets me raging so my productivity hits rock bottom,

No matter which video player I use, nor which video format I am trying to play, the file hangs sometimes for several minutes before finally playing. Sometimes I have to manually close the program and start it again because it just takes too long. This seems to be happening with all video formats, all players. Got me stumped and it is very annoying. These are files stored on my hard drive, but it is also happening with streaming live video from the internet. I usually have to stay connected to the video site for several minutes before it starts to play.

For the past two months or so I have been having trouble with my PC getting BSOD and then shutting down. The really strange thing is that after this happens I am unable to reboot the computer for a few days. Any attempt to restart the computer immediately or even hours later or the next day just results in my computer just attempting to power on repeatedly. I can hear it powering up for a few seconds, fans spinning and lights in the case turn on but before it gets as far as displaying anything at all on the screen it will power off again and automatically try power back on again. This process will repeat itself indefinitely and because it never gets as far as displaying anything on the screen I can't boot into safe mode or do anything really to troubleshoot. However if I hold the power button in until the computer stops trying to turn on and leave it for 2-3 days then try power it on it will usually work perfectly as if nothing was ever wrong!
I really do not understand why this just randomly happens, I'm not usually doing anything intensive on the computer when it crashes and why can I not power the computer back on until days later??
Attached are screenshots showing my PC info and BSOD dumps as viewed in BlueScreenView.

So I decided to upgrade my Windows 8.1 Lenovo G510 to Windows 10 yesterday. Bottom line: everything went wrong.
1. I got the notification that Windows 10 was downloaded and ready to be installed to my Windows 8.1 (64) system. So I did and everything went successfully until my system restarted. I kept getting the error "INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR" and restart loop. The laptop will start with the Lenovo logo and the loading dial, then the error pops up. After a few loops it gives me the option to tinker with the command prompt, recovery, etc.
2. So I went online and people were saying how Windows 10 conflicts with AMD graphics. What worked for most people was disabling their AMD in safe mode. I tried to entering safe mode through F8 (fn+F8) for my Lenovo laptop and nothing was working. I searched online and people were saying I can change my bcdedit to startup in safe mode everytime. So I went into the command prompt and typed in bcdedit /set {default} safeboot network. I restarted and everything went SOUTH! A new sequence of looping began: 1. Lenovo logo appears with loading dial, fades to black, logo and dial reappears then disappears as the system shuts down and the cycle loops. Sometimes before the second logo and dial disappear, the text 'Restarting' appears very quickly under the loading dial. Sometimes the text 'Safe Mode' in all 4 corners appears for less than .5 second before the system shuts down.
3. At this point there's nothing I can do but enter the InsyndeH20 Setup Utility through F2. Please visit this link for pictures of my settings and laptop specs. [URL] .....
I decided to try the USB boot with Windows 10 MediaCreationTool on a USB and the install interface showed up when I reboot. From here I could access the repair options and open command compt again, but I can't revert the bcdedit back to normal. It says "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found" when I type bcdedit /enum. View here: [URL] ....
4. At this point, I'm okay with wiping everything and starting fresh. I would like to keep my files but I was over it. However, it says that Windows cannot be installed on any of my drives! Only allows for Delete and Formating, the New button is gray. All of them say Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. I know that the laptop I copied the MediaCreationTool is a 32bit and my Lenovo laptop is a 64bit. Is it possible that is the reason why I can't install windows? When I try to run the MediaCreationToolx64 on my backup, a 'This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running'.

I'm having this issue since I upgraded to Win 10: when I click restart, my laptop becomes stuck on the restart screen for ages, even the hard drive doesn't show any signs of activity. Its only after like 15 mins or so the hard drive comes into life and the computer turns off. What could be causing this?Normal shut down and hibernate aren't affected.

I did a clean install to Windows 10 on my new computer on Feb. 12. I also installed Office 2016 at that time. Since then there were a few updates on that day, Feb 12 and two or more on Feb 14th. and then nothing. And nothing at all for Office 2016. Am I missing something or have updates really slowed down.
