View 2 RepliesMy pc is still running when it somehow crashes my monitor switches off to a black screen showing no signal pc requires hard shut down to turn off sometimes even flipping switch on power supply for it to shut down. I have a verifier file to this post but im unsure if it shows the issue as the problem is not showing up as an event. the problem seems to be at random instead of being provoked I restored back to a windows update for 12/25/15 instead of before verifier to see if problem persists after a critical update was installed.

View 5 RepliesI recently built the PC I am currently experiencing this issue on. I have built several gaming PC's in the past, but never have I experienced any consistent issues such as this.

I built the PC in mid February of this year, 2015. This particular issue started happening consistently (daily basis) in June. While gaming, my PC will all of a sudden, at random, lock up completely. I try Alt+f4, Ctrl+Alt+Del, and Alt+Tab, but nothing responds. The PC just stays like this until I'm forced to do a hard-reset at the tower.
I've tried just about everything I can think of to resolve this problem. I thought since it only happens when I game that perhaps it's a cooling issue and my system is overheating. However, I've ran a slew of programs to monitor heat and none show anything abnormal.
Many articles suggested malware or spyware might be causing the lock-ups. So I've chosen to clean my system daily but the issue still persists.
At one point I was able to eliminate the problem completely for nearly 3 weeks by changing my power settings from 'Power-Saver' to 'High-Performance'. Unfortunately, the issue came back. Asus Suite II regularly reports power fluctuations which leads me to believe it might possibly be a failing Power-Supply but I'm just not sure.
Windows Event Viewer lists a myriad of different application and system errors each time it happens. Recently however, it is always showing errors from Microsoft.Windows.Store, DistributedCOM, and Service Control Manager, all coinciding with the exact time the system locks up and becomes unresponsive.
It's worth noting that this system started out running Windows 7 Home Premium and just recently upgraded to Windows 10. The problem existed regardless of OS.
I had recently performed a clean reinstall when I upgraded my laptop to a Samsung 850 Evo, and ever since then I've had problems with sleep. If I initiate sleep, hibernation, or shutdown then the screen goes black but the status LEDs stay on. punching all the buttons do NOTHING, with my only recourse being to press the power button until the lights go out. After which the system acts as if I woke from hibernation as normal. Restarts are unaffected, which is a good thing as having to force-restart my laptop every week will get old fast.I believe I have installed all needed drivers, and Device Manager does not show anything missing.

View 3 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 everything seems to run fine but system will not restart from the restart selection on the start menu. Windows update will not reboot automatically either. System looks like it is going to reboot, everything shuts down but as system trys to restart everything freezes. Only way around it is to do a hard shutdown by holding the power button. Updated graphics card,hard drive and bios but still no luck.

View 9 RepliesOkay so I've upgraded and use windows 10 for about 2 weeks now. All is fine until I've experienced this random shutdown where the computer turns off completely in a splitsecond then reboots itself.No BSODs, no warnings at all. Recently, it's been shutting itself down and reboots itself but won't even make it to the login screen before it shuts itself down again and this will continue in a loop. I had to turn off the plug and turn it back on. It will prompt a system restore which the computer will work fine for a while after the system restore. I assume this problem is because of windows 10 because I have not experienced this problem when I was using windows 8.1.

URL...In control panel under windows update I click "view update history",URL...I'm assuming it has to do with my previous problem in the previous post, another problem might have been that I shut down during a restart for an update because my computer sometimes has problems starting up so I have to unplug my desktop and plug it back in for it to work. (when it restarts it says overclocking failed thought I don't overclock so I enter and exit the BIOS to get back to normal)

In prior versions of Windows when I would take an update, I might just wait until I shut the PC down for the night, and it would finish up in the morning upon startup. In Windows 10 that no longer works (for me) it MUST be a Reboot for it to process...
View 9 RepliesHere's some background; for the first few days Windows 10 was fine, no problems what so ever but then it I was just listening to music browsing the web, no games or any cpu/ram intensive stuff running and all of a sudden my music stops and then I get taken straight to my bios screen as my PC just restarts out of nowhere. As it is starting up however it shows the black screen with the Windows logo in the middle and the loading circles spinning round, then it shows a black screen and I hear the sound of Windows starting up, wait a few seconds and it says "Configuring updates" or "Configuring Windows" (can't quite remember) Anyway, as it comes back on it I get a little notification saying Windows updates were installed. Then 5 or so mintues later it does it again. Either it's coincidence or it has something to do with it but for a few hours when I was playing GTA V nothing happened for the rest of that time of my PC being loaded.
Again, I was watching an MP4 (I use VLC Player if that has anything to do with it) and it blue screens out of nowhere (I can't remember the exact reason but I've uploaded the crash dumps here [URL] .... ) dunno if the blue screen has anything to do with the random crashing
TL;DR: Windows 10 keeps randomly turning itself off without warning, sometimes going straight to the bios screen and loading back up sometimes just completely off and requires me to turn it back on.

I've installed Windows 10 just fine, with the latest Nvidia Win 10 driver, however when I reboot my system nothing works, not the start menu, not the apps, they do nothing, can't shut down except for a hard shutdown, after the hard shutdown the start menu and apps work fine until the next shutdown,
View 4 RepliesI've been experiencing startup issues with my PC since last night. I go to startup and startup freezes. It seems that something is either stuck or freezing up on loading. Since it doesn't fully boot up, I have been hitting the reset button or holding the power button. It appears that this has made the problem worse. I went to startup this morning and am getting the same thing. Did the same steps of hitting reset and or holding the power button to shutdown. After this I am getting BSOD that keeps restarting and BSOD in a loop. The next boot loaded with repair options. I attempted to do startup repair and have been unsuccessful. How to get out of BSOD restart loop?

View 9 RepliesI installed W10. This problem appears to be random and happens a couple of time a month. It is really annoying. What happens is, the WiFi appears to stop working. It can't find any available networks and won't reconnect no matter what I do. I have even tried closing/restarting explorer but that does nothing.
If I try to shut-down or restart my computer, it just hangs on the shut-down/restart screen. I have to hold down the power button to get my computer to shut-down. The weird thing is, after a restart, it works fine ...for a few weeks. It just seems very strange.
I use a WiFi dongle. I have a couple of them so I tried each one - they all eventually give me the same result . I have a HP if that works.
If I leave Western Digital My Book plugged into a usb3 port at shut down there will be a restart in a few seconds.
This has been the action through both versions of Win10. (Currently on the 2nd version as of Nov.20) At this time the only items that allow restart are mouse, keyboard and network adapter Fast Start is turned off An extra usb3 board was installed during the first Win10 but two usb3 items cannot be inserted side by side.
One will read as a usb2 if two are inserted into the new 2 ports in the rear. This My Book now is the only item plugged into that back USB3 port. The drivers for usb3 appear to be current according to the mfg site. When this external is ejected then the computer shuts down. On Win7 pro this external could be left plugged in all the time.
Is a line of attack to remove this new usb (2 on front, 2 on back) and start over with another?
Every time I try to put put my laptop to sleep, hibernate, restart it or shutdown, it stalls for about 10 minutes before giving me a Driver Power State Failure.
Having installed "WhoCrashed" and "Windbg", I was able to determine it was related to "ntkrnlmp.exe", "ndis.sys", "raspppoe.sys" and a vpn driver at one point or another. I "believe" I managed to uninstall the offending vpn driver but of course still overall have the same issue.
This appeared to occur while trying to do a windows update last week but I can't be sure. I presume, there is a out of date or corrupt driver but just can't seem to determine which one.
A friend of mine gifted me with a plethora of new hardware, to the point where I had to buy a new mobo. Did a fresh install of Win10 in the hopes to not run into driver issues and it was solid for about a week. Recently, however crashes have been happening with some regularity, every other day or so, especially when streaming. This is the first time it's actually given a blue screen. Showed the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message.

My PC performance with Windows 10 is very good except when it isn't
One of the things that is perplexing me is that my external hard drives seem to be impacting my startup performance. Following start up Task Manager performance tab shows one of my external drives (G) working at nearly 100% and the noisy disk drive suggests that it is working hard. The disk transfer rate also indicates movement between the PC and the drive. This is despite Drive G being used only as a storage/backup device with no automated actions configured. Yesterday Drive G became very hot as a result.
If I disconnect Drive G, my second external hard drive Drive F takes its place and task manager shows the same activity as previously shown on G. If both drives are connected F shows no activity.
Two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers.The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.
I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.
I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen.

Basically i lost everything on my external HDD & the only way to get the drive working again was to format it, That fixed the problem the drive was having (Unknown why data got lost) but if i disconnect the drive & reconnect i get message (the drive is inaccessible & corrupted) Something like that cant remember the wording exactly as its not happening right now, but i know the problem will come back & i will once again lose all my data, as its happened 5 times over 2 week period..
If i restart the PC, after startup its the only drive that's not visible either in (This PC), (Disk Management) or in (Device Manager) which leaves me with no option but to disconnect & reconnect the drive in order for it to be visible & Accessible, Now sometimes it works fine but once it becomes inaccessible it stays that way unless i format it Losing all data once again ...

I had to do a pc reset on a different pc. Everything went ok and pc reset froze at 10 % for ages.So i turned off pc and restarted it hoping this should be ok. Pc restarted ok but a box appears stating windows installation encountered an unexpected error click ok and restart pc to continue installation.
I follow the step but all i see is at bottom of screen with Delete and F2 BIOS setup and same message appears.ie my pc gets into a loop. How do i get my pc working again..or is pc useless now ?
