I got a new laptop. From most of the articles online, I am getting that the optimum range of charging for batteries these days is 30% to 80%. Does Windows 10 have a tool to implement "range" charging?
I am in of a "Free Back/Recovery Program" that is so EASY as pie to understand. I want to backup my pc and also be able to restore and all of this has to be easy for me to run it. I will be backing up onto my external harddrive.I have tried Acronis True Image and to hard to recover back my partitions and etc..
I'm running a task schedule to run a program at a certain time. It worked great in windows 7 but since I upgraded to 10 nothing happens when the task is run. I've run SFC and Dism see below and no problems found.
C:WINDOWSsystem32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I just updated to Win10, and now whenever I charge my computer the screen goes black.
I tried this:
1) Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel. 2) Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel. 3) Click on View all on the left navigation pane. Click on Power. 4) Click on Advanced on the power troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required). 5) Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Power troubleshooter.
I have Lumia 730 Dual Sim with Windows 10 latest update.
Since evening whenever I plug charger it gives me notification that "Phone Charging Slowly... Charged Phone is Happy Phone.. Always use Original data cable or charger that came with device...."
I'm using same charger which came with mobile. This notification is coming when I plugin data cable with lappy. That was okay. Because with lappy USB port it will charge slow but why with charger I'm getting same notification?
I've had this HP Envy for years and today my battery won't charge. I'm plugged in, so it's not dying, but my battery is at 1% and the battery status mouseover says "1% available (plugged in, not charging)". I've tried all the search results for this problem, including going into Device Manager and uninstalling the battery driver then scanning for updates, but it's still not charging. I even went into Command Prompt and tried sfc /scannow but it didn't change anything.
When the laptop is running a game, mostly client games (such as MKX, Gmod, etc.) the charge will flicker and I feel this is a reason for graphics card not working (but thats another issue). Whenever I close out of the game, the battery instantly begins charging again.
My laptop has a battery light which tells me when my laptop is fully charged. When it is fully charged (it is green), Windows still says "05 minutes until fully charged" and then charges for another half hour. In the past the light has been reliable, so I believe that windows 10 is the issue. My laptop has also had significant issues with charging. I can confirm this with two batteries. I have an Asus K55VD which I haven't changed the battery plugs in or anything like that. What could my problem be? Here's what I've tried:
-Disabling and re-enabling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery (no change) -Turning power saving off in BIOS (did a bit with the charging problem) -Fixing the fan (turns out it wasn't spinning, which caused a range of issues. Worked for battery charge issue a bit) -Keeping the laptop shut down (didn't work) -Keeping it asleep (didn't work) -Keeping it on with the screen off (did work it charge)
Yet I can't find a fix for the battery charging percentage and time issue.
Ever since I installed the latest "service pack" of Windows 10, my start menu doesn't work and my battery doesn't charge. I've found work around for the start menu creating links on my desktop to my personal start menu and the all users start menu. For now, I just need to leave my computer plugged in. I've fixed the plugged in not charging in the past. But in the past, I've always had a laptop that has a removable battery. This laptop doesn't. But since all this is due to the major upgrade of 10, seems like there has to be a simple or common fix.
Every time I connect my phone to my computer to charge it, the Photo app searches for new photos. How can I turn this annoying thing off? Couldn't find any button in the settings.
I've notice that on windows 10 and 8.1, task manager would show the my max cpu core speed is 2.3-2.4 ghz. However, my Core 2 Quad q8400 is rated at 2.66 ghz. I tried changing the power settings in windows and try lowering my cpu temperature, but my speed would never reach 2.66 ghz.
My PC performance with Windows 10 is very good except when it isn't
One of the things that is perplexing me is that my external hard drives seem to be impacting my startup performance. Following start up Task Manager performance tab shows one of my external drives (G) working at nearly 100% and the noisy disk drive suggests that it is working hard. The disk transfer rate also indicates movement between the PC and the drive. This is despite Drive G being used only as a storage/backup device with no automated actions configured. Yesterday Drive G became very hot as a result.
If I disconnect Drive G, my second external hard drive Drive F takes its place and task manager shows the same activity as previously shown on G. If both drives are connected F shows no activity.
I'm facing a problem with the task manager. Suddenly both of my HDs stopped showing any activity in the task manager and are constantly show 0% although there is activity and despite the fact that in the resource monitor activity is shown properly. What the fault might be?
I think they've stopped after I connected an external HD. But I am not sure though so don't rely on that being the issue.
I have been having some really annoying performance problems after upgrading my laptop from win8 to win 10.
My laptop is a asus ux32vd, with an Intel i7-3517U cpu.(normal core speed: 1.7ghz, turbo: 2.4ghz)
CPU-Z is showing ~990mhz constantly, no matter how high load there is on the cpu, and what temperature it is(usually around 50-60C).
I just cant figure out what is going on, and why it keeps throttling. Everything is running really slow, chrome is slow, facebook is tough to scroll through. Tried resetting the power plans to default, that didnt work. sometimes it works for changing power plan, and the restarting, but its not consistent at all. What it could be?
Is it possible to make a .reg file to optimize my visual effects for best performance for all users that sign into one PC?
I want to do this because we have many people who sign into the PC via our Active Directory through the network. If I can get a .reg file that just applies this to all users that would be awesome!
I've been trying to uninstall google chrome for a while but each time I try to do, I get a message that says " Please close all google chrome windows (including those in Windows 8 mode) and try again"...
I don't even know what that means, what does it mean by windows 8 mode and how can I uninstall the program?
Asus UX305F laptop I bought last week. It's working fine apart from a couple of things:
- When the battery is getting low, say from 10% and down, the performance drops dramatically and everything, particularly the internet, runs so slow that it's almost impossible to use until I reconnect the charger. I've changed the on-battery power settings to match the performance settings when it's plugged in and it hasn't made any difference.
- When I'm using the laptop in my bedroom which is adjacent to the living room where the WIFI signal is coming from, the connection is extremely slow, much slower than my mobile phone for example. In the living room I average about 50mbps whereas in the bedroom I'd be lucky to get 20mbps though my phone can get about 40mbps in the same room.
I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 on an eight year old laptop which previously was running Windows 7. Everything appears to have gone well and I am enjoying the new operating system. However, every time I boot up and get to the desktop a small box appears on the screen with the following wording "Warning. The program don't support the project" with an OK button and an X close button. Clicking on either of these closes the box and I simply carry on as normal. What concerns me is the bad grammar "don't support" and I am concerned it might be some sort of malware.
I have just started using windows 10 on a new PC. I have tried to download an anti virus program. It downloads and installs (well it appears to) but the program is not there when finished. Not in the programs lists or on 'remove programs' either. I cant find any way of searching the PC like I did in XP or Vista 'search for all files and folders'. Is this option still there hidden away to make things more difficult?
I just upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two days ago. I installed Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 last night. Office seems working fine. However, this morning I cannot start any program, such as Adobe Reader and Google Chrome. No error message. I even cannot uninstall the chrome from Control Panel!
Nothing changed. Only one thing I notice is that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 Redistributables have been added automatically.
Using windows 10 on a Surface 3. I've tried to download several programs from the internet using chrome and the explorer that comes with windows 10.
It will show were it downloads and says it is complete, but it will not open and run the program. It just disappears . I have went to downloads and tried to run it as administrator. Then it will pop up with a error code, Windows can not find the download make sure you typed the name correctly.
I'm not sure when this started, but when I first switched over I had to download iTunes 2 times which went through. Now nothing.
