While looking things over on Speccy, I noticed that hyperthreading is not enabled on my system. Should I enable it, and what would be the benefits. Also, if I do enable, how would I go about it. I will try to post a screen shot from Speccy to show what I have.

Noticed my System Protection was not enabled.
Can't click on the "Turn on......" Does nothing when I try to "Turn on...."

I have WDS (Windows Deployment Services) running Windows Server 2012 (not R2) which is used to deploy Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 without problems.
Now I want to deploy Windows 10, but the problem is - when I add Windows 10 (build 10240) boot.wim to my WDS and try to network boot a virtual machine (hyper-v), windows logo appears and nothing else.

However, when I try to network boot using a physical hardware (a laptop), boot process works just fine, everything is as expected. The some goes for using Oracle VM Virtualbox; when I do a network boot in this virtual machine, it works.
So my guess is there is a problem with Hyper-V. I'm using Hyper-V on Windows 8.1 x64.
while trying to set up a virtual switch I discover I need to install the 'Hyper-v Extensible Virtual Switch' network protocol to enable the virtual switch manager. I install the protocol and go to enable it to only to get this message:
Ok, fine, I'll play along. After everything was disabled I checked off the Extensible virtual switch only to get this:
I can't enable the virtual switch protocol what so ever.
I've got windows 10 TP on my Hyper-V virtual machine on my Windows 8.1 . The problem is I need to get the VM to get connected to internet so I tried create an external virtual switch, but when I try to create it, it shows me an error -
"failed while adding virtual ethernet swith connections ethernet port {something...}
bind failed: catastrophic failure(0*8000FFFF)."
This happens when i assign external network provider as my Realtek RTL8723BE wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC. this is my wireless network adapter.
The switch is created when i assign the external network provider as Realtek PCIe GBE family controller, this is my ethernet adapter, but since there is no internet connection via ethernet, this is of no use to me.
My laptop is Lenovo z50-70, and windows 8.1
So i wanted to watch youtube video in microsoft edge. When I start watching video sound starts gliching/freezing, that happens when i use hypper youtube client from microsoft store.

Is it possible to enable Hybrid Sleep in Windows 10? This is what WIkipedia says in the article about Sleep mode:
Sleep mode and hibernation can be combined: the contents of RAM are first copied to non-volatile storage like for regular hibernation, but then, instead of powering down, the computer enters sleep mode. This approach combines the benefits of sleep mode and hibernation: The machine can resume instantaneously, but it can also be powered down completely (e.g. due to loss of power) without loss of data, because it is already effectively in a state of hibernation. This mode is called "hybrid sleep" in Microsoft Windows other than Windows XP.
It's not the same as Fast Startup, because this is basically a stripped-down variant of hibernation as described in the original post. I can't find the option to enable Hybrid Sleep anywhere.

View 9 RepliesI upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.
HP clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.
The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything.They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...
So any solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?
I have disable system protection on my primary (C:) which is an SSD.
When trying to enable system protection on my 1TB HDD (E:), the option is simply greyed out.
I had hoped to save writes on my SSD to increase it's lifespan, and it appears to be recommended in various SSD optimisation guides. Is it at all possible to enable system restore points to be saved on other hard drives?
In windows 7, I could drag maximized windows between monitors without having to resize them. How do I enable this with Windows 10? I do not use Windows snap, nor do I want to what-so-ever. Disabling it was the very first thing I had to do before I lost my mind. How frustrating it was.
Also, is there a way to change the color of the drag area on windows/folders? For example the area where I'd click to drag a firefox window is the same color as everything else. In windows 7, it was blue, while the file/edit and tab areas were grey. From the very first time after fresh update from Windows 8 to 10 - there was a problem to have Lock Screen.
I like the simple information on it and quick display off after a while not used...
Then, after any option possible used to enable it, it somehow appeared after windows update. I was lucky to have it back. Self customized to black background without any disturbing images and icons - only pure time and date.
And, then, after last whole build update from 10240 to 10586 - again NO MORE LOCK SCREEN .....
Tested again any possible option (system option, gpedit option, registry change) - nothing works like after first upgrade from 8 to 10...
If I try to set the notebook (Lenovo Yoga 15) to Lock, it appears blank black (my custom solid color) background for around 2 seconds, and then it goes directly to login dialog (personal image with login button).
Is there an easy way to disable and re-enable groups of services / processes in Windows 10 so that the computer can be switched between optimization 'profiles' for, say, routine office work, audio/video editing, and gaming?
I have two computers now - one for routine office work (e.g., Office suite, Quickbooks) and a dedicated audio/video editing workstation. The latter is very powerful and I'd like to use it for both jobs, but not if all those background processes (59 total), like Cortana, OneDrive, iCloud mean sacrificing resources for critical A/V work. Neither do I have the time or patience to manually disable scores of Startup apps and services each time I throw my A/V hat on.
I've noticed that I need to switch the entire computer to a Microsoft account, just to use Cortana!
Is there a way to use Cortana normally, but while keeping the local account?
On Windows 8, I used to be able to sign in individually for each app, can I do the same thing for Cortana?
On my Dell Alienware m14x it seems that I can not find a way to disable the feature that enables a delay between the time you can click or move on the touchpad to when you can press a key. Meaning, if I quickly stop typing and attempt to move my touchpad, I must wait a couple of seconds before my touchpad enables itself again. This feature was added to stop people from accidentally pressing the pad while typing.

View 4 RepliesThe issue I am currently having is enabling NumLock before the logon, I have modified the corresponding registry key (Find attached my screenshot below) and that works perfectly fine when restarting my PC, however I have fast-startup (Screenshot also below) enabled and if I shutdown my PC and then boot it up again, NumLock is disabled by default. I have made numerous searches and can't seem to find any information in regards to Fast-startup or any registry keys linked to it and I don't particularly want to disable Fast-startup. Just to clarify, NumLock is always enabled before logon when booting up my PC and Fast-startup is disabled, however with Fast-startup enabled, NumLock is only enabled when restarting my computer.
