Basically, I want to have this one application window appear on all desktops. I'd like to be able to do it without having to pay for other software to achieve this. (DisplayFusion will do it, but for a fee of $25. And I really don't want to run another process and pay for the use of just one feature.)
I have a powerful laptop with Windows 10 Pro installed : CPU : i7-4712HQ @2.3GhzRAM : 16 GBVideo : Nvidia GeForce GT 750M
When I switch between virtual desktops the animations are pretty laggy, which it's kinda weird, because on my Surface 3 Pro which is a low weaker than this laptop the animations are very smooth.
PS : Animation is not so slow, but it has some lag. I also have in the Intel and Nvidia Graphics all set up to high performance.
I have the sticky notes icon on the task bar. When I hover over it my note shows up but when I click on it it does not appear maximized on the desk top.
I just installed windows 10, and the top and bottom corners of the border between my monitors catch my mouse regardless of how fast I'm moving. The MouseCornerClipLength registry entry is missing, and adding it makes no difference...
You know how you can add more virtual desktops on windows 10? Well i was wondering if i could have like a background for Desktop 1, and have a completely separate background for Desktop 2.
My fat cat in a white hat sat flat on my clickity-clack (keyboard) and created over 9000 desktops. How do I close them all without needing to open Task View and clicking X on every single desktop?
I like to hear some music in background while I'm working, like everyone does. So I fire off some playlist on youtube in some browser and put that browser in its own desktop. But recently I stumbled upon PerfectTube (check it out here [URL] .... ).
So instead of a browser I began to use PerfectTube but it seems that the App works as long as I'm in the same virtual desktop as the App is, if we switch the desktop the playback pauses( in some seconds). I first thought it was something to do with the App, so I tried other Apps, even they seem to suspend when in some other desktop.
Is there a way, a registry hack or some toggle I missed, to let the apps remain alive even when present in an other desktop. There seems to be no such problem with desktop applications like wmp or vlc.
Possibly in Windows XP when it was installed, in order to have several desktops, dealing with various subjects, I simply created a whole bunch of User Accounts. So, I changed user accounts to get to the desktop I wanted.
Now that I have Windows10, is there an advantage to using the New Desktop feature? I'd just have one user account then.
I'm using Fences to sort my desktops.
Also, my data, which shows up in my desktops is stored on a separate partition from C drive.
Is it possible to place different sets of icons on different desktop ? For example, having desktop 1 empty, desktop 2 full of files, desktop 3 with shortcuts to programmes/games, etc. Also is there a way to have a different wallpaper on each desktop, to tell them apart faster ?
My guess is all of that is not possible, given that additional desktops are not supposed to be "permanent", but rather added/deleted quickly. But maybe with a bit of tweaking ?
I have a question regarding Edge in Windows 10 with respect to "multiple desk tops".
Ive noticed that after opening a web site with Edge in the first desktop and then adding a second desktop (+,) that when I try to open a different website in desktop #2 WITH EDGE, it reverts back to the first desktop and wont allow you to open it in the second desk top as long as you are using Edge in desktop #2 after using Edge in desktop #1.
I'm not sure why this is the case, but I would imagine that quite a few people would like to be able to open websites on different desk tops using Edge in both. I don't think this can be done by simply creating a second desktop and trying to open a website with Edge after using Edge in desk top #1.
You can move a website using Edge in Desktop #1 to Desktop #2 (using Edge as well) by dragging and dropping from desktop #1 to desktop #2. This is fine, but I think it would be a lot better to be able to open a website directly in desk top #2 using Edge rather than having to drag and drop from desktop #1.
Is it possible to have a single application, for example Outlook, appear on multiple virtual desktops? I use different desktops to separate the opened windows for multiple clients. However, something like Outlook would be applicable to all clients.
1- How do you disable the login screen for the MS account? i went to netplwiz and disabled it but it still keeps asking for MS account password every time i open my PC.
2- Is it possible to use a virtual desktop on a 2nd monitor?
My intention of using the HDD is to have it "mobile" and move it from my W7 desktop, W10 laptop, W10 insider and W10 RTM machines for storing images etc. It work's as expected when connected to W7 and my W10 laptop. It will not however work with either of my W10 desktop machines. i.e. When connected, it says the disk must be initialized before it can be recognized. I am using usb type connections, but I am guessing? Initializing will render the data on there now as useless?
Virtual desktops but IMO shouldn't each desktop run an application unaware that another instance might be running on another desktop. The OS itself can keep track of shared storage areas etc so we aren't talking here about running separate virtual machines.
What I'm thinking of as an example is say I'm running EXCEL on VD1 and I'm downloading data from the web. On VD2 I should be able to start another instance of EXCEL and download data from another website.
BOTH applications should still run irrespective of which desktop is the active one. I get the impression that the NON active desktops don't still continue to run processes in the background if they are essentially a "shared process" like EXCEL.
Say I have a desktop 1 with MS Word open. If I then open another desktop (desktop 2), and then open a word file from my hard drive on desktop 2, windows 10 will take me out of desktop 2, put be back on desktop 1, and then open the file I requested. I then have to open the desktop switcher, and manually drag the word document from desktop 1 to desktop 2.
Effectively, if I have a window of one application open in one desktop, and I then open the same application in a different desktop, windows will move me back to the original desktop and open the application there.
This is extremely annoying and occurs with all applications, is there any way to fix it?
I've just started using Virtual Desktops on my Windows 10 Pro Laptop & wondered if the layout(s) of apps was preserver through power cycles (Reboots/shutdown & startup, or if they require setting up after each bootup?
Can Virtual Desktops be saved from session to session?
Can I recall today's Virtual Desktops with all their windows, documents, and open applications when I restart the computer tomorrow? Can the session and the Desktops be saved before shutting down the computer?
I've notice that on windows 10 and 8.1, task manager would show the my max cpu core speed is 2.3-2.4 ghz. However, my Core 2 Quad q8400 is rated at 2.66 ghz. I tried changing the power settings in windows and try lowering my cpu temperature, but my speed would never reach 2.66 ghz.
My PC performance with Windows 10 is very good except when it isn't
One of the things that is perplexing me is that my external hard drives seem to be impacting my startup performance. Following start up Task Manager performance tab shows one of my external drives (G) working at nearly 100% and the noisy disk drive suggests that it is working hard. The disk transfer rate also indicates movement between the PC and the drive. This is despite Drive G being used only as a storage/backup device with no automated actions configured. Yesterday Drive G became very hot as a result.
If I disconnect Drive G, my second external hard drive Drive F takes its place and task manager shows the same activity as previously shown on G. If both drives are connected F shows no activity.
I'm facing a problem with the task manager. Suddenly both of my HDs stopped showing any activity in the task manager and are constantly show 0% although there is activity and despite the fact that in the resource monitor activity is shown properly. What the fault might be?
I think they've stopped after I connected an external HD. But I am not sure though so don't rely on that being the issue.
I have been having some really annoying performance problems after upgrading my laptop from win8 to win 10.
My laptop is a asus ux32vd, with an Intel i7-3517U cpu.(normal core speed: 1.7ghz, turbo: 2.4ghz)
CPU-Z is showing ~990mhz constantly, no matter how high load there is on the cpu, and what temperature it is(usually around 50-60C).
I just cant figure out what is going on, and why it keeps throttling. Everything is running really slow, chrome is slow, facebook is tough to scroll through. Tried resetting the power plans to default, that didnt work. sometimes it works for changing power plan, and the restarting, but its not consistent at all. What it could be?
Is it possible to make a .reg file to optimize my visual effects for best performance for all users that sign into one PC?
I want to do this because we have many people who sign into the PC via our Active Directory through the network. If I can get a .reg file that just applies this to all users that would be awesome!
