Performance :: Scrolling Through Selection And Drop Down Menus Pop Up When Clicked On
Feb 10, 2016
Ever since I installed 10, I have major issues with scrolling through selection menus and drop down menus pop up when clicked on but immediately disappear. Also on start up, the page that is supposed to roll up to access your login screen won't roll up on it's own...I have to hit f11 to get it to go up.. It is not only in web-based windows on the scroll problem either...it happens in the start menu as well and sometimes there is no response when something is clicked on.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 because there are a handful of upcoming games that I am interested in that are only available from the Windows store (Gears of War, Killer Instinct, and Quantum Break), and I also want to take advantage of dx12 when games start to utilize it. I've read that some people have noticed a minor dip in fps after upgrading, but my experience was so bad I had no choice but to revert back to Windows 7 Ultimate.
Examples:
Rise of the Tomb Raider- Windows 7-max fps-62, min fps-43. Windows 10-max fps-44, min fps-31 Just Cause 3 Windows 7-max fps-54, min fps-30. Windows 10-a consistent 30 fps. Project Cars Windows 7-max fps-118, min fps-88. Windows 10- max fps 88, min fps-73. Mad Max Windows 7-max fps-111, min fps-88. Windows 10- a consistent 60 fps.
As you can see, these represent more than just a "slight drop" in framerate which I was willing to accept.
My PC : i7 4790k 4 ghz cpu gtx 980 ti x 2 SLI 32 gb ddr3 Asus Extreme Motherboard.
I recently upgraded my computer from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and have noticed some issues:
Whenever I stop moving the mouse, the little blue loading circle keeps blinking. Now I don't exactly if it's causing any problems but I'm sure it wasn't doing that before I upgraded and I think it may be related to this second issue:
My touchpad no longer scrolls with two fingers. Now it only scrolls via touching the right side of the pad and dragging my finger up or down. No two finger gestures work anymore.
There seems to be a new driver called Elantech and I've found a settings menu for it but the gesture controls say they're turned on even though they don't work.
Recently my computer has been making my games stutter and lag. This never been a problem as I have 16 GB of RAM and Radeon r9 200 with an AMD 8 core processor. What can I do to fix this inconvenience? I already uninstalled my GPU driver with DDU and reinstalled them. Nothing happened. I noticed this issue the most in Xcom and Bioshock: Infinite
I upgraded to Windows 10 everything seems to run fine but system will not restart from the restart selection on the start menu. Windows update will not reboot automatically either. System looks like it is going to reboot, everything shuts down but as system trys to restart everything freezes. Only way around it is to do a hard shutdown by holding the power button. Updated graphics card, hard drive and bios but still no luck.
I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?
The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN.
Windows icon, search bar, Edge icon which are at bottom left in task bar, when clicked pops up a message saying CRITICAL ERROR, then causes my computer to restart. How do I fix this?
I had the upgrade to windows 10 icon in the bottom of my screen like a lot of others. But when it was time to upgrade I didn't want to because I am a gamer and don't want to upgrade before I know everything is safe (all drivers headset, gpu, mobo everything) but I clicked continue so I could accept all the conditions and such. But now it is going to upgrade automatically....
Win 10 not working. Went to settings to revert to win 8. The settings screen will not pop up other than an instant flash.
Problems with 10- won't let me sign in to outlook (outlook wont respond). wont let me connect a monitor. typing delay. no settings screen. won't let me open downloads from internet. no email unless i sign in from chrome search engine.
The message is not fixed but repeats each time I log in. This problem occurred shortly after upgrading from W7. It then recently corrected itself. Now it is doing it again.
I have installed windows 10. Everything working fine. Just one thing. I cannot open the settings. When I click the settings it just giving a glimpse and then disappears. How do I solve this problem?
When I turn on my pc, the calendar and mail app is visible and pinned in the start menu. I opened Mail app, started using my PC. After a while clicked start menu to open an application and I noticed the calendar and mail app is gone. So I searched both apps and tried to pin it back to the start menu but when I right click, the only option I have is "Unpin from Start" which means it is there but invisible and there pinned location in the Start Menu is blank and there's nothing to click on.
Not sure where to post this, but none of the menu options open. The New Notification panel on the bottom right hand side doesn't open, and neither does the start menu in the bottom left hand side.
I am on an acer aspire laptop, and the brightness setting doesn't adjust anymore either.
I'm playing with the other icons in the bottom left hand corner, and none of them open up or do anything. Wireless icon, sound icon, one drive icon, or the notification icon. Searching the web and windows/Cortana does not do anything either. It doesn't even allow me to type anything.
I have tried restarting (which had to be done through the windows key + x shortcut) and shutting down/waiting/starting up again and neither have worked.
So, I am just now getting around to trying to solve this problem due to the fact that I am needing to use the computer that has this problem at the moment. When ever anything that would put crap in My Documents (I.E. Rockstar) it instead goes to onedrive. The System will not let me change the setting on where documents get saved automatically. when I try to change it the selection box just goes blank. if I try to select "This PC" again it will then show up, however if I go away and come back the setting is back to saying "OneDrive".
Let's say I want to multiple files at once with a specific app. I selected multiple files, and then right click. Where is the open with option? How can I fix this?
I'm using WIn 8.1 as my main OS, but I have the 10 Home preview (Build 10240) on a second hard drive and I'm dual-booting. But there's something strange happening:
- If i set WIndows 10 as the default OS, then the PC boots to the OS selection screen and gives me 30 seconds to pick which one I want to use
- But if I set 8.1 as the default, it boots directly into 8.1 and doesn't let me select the 10 preview.
I'd prefer to have 8.1 as the default, but I don't want to go into BIOS every time I want to switch between them.
This has been happening for the last week. I need to know which update it rode in on so I can remove it. It is very irritating just like the Windows 8 to 8.1 forced update notification.
I have my system set to only notify me about updates, at which time I use the Update Hider diagcab to hide unwanted updates. But this is a new twist, now I am still forced to do updates from this obnoxious notification.
How would I shut this off, I disabled the Forced Windows 8 to 8.1 update notification through Group Policy Editor, would I remove this one the same way?
When it pops up, and it will pop up in the middle of my work, I can't DO anything except to click on it. This is mostly why I stick to Windows 7 because of cack like this.
My assistant in the other room accidentally unplugged the router and I lost connection. I told her to plug back in. I clicked the correct connection when it appeared, but I did it too soon. From that point on, when I clicked the systray icon, nothing happened...no display of available connections. Over and over I tried clicking the systray icon and no window popped up to show available connections. If I hovered over the icon, it did say connections available..
Then I right-clicked and went into the Network & Sharing Center. I could never find where it showed available connections like in Windows 7.
Finally, I had to reboot and I had my connection back.
If this happens again, where can I find available connections so I don't have to reboot? Or even better, is there a way to get the systray icon to again be responsive?
After installing (upgrading) from windows 7, I can see the start menu button. When I click on it, there is no reaction. Also the search button , store button and the calculator button. I already started up the computer many times but that is not working. What to do to fix it?
Since installing Windows 10, I am having a lot of trouble clicking on areas and loading menu options using my mousepad. For example;
- When I go into the start menu, if I go to click on the Power option, it will not load the menu where I can choose to restart, shut down, etc. The menu will flash up for not even half a second and disappear.
- Another example: when signing up for an account on this website, I was prompted to select a photo from a group of photos for validity but when I clicked on a photo it would not acknowledge this. I was also unable to use the mousepad to click on the tick option to confirm I agree to the terms and conditions etc.The mousepad worked fine before I updated to Windows 10.
on previous releases of Windows you could select Fonts for Window titles, menus , toolbars etc.
On two of my monitors the current fonts just look HIDEOUS and there's no way to change them -- worked fine on Windows 7.
This is going to cause BIG problems for some people if we upgrade to W10. They are using laptops - then it's fine if not using an external monitor but when plugged into decent monitors via HDMI is when the problem starts. Applications are fine but the menus / titlebars etc are almost unreadable !!!!!
For instance -- no problem typing this post on to the Forum but looking at the http address or the menu line of the browser is HIDEOUS.
Using latest INTEL HD graphics drivers.
At least on XP --->W8 you could st the individual fonts for system items such as titlebars etc.
I'm running W10 x-64 pro build 10240 (RTM).
This is a BIG showstopper.
Note it's for the WINDOWS SYSTEM stuff I need to change the fonts for -- in things like Word you can change as desired in the APPLICATION area but not the Menu area etc.
For example -- File explorer list --hideously unreadable !!!! However uploading to png you can't see how bad it is !!! but it IS unreadable on the monitor.
