View 6 RepliesI am trying to determine why Firefox takes 20 seconds to open. This does not happen in Safe Mode so presumably another package is causing the delay. Consequently, I wanted to start in diagnostics mode. However, as soon as I click on the button for Diagnostics startup, the blue rotating circle appears next to the mouse pointer and never advances. I checked in Services and found the Diagnostics Host Service is not running and cannot be started.
View 9 RepliesHow can I disable ,,turn on windows security center service'' warning? It shows up every time the system boots...
View 9 RepliesI check and found this annoying code in the Event Viewer. The Event ID code is the same but with different explanation and usually come in group..This happened to me usually after restart....
1. Event ID 7031.... The Sync Host_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
2. Event ID 7031....The Contact Data_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
3. Event ID 7031....The User Data Storage_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
All these are on the Error Level... not warning.
I have found that my CPU usage is running at 30%, due to Service Host: Local System (15). I have the list of the 15 processes, but how do I find which one is using all the power.
View 1 RepliesThe Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
That's the Event Viewer error message at every reboot (appears to occur during the shutdown phase).
There is a concurrent fault listed for the Canon scanner driver, CNC210C.DLL, which is not corrupted.
How can I end memory hogging of System and Anti-malware Service Executable?
View 9 RepliesI just updated to Windows 10. I always run pc tools to keep my pc clean. After i updated my PC to 10 i ran my super anti spy software and all my tools. I mostly just find 50 or 70 things to get rid of all tracking stuff but after 10 i run it and get 2172 tracking cookies . I think its the app store tracking me. Can i find something in settings to turn this off or don't worry about it?
View 11 RepliesMy SUPERAntispyware (free) seems to do a better job than Norton at blocking tracking cookies. It blocked 7 or 8 a day on average on my Win7. It's just stopped 257 that have arrived in the past TWO days on my new Win10. Nearly everyone had the name Microsoft in its title.
(1) Should I just accept that this is now the normal way of life and not get angry with Microsoft for the intrusions?
(2) Does Windows Defenders block tracking cookies? Being cynical, is it programmed to let through all those with Microsoft in its name?
I use IE11 - not Edge
From the moment I switch ON my desktop until switching OFF (working for 12 hours) the local system service host is always between 30% to 40% regarding CPU usage. Why? How to stop it?
This does not happen in my Microsoft Surface Pro machine. Both machines, desktop and Surface have the same software installed so it's hard to believe this CPU usage is software based.
I have set group policy to notify for update and notify for download, so when I manually check for updates, it shows any that are available, however when there are multiple updates available, there is no option to download/install an individual one, it just downloads / installs all of them?
Is there a way around this, as there is no point of the manual setting if it downloads /installs all of them at once anyway?
Windows Photo Viewer - Restore in Windows 10 But I wanted to know if I can try and manually restore it?
If I want to add the registry key myself, how can I do that?
I triggered the manual update through the command line. Win 10 downloaded and failed at 99%. I got this error Code 80240020. How to fix it?
View 1 RepliesI ran a Diagnostic Report from my Norton Internet Security Online antivirus, and its saying that my OS isn't fully patched or updated.
View 4 RepliesI suspect that windows indexing might be causing the short, intermittent freezes that I have been experiencing.I want to test it.I went to services and stopped windows search. But I see that the process SearchIndexer.exe is still running.
View 9 RepliesSince the task Idle Maintenance and Regular Maintenance does not present in Task Scheduler anymore in Windows 10, how to disable automatic maintenance?
View 9 RepliesI use Macrium Reflect for image backup and want to permanently disable system protection. I have used the control panel to turn off system protection several times now but have noticed that for some reason periodically it gets turned back on. I have turned it off and then did a restart and it was still off but then several days later I checked and it was back on so I'm not completely sure what is triggering it to turn back on. Is there any way to turn it off so it doesn't come back on by itself?
View 9 RepliesGot my Windows 10 upgrade from my new HP laptop when it came out late July.(was 8.1 before)
I have a few questions but my main one is:
How do I disable the large black pop up that continually pops up all day even when I am not using the search function? It is on the bottom left and is part of the search function.
I have disabled the Cortana as I never use it and thought the pop up would go away but it keeps popping up but now it is blank with no weather or news.
I would like to carry on using search but do not want this pop up.
True that if one disables System Restore, then an alternate backup software is needed. Yet, I'm wondering if this is something which you recommend if looking for improving SSD performance (exclude the risk of not having a backup)?
The other bit is, though SSD are faster for boot time, with Win10 it takes about 25 seconds from cold boot to be on desktop. In Win8/8.1, it took me 8 seconds with the same Intel 520 240GB SSD. With Hibernate enabled, the boot is faster than 25 seconds but not 8 seconds.
In the diagnostic startup mode there's no search so I can't run msconfig. Is there another way to do run this? I got to where I'm at now by running msconfig, staying on the general tab (not the boot), unchecking normal startup, then checking diagnostic. No matter what I've tried (including combing this forum and searching online) I still can't get out of diagnostic startup. There are other things going on with my PC, such as at least one virus, the Trojan Zeus Banker. I'd like to try a couple of more things before I put my PC in the shop and probably pay mucho dinero.
View 1 RepliesSince the 19th when my computer installed the following updates
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3135173)
Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package (KB3119142)
Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3135782)
it will no longer fully shut down. Having encountered this issue when I first upgraded to 10 I went to turn off hybrid sleep, and the option is currently disabled on the device. However, the only way to fully shut it down is to hold the power button till it shuts off.
Is there any way to fix this? I'd rather not have to unplug everything every time I shut it off just so the lights won't keep me awake.
It works fine in diagnostic mode but full speed in regular windows
View 4 RepliesI've never seen this problem with the previous O.S., Windows 7, but Windows 10 is throwing me this error message approximately 70% of the time when I run the network troubleshooter...either from the Control Panel, or by right clicking on the task bar's connection icon.
Though Win10 is the first O.S. to give me this error, the Microsoft support forums indicate that it's been fairly annoying to Windows 7 users back to 2010. Also, Microsoft support employees just give vague general tips for trying to nail down the cause.
I'm only experiencing this in EDGE. Edge sometimes freezes on a webpage when I'm attempting to post a message to a forum, similar to what I'm doing now. I run the Network Troubleshooter and get the "Native Host Has Stopped..." error. I open a new Edge tab, come to this forum and try to do a search for the answer, but this forum's search function ignores my input. So, I opened IE-11, navigate to Win10 forum, and all works well.
Experienced the "Scripted Diagnostic Native Host has Stopped Working" error when running the network troubleshooter?
I activated the ctrl alt disable login screen for Windows 10 by using this registry key from this forum.(Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums).
I downloaded and installed the key to disable only to find it didn't work so I tried to manually do it by changing the number from 0 to 1 only to find its already at 1.
I also tried going the user passwords2 to find the box to disable ctrl alt disable login is already ticked, but is greyed out meaning I can't untick the box.
