Photos Don't Display Properly?
Aug 26, 2015
After updating to windows 10 my pictures won't always display properly, most of the time there is a piece missing from the top left hand side of each picture viewed, but if I keep clicking the forward and back buttons it sometimes works. The complete picture works fine on my other installed photo imaging program, and complete picture shows if I upload it to the Web or E-mail it - it only happens when viewing photos on the computer itself.

[Desktop Dell Inspiron 560 4gb RAM; high speed cable; MS Windows10

After a long struggle to import my pix from the camera to Win10 and finally succeeding, I've now another mystery
1. How to put the imported 10 or so photos into a folder? I did it with another bunch of imported photos and now I can't remember how I did it though I tried and tried..
2. How can I pick out the ones I want to send (and how to send them by email?) as I prefer not to delete the ones I won't send, to avoid later regrets. I don't even know how to delete any individual photos....
MS keeps everything a secret - no links to choose photos, or delete them, or send them, or change the order in which they are arranged, etc. I had come to learn photos in Win7 with "Photo Gallery" after a long time - now I'm condemned to the same torture on the new windows!

Even if I mark an album, say, 'my documents' as a "documents" type folder in my onedrive online settings, these photos will still be included in my 'photos' tab stream. that and, any photo ever that's on my PC will show up- not just photos in my "my photos" folder on my PC. it's really annoying, i'm getting gamesave pictures, wallpapers, screenshots, and all kinds of random crap that aren't supposed to be part of my camera roll stream all over my one drive... why is it doing this?

When viewing photos stored on OneDrive in the Photos app for Windows 10, is it possible to save it to your PC? I can't seem to see an option to do so...

So I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 last night and so far quite impressed. However it looks like an issue has carried over from Windows 8.1 to 10.
I'm finding that the Photos app cannot see the photos stored on my SD card. I have directed the library to point to the SD card and it is the only location defined in the Library for Photos. This was a problem in 8.1 but as I never used the app I stopped worrying about trying to sort it. However I can see myself using the app in 10, so would like to figure out what is happening.
It's not a case of the app not showing duplicates because I temporarily disabled the option for it to show OneDrive photos and now nothing shows.

When I first recieved my laptop, it was running Windows 7. I did the Windows 10 update, but found the boot time to be slow, so I installed Windows 10 from scratch (well, kind of. I left my Linux partitions [Which I installed long after I got the laptop but before the Windows 10 update] untouched). That's when I first noticed the problem: Whenever I tried to shut the laptop down, it would go through the motions, and then I would be stuck with the laptop monitor turn off but the laptop still running. I can't use fast boot or hibernate at all unless I cancel it out by taking out the power and battery and hold the power button for a minute.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, I remain perplexed about this one issue that is plaguing my system:
Almost every shut down is reported in the Windows 10 Reliability Monitor as the computer was not shut down properly. This happens on both shut downs and restarts using the Start - Power options. The only time this appears not to happen is after a restart after installing updates.
I first saw this after an upgrade install over Windows 7 Pro. I then installed clean using a USB ISO and I ended up with the same thing. I then installed from a Microsoft original Windows 10 Pro DVD and again, ended up with the same thing.
This happens before I install any software at all, including antivirus. The system appears to run fine and there is no error message on the next boot to say that the system was not shut down properly. It is only apparent when checking the Reliability Monitor. It currently has so many failed shut down reports that it is tracking around 1 on the graph since day one.
I ran sfc /scannow and there are no integrity violations. My Device Manager shows no problems. Msconfig shows the system is set to Normal Boot.
I did not use the Mother board CD to install drivers as many of them are outdated and probably incompatible with Windows 10 anyway. I installed the most current drivers on the Asus website. I have the most current driver for my graphics card off the Nvidia website. Same with my Logitech G110 keyboard and R.A.T.5 mouse - the only other items plugged into the PC. I do have the Corsair H100i CPU cooler attached also but I don't think that requires a driver? Anyway, I did install the Corsair Link software and it also made no difference.
I am thinking that this is a hardware issue related to a missing or incompatible driver for the motherboard which is an Asus Hero Maximus VI [ROG]. It can't be a fault with Windows after three install's from different media. It can't be a fault with any software on my system as it happens on a brand new install of Windows.

I have a laptop ASUS Zenbook UX303LN. I made a clean install to Windows 10 and now it doesn't shut down properly.
When I shut it down, the screen goes black, but the power light remains on and I have to shut it down manually. Also, I sometimes cannot restart it when it goes to sleep and I also have to shut it down manually. This doesn't happen everytime, but most of the time. I previously had Windows 8.1 and did not have this problem. Actually, I'm considering changing back.
The OS and drivers are all up to date.
I have research this issue and the most common fixes are: Uncheck the "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"Use a shortcut for "shutdown /s /t 5"
I've tried both and the problem remains.
These are the videos / articles I've found on the subject:

Some weeks ago I converted to win10, I did not like it so I reverted to win 7.I like windows media centre which I use a lot. I also found in win 10 that my home movies which are mod files did not convert properly ie the thumbnails did not show what the content was.The upshot is that I lose on the conversion.I read recently that Msoft are going to force convert in the future and I do not want that to happen. What do I have to do to get them to respect my wishes?

My app licenses aren't synced properly. I bought Tubecast via IAP which isn't being recognized as purchased on my Surface running Windows 10 preview 10049, and now after buying Halo Spartan Strike, shows up on my list of purchased (but not installed) apps, but when I go to install it, only gives me the option of buying it. I haven't read anything about others having this issue, and I only noticed it after updating to this build (TubeCast was unlocked in the last build).

So I have a problem on my laptop that only some programs can use sound, such as, I'm playing a video on YouTube and on volume mixer it shows Google Chrome in my applications and it shows sound is coming from Google Chrome, but if I open a vlc video on the laptop, I can't hear anything from that and it doesn't show on my laptop. Yesterday I was playing a game, then I got a notification, then my sound stopped working.
Speakers 1.png 8.56KB.0 downloads All my applications that had sound was on this page, then next to Speakers/... there was an arrow pointing down, so I clicked on it and then I saw
Speakers 2.png 17.03KB
0 downloads and then all of the sounds that work was on this page.
All of my drivers are up to date and I didn't have any headphones plugged in when I took those screen shots and when I tried testing out the sounds.

So I know that stopping the Cortana process and renaming Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy to Microsoft.Windows. Cortana_ cw5n1h2 txyewy.bak stops it from running, but that prevents me from doing local searches. I tried removing it by running elevated power-shell, but it won't let me. Should I just give up on local searches?

All of a sudden my start button will not respond to the left click. Right click works normally. This seems to be the only problem in the task bar. Is there a win 10 repair disk available? I have just discovered that there are no restore points! What to do?

I have a HP Pavilion 15 laptop that I bought in January this year. I had no problems with this laptop at all until I updated to Windows 10 and still don't for the most part.
When I attempt to shut down, hibernate or sleep my machine it goes to a black screen with the power still on, meaning I hold the power button down myself to switch it off (which is not good for it) or wait until it runs out of battery (also not ideal).

When the popup notifications in Windows 10 show up, such as the auto-play ones when you put in a disk or a USB drive, they don't display the relevant icon, just the colored background box (see pic below). The autoplay itself is fully functional and works fine, it's just the icons. I'm not sure if the problem affects all apps or program that show icons on their notifications, but I'm assuming it does since, the app icons at the bottom of the "Settings -> System -> Notifications and Actions" screen were displayed the same way. I reset windows, and this seemed to fix the icons in that settings screen, but not the notification pop-up icons. In the case of autoplay notifications, it is not dependent on the disk, as it does the same for any disk or drive inserted or mounted.
Some of the things I've tried:
Restarting (obviously)
Creating new user (problem persisted)
Resetting the PC (deleted all files, without cleaning the drive. problem persisted)
I believe the support guy tried doing something with the registry, and he also tried updating my GPU drivers (which were already up to date)

I can't get the desktop to properly size up on my screen. You can notice in the screenshot (in the lower right corner) that part of the taskbar is cut off. I have tried making adjustments via the NVIDIA control panel to no avail.
I'm using a 50" Plasma HDTV and it is hooked up to my PC via HDMI. My previous HDTV was a 42" LCD and I never had a problem with desktop size and position.

Since I updated to Windows 10 websites are not loading properly, but not all the time, sometimes they load as fast and normal than ever and some others they don't load at all and I need to hit refresh like 10 times for them to show up. It doesn't matter what website it is, the problem is with every one of them and also its persistent with every web browser (Edge, FF, Chrome). I have a laptop in my home too and it loads websites as it should be so it's not an internet or modem problem.

So changing the system language should be as easy as settings>region&language>Download the preferred language
Now:
In doing so, my system did change from Russian to English, although not properly. Most objects are English as you'd expect after the change, but some system elements are still Russian. For example, grayed out text in textboxes (The explanation of what you should type) is still Russian. Also, the date & time on the lock screen is still Russian. Also, the "windows is waiting for apps to close" when shutting down, is Russian, both text and buttons. Is this a windows10 flaw?

A month ago when the windows 10 app checked my PC it said that iDisplay wouldn't work properly, but windows 10 could still be installed. But yesterday it had searched my computer again, and this time it said that windows 10 couldn't be installed at all. I have tried to make it search again with CMD and [ schtasks.exe /Run /TN "MicrosoftWindowsApplication ExperienceMicrosoft Compatibility Appraiser" ]. But this doesn't seem to work since it says last run 28th of July. So is there other ways to force the app to run the compatibility check again so i can install Windows 10. Because from what i heard the app only checks once per month. And i have uninstalled iDisplay and otherwise my specs is enough for windows 10.

I just built a new pc. Specs are Asus Z87-Pro Motherboard, Intel i7 4790k, 16gb RAM, 3T seagate HD. Everything has been performing well on my computer except for when it needs to restart. When I go into windows and click shutdown it has no problem but when I click restart it will exit windows and turn off the display but the computer will remain running and will not boot back up.
I have to manually press the power button to turn it off and then press it again to boot it back up. This also happens when it needs to restart from other programs. From what I have found is it may have to be something with bios versions or settings but I honestly have no clue. I have the most recent bios update for my mobo and I haven't found any settings that would fix this in my bios either.

I have an nvidia 860m graphics card (Lenovo Y50 Laptop with an i5 processor) and I cannot launch any games with it. I've uninstalled and re downloaded everything from the drivers to the games. My final conclusion is that something is wrong when my computer tries to use my graphics card, but I don't know how to fix it.
For when I launch Witcher 2, it says "Direct3D 9 device initialization error".For when I launch The Legend of Korra (game) it says "Error : Graphic::Startup() FAILED. No Graphic Memory".I looked at other threads, but I don't know how to reset a graphic card's BIOS.
