I tried to pin a desktop shortcut of msconfig system app as tile to the start metro screen but refuses to pin. It doesn't even exists 'Pin to Start screen' selection when i right click the shortcut. What should i do? I even copied the shortcut to the 'All Apps' folder and appeared on the left to the up and down app list but i can't drag to start screen as tile.
View 9 RepliesI have the very latest Build of Windows 10 Pro, but recently I have experienced problems with my PC’s general performance – I therefore decided to Run msconfig to then uncheck some 3rd party programs under services within the System Configuration Hiding All window services first.
What is happening is that when I disable all and then go about checking the 3rd party progs one by one, the 1st attempt to tick one of the programmes the system config freezes. I have to then reboot the PC but the same thing happens if I try and attempt to do this again.
if I try the same thing but booting within Safe mode the PC does not freeze – so my question is .. can this action only be carried out in Safe mode ??
I have searched the internet for a few days now but cannot come up with an answer to this .. if you are supposed to be able to do this under normal windows start up then I have a big problem with my OS but if this is a procedure that can only be carried out within safe mode then all is well.

Disk 0 : ( C: ) windows 10 pro , upgrade from windows 7 , ( E: ) windows 8.1 pro , ( G: ) Storage partition
Disk 1 : clone of disk 0
problem description : I see in msconfig / boot a wrong listing
windows 10 ( C:WINDOWS) : Current OS ; Default OS
windows 8.1 pro ( H:WINDOWS ) instead of ( E:WINDOWS )
Nevertheless the dual booting works fine as well as the shift between the disks via BIOS.
The question is , could I fix the situation using the EasyBCD of Neosmart Technologies to edit the bootloader ?
I see can change drive letter H: to E: and save the change , am I right or wrong ? or any other way ....
Windows 8.1 had a desktop tile in the start screen. Windows 10 does not appear to have it. Is there a way to get the desktop tile back in windows 10?
View 6 RepliesJust got a brand new dell computer from store with windows 10 factory installed a week ago. Today the computer became non responsive; I had to reboot it. Once rebooted, the <windows>+<D> no longer works, the display has changed similar to windows 8 (?!?!) and I can't get rid of the tiles in the desktop. What has happened? I am very disappointed with windows. I miss my old computer. What a piece of junk windows 10 is.

View 6 RepliesHow can I create a shortcut for My Computer (This PC) on desktop in Windows 10? Actually there are 2 kind of shortcut for My Computer:
1. If I just open File Explorer, from left panel I drag and drop This PC to desktop and a shortcut will be created on desktop (This PC - Shortcut). If I right click on that shortcut and choose Properties, "This PC - Shortcut Properties" windows will be opened, which is NOT what I want.
2. I need This PC shortcut that when I right click on it and choose Properties, "Control PanelSystem and SecuritySystem" is shown! And I don't know how to create this one!
I have upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. When right clicking the desktop I only get the option under the "New" menu to crate a folder, no shortcut.

Right click on desktop/new/shortcut
Create shortcut window opens & I hit the browse button, which then opens a browser window where I can select "This PC" and navigate to C:Program files to select the .exe file.
This procedure worked well for about 20 items or so. Now when I get to the browser window, the only item in the tree is "Desktop/Gary" - Nothing else, so I can't get to C: drive.
In the meantime, I used File Explorer to locate the .exe file & right click/ send to desktop.
I am logged in as Admin. I have "Internet Shortcut" on the desktop. I also have "Details Pane" on. I try to change the description. But system asks for a permission form an local admin which also exists on the same machine?

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently, and I've noticed something strange happening. When I boot up my computer, the desktop looks fine, but after a while, the little arrow overlays at the bottom left corner of the shortcut icons disappear. Sometimes, if left long enough, the overlay will be some weird picture (Instead of an arrow, it will be a batman picture, like from the shortcut to my Batman: Arkham Asylum games, or something else.) When I right-click on the desktop and hit refresh, it reverts back to normal, but I still want to know why it is doing this. My previous OS was Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Bottom left says search the web and windows, but it just shows replies from bing. I cant even find how to do a desktop short cut for google. Desktop shortcut used to be so easy. Is W10 going to turn out to be more difficult to used than 8, or is it really easier once you figure things out?

View 2 RepliesI have seen several threads where people want to remove this feature but in my case it is actually easier to use than scrolling down through 10 to 20 pages of programs listed by letter to get to "X" for "Xcopy+" for example. Is there a way to make a desktop shortcut one-click to access the All-Apps alphabetic 'list-by-letter' menu? If I could, i would make that my default Display option when clicking All Apps in the Start Menu.

WIN 10 On my Surface (SP3), using Logitech K740 illuminated keyboard with Docking station.
No obvious sleep button on the keyboard.

Above message received on trying to put a shortcut on desktop. My disk has many GB of space. Have run Malwarebytes on PC and no virus detected.
