View 2 RepliesHow do I play music through the sound card with Windows 10?
View 2 RepliesWhen i click test sound, then i can hear sound but when im playing music or on youtube the sound doesnt work. The volume is full and my driver is updated. Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI have a slight delay when playing music after I haven't touched my laptop for a few minutes. It's as if the HDD goes to sleep and it has to spin up again before it can play the file. Now I know getting a SSD would solve my problem, but I can't afford that right now.
I have set my Hard drive to never go off in the power settings, but it doesn't solve my problem.
Due to problems with BSOD's in win7 after I started playing World of Warships, I eventually ended up with my laptop not detecting my Nvidia GPU anymore. I recently upgraded to win10 and my Nvidia GPU got detected again.
Some quick computer specs:
Alienware x17 R4
Windows 10 Home-64bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz (8 CPUs)12GB RAM
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 / Nvidia 675M
Sound Blaster Recon 3Di
The Problem:
After I upgraded to Win10 I had the problem of getting BSOD's with multiple causes after playing games using my Nvidia GPU for up to 2 hours. I started updating drivers and changing power settings and eventually it stopped for at least a week.
Sadly, it started again. The BSOD's had multiple causes and names just like in this minidump file linked.
I tried everything, a couple of examples:
- Updating all drivers (Chipsets, wireless, ethernet, GPU)
- Flashing BIOS to the last version possible available on the dell website
- Playing while plugged in and on battery to check a difference there
- Changing stuff in the Nvidia control panel
- Changing stuff in advanced power options
- Updating to all sorts of Nvidia driver version, using clean installs, only Driver + Physx, and using DDU in safe mode
- Probably multiple other things...
The latest thing I did was going back to the specific Intel and Nvidia drivers Dell provide on their website. Also went back to the Sound driver Dell provided (and got the control panel back of it).
But, nothing works. I've been thinking about a possible problem in my power supply... But I can't really find what the correct voltages should be. HWiNFO64 shows 12.6V on my battery, which looks a bit worrysome. But I'm not sure about the voltages of my GPU (I think I saw it avaraging around something of 0.9V or it was 9.x V or something).
I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but in installed Pandora a couple of weeks ago.
Pandora will randomly start playing music. Doesn't matter if the laptop is idle or actively being used, it will start playing.
I've stopped the process multiple times and that hasn't stopped it, even after restarts too.
I have a hp 2000 notebook. but when i try to watch movies the picture freeze. If I want to play music it does not want to open....
View 1 RepliesIt used to only freeze once every few months, but now it seems that it mostly happens when it idles, or when i'm just playing spotify and not doing much. It rarely happens while I game, more when i'm not actually moving the mouse or anything. I have my settings set to never hibernate though, to eliminate that option. When I check my event log, this is my error.
I tried to run a reset of those net.tcp settings in my command line, but the results came up saying I had no user information for such settings. The freeze happens every 20 minutes or so when not pressing anything, or when just sitting watching videos on youtube or listening to spotify.
i noticed that after updating to build 10547 i cant play music and minise the app anymore. this but happened a while ago back on windows 8 and it just went away i think but its very annoying, i have to use vlc to listen to music now and i like groove music
View 3 RepliesAfter upgrading to windows 10, I am facing problem with playing videos. Whenever I try to play videos I get too many "Graphic card has stopped responding" errors. I have downloaded and installed latest AMD driver for windows 10 but still the problem remain unsolved. I think (and hope!) it is software problem because I don't get any errors while playing games like Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition or PES. My laptop is ASUS X550DP(CPU: AMD A10-5750M, GPU: HD 8650M 2GB).
View 1 RepliesNeither ASUS nor Creative Sound audio cards will process "Mic" input from the back panel. I have updated the vendor drivers to Windows 10. I have tried "update," "disable," and "uninstall" approaches in the Device Manager. Audacity doesn't work. I'm trying to copy old LP's and can see that there is some actively in the segmented graphs but no usable throughput to be recorded or listened to in the speakers.
View 1 Repliesafter upgrading from Win 8.1, sound was fine thru laptop speakers/headphones except (so far) for Ashampoo programs and the latest Audacity, which reported they could find no sound card.Programs like VLC, Winamp, Zoom player, convertors from Aiseesoft, Imtoo, Aimersoft etc etc etc were fine.
This is an HPG60 214 EM laptop, using a Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 driver vn 4.0.44.0, dated 2008.An attempt to update shows this is the latest, as do (er hum) a couple of driver update programs.Ashampoo says I need to contact HP, but HP only supported this laptop to Win 7 (it came with Vista).why a few progs don't work and most do would be welcome. I assume this is some sort of low level interface issue which has become apparent in upgrading to Win 10. So far other posts I've found have been about no sound at all after upgrading.
After I upgraded from Win 8.1,
1. Ashampoo programs would not find my (Conexant SmartAudio 221) sound card - Ashampoo looking into this promising a fix after diagnostics - but for weeks now.
2. Audacity would not run beyond v 2.03 (which is reported by others on their forum).
That was 32 bits.
I tried a clean install, 64 bits, and to my surprise, no problem with Ashampoo progs or Audacity 2.1.1.
I'll be using my 32 bit installation whilst I slowly configure the 64 bit version for quite a while.
Other than clean booting, and trying to identify possible conflicts, is there any more specific area I could look at? I have quite a lot of multimedia programs installed.
I've got a problem with my second laptop, acer aspire e15-551P. After I upgraded my windows to 10, voice totally disappeared also sound card cannot be found. Already downloaded and installed all available drivers from acer site. Still doesn't work.
View 6 RepliesAfter the last update on windows 10, sound dont work on my computer... No sound in programs, videos, music or system. Sounds works just in Chrome.
View 6 RepliesWindows 10 Pro is not playing audio at 96k sample rate. I have to lower the sample rate at 44k or 48k for Windows to play audio. When I play audio from my DAW software (Sonar X3) it plays at 96k without problems. Any audio played from windows or internet explorer does not work... My sound card is Motu 24io and used to play audio at 96k without problems on windows 8.1 Pro. There must be some issue with Windows 10 playing at 96k. I was thinking it might be the sound card, however the soundcard is working when I play audio at 96k through other software.
View 3 RepliesI recently updated my Sony VAIO from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For the last week or so, I have found when playing audio (on sites such as YouTube and Soundcloud), the sound cuts out and the stream pauses, and doesn't reload until I refresh the page. This happens several times on a daily basis. Occasionally, the sound cut-out directly leads to 'DPC Watchdog Violation' BSOD.
I am guessing it's my sound driver that's causing the issue? I am not sure though.

I'm running Windows 10 (build 10130) in a virtual machine and I noticed that the startup sound wasn't playing. The box for "Play startup sound" is checked in the Sound control panel, and I even checked imageres.dll to see if the startup sound was still there. (it still is.)
View 9 RepliesI upgraded my HP laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Since then I've noticed a strange problem with the sound. It will cut out without warning--if I'm watching a video on YouTube the sound will cut out midway through but the video keeps playing. Or sometimes the video also freezes. iTunes will not play music or video at all when this happens. Restarting the computer will fix the problem, but it happens almost every day and I'd rather find some way to keep it from happening again.
View 1 RepliesMy laptop does not want to recognise the sound card/audio driver that are built into it. The fun part is this just happened. Audio played yesterday, and the time before that, and even before the upgrade. The only thing that has changed (or at least is the biggest change i can think of) is downloading and installing Cygwin (sans audio packages). In trying to play a song on the new microsoft Groove, i get this;
Further inspection in the playback devices, the only two options are the Speakers/Headphones and communications Headphones, the former of which i can only assume is my actual computer speakers (otherwise its completely gone!).Looking at the device manager, everything seems okay. All the drivers are up to date so im not sure what could be wrong there?
Its Windows 10 pro (upgraded from Win7 Pro) and the computer is a Dell Precision M4600. (I am pretty sure the audio driver is in the device manager image).
I have Realtek HD Audio for my sound, but since a few windows 10 updates ago, my sound goes dead when playing games (League of legends, WoW aswell). I updated to the newest driver version (22 january 2016) for my audio device, but this didn't solve the problem.
To be more clear on the actual problem: My sounds works fine, but after 5 minute ingame, it starts with some "white noice" (this is the most accurate translation i could find, basically the quality becomes really bad and its starts becoming quieter), and after a minute or so, the sound goes totally off. Sometime it comes back (with bad quality) during the game, sometimes it doesn't. After a few minutes when finishing the game, the sound comes back totally fine like nothing happened.
It isn't only the sound of the game itself, all other sounds stop working (like radio on google chrome). When i look at playback devices, it acts as if it plays the sounds correctly (the green beams keep on moving).
OS: Microsoft windows 10 64-bit
I have homebuilt core i7 930 running an asus p5 premium. Whether I use onboard sound (realtek), sound blaster pcix titanium, or sound blaster omni usb, I get strange behavior where the sound will drop out while I'm watching a tv app (hdhomerun, or kodi as well), or listening to music.. at random times, could be 5 minutes, could be 45 minutes. To get the sound back, if I click the speaker icon and click the bar that plays the windows ding, it plays (a little crackly during the first few milliseconds, then clear, like it's waking up) and then sound plays normally until this happens again. So it's propagating through multiple different drivers. I read somewhere that audio devices can sleep (I suppose laptops mainly? Maybe I read it wrong).
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for a program to make speakers not consume power when no audio is playing. Is it possible?
View 5 RepliesI have installed Windows10 on a Gateway FX530 desktop PC. All has gone well with one exception. The OS seems to recognize that there is a card reader attached, I can see them through Device manager. When I insert a SD card the system completely ignores the device and will not allow me to access it. I have tried to change the drivers, without success. This card reader worked just fine with Windows 7 Pro and there was no indication that they would not work with Windows 10 when I ran the upgrade test.
View 2 RepliesI have tried inserting my card into slot, I get message, connect a device and try again.it wont read the card.
View 1 RepliesI have mu music collection on a QNAP NAS. This is mapped as a network drive. I can add this a loacation for Groove to get it's music from but while it accepts this is doesn;t actualkly find any music even though it's there. Odd thing the old 'Music' app did work after the upgrade to 10 but then seemed to stop after the recent update when I think 'Groove' replaced it.I found this on a MS article: If you have music stored on a network or network access storage (NAS) drive:To use a network drive with the Music app:
The drive must be hosted by a Windows operating system. You must have Windows Search and Desktop Experience features installed. You must enable Indexing for the share. If you have to install or enable these features, you may have to rebuild the index for the share to function correctly with the Music app.I don't know if these options are already enabled or how to check..
The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
