I'm using Windows 10 Pro. I've lost the power level (battery) and the sound level control icons. What do I have to do to get them back? When I try to activate them they're grayed out.

(This tool was meant for Windows 7).Not only that, but I can't check the battery levels (using either Windows Mobility options or an external battery monitoring software).Uninstalling the software doesn't revert the battery icon, and I still can't check my battery levels.Is there any way of fixing without reinstalling Windows?
View 1 RepliesI have Win 10 on for several months with almost no problems. Yesterday I had something (?) on the screen and looked away to the TV. When I looked at the screen it was rotated 90 degrees clockwise. My wife did fix that for me. but still have 2 problems. The (Window) on the far left of the task bar will only respond to a right click. Not a big deal but the speaker button on the right side of the task bar does not open the volume slider. Must left click on the speaker and go from there.

View 2 RepliesI am running Windows 10 Pro in a Toshiba Satellite L850-1FR (15.6"), and every time I start my computer I need to change the scaling level as it seems to be 200% by default, but for me 100% is the right level. Any way to change this default option so I don´t have to change it every time I start Windows? I have attached a print screen.
View 3 RepliesSo I just tried out ClassicShell on Win10 and although I didn't like it, it has a nice option which allowed you the control the level of opaque/transparency on the taskbar.
However ClassicShell changes a ton of things that I do not want so I was wondering if it was possible to manually change the opaque level without installing ClassicShell.
Also, is it possible to modify the transparency level of the title bar as well? Glass8 does a nice job of adding TitleBar transparency but it's not transparent enough IMO.
I was able to do this in Win 7 however not having it anymore I can't figure out how I did it. In explorer the library icons on the left pane have the actual folder as a submenu item, that is if you expand a library you have to expand the actual folder to see the subfolders. I want the library icon to be the actual folder, and not have to expand it twice.
View 3 RepliesMy system volume is very high, and 15 seconds later or something close to that the volume goes back up to max. this is really irritating, because when i get a notification or use cortana it hurts my ears, and when i change the volume it goes back up... Need keeping the volume down?

I've been using Line In to listen to my game console audio but sometimes I need to adjust the volume, and I'd rather have a key to do it.
I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 laptop with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 adapter.
Since upgrading to Windows 10, the wifi connection drops out when using battery power and the only way to restore it is to restart the computer using mains power.
"Allow the computer to turn off this device ..... " is unchecked.
I am not the only one with a Dell 7520 laptop running Windows 10 that has this problem.
so i migrated from windows 7 to windows 10.im running windows 10 pro,64 bit,4gb ram on intel i3 processor.in windows 7 when i click on the battery icon i can choose the power plan setting immediately. but in windows 10,when i click the battery icon the power plan option is no longer there.i had to go through advanced power setting to get to the power plan settings.so i wonder is there any way to get the power plan setting to show directly when i click the battery icon?i knew there was a workaround by editing registry and showing it by right clicking on desktop instead but i prefer the old way.
View 1 RepliesNow that I've upgraded to Windows 10, I can no longer manage my slideshows for my desktop.
In Win 7 and Win 8, I could manage whether or not to shuffle my slideshow and whether to pause the slideshow when on battery power. You can see that screen by looking at my tablet, which is still Win 8.1:
Now both options are missing. I found a forum thread on how to fix the shuffle using regedit, but I have found no way to manage the pausing of the slideshow while on battery power. It is currently stuck on pause. How do I get it unstuck?
This only happens when I am on battery power, not when I have my laptop plugged in. When my laptop is plugged in, the slideshow proceeds like it should.
(I really hope they add both those options back to the options screen on the slideshow...)
On battery power, my laptop shuts off with no BSOD after 20 minutes of light use (web browsing). Laptop will not restart on battery power - only when plugged in. When restarted (plugged in) the battery level shows 85%.
Laptop diagnostics say the battery is fine - 99% charge capacity. HP diagnostics say the battery is fine.
HP 455 notebook running windows 10 64 bit. When plugged in, the laptop works perfectly. I see kernel power error event 41 task 63
Updated my wife's laptop with windows 10 and now is missing the battery meter (charging, power left also no warning on screen when low power) going to the notification area properties the option to turn power icon is completely greyed out and unselectable. Fully up to date and have ran a sweep for errors with SFC/scannow and returned no errors.
View 9 Repliesearlier I plugged in the hard drive from my wife's PC into my own PC (both windows 10) so I could try to recover some files from it (as it's currently not booting into windows).
As soon as I booted my PC back up I could see the second hard drive was there but since then I've been experiencing all sorts of issues. I am still an administrator but I just don't seem to be able to do anything - it's hard to describe, but I can't move or change or delete ANY files or folders on my system, I can't move files to or from an external drive for back up, on the desktop the right click menu doesn't come up at all and on files/folders it has no ability to access properties.
Also, whilst most programs still open normally, any Microsoft Office programs just don't do anything at all when clicked on. It's as if I have lost all control over making any changes on my PC.
I assumed that the two drives were conflicting in some way so removed the second drive but the problems are still there.
It seems like, I lost total control to computer since upgrading to windows 10, from 8. no access to C:, or admin rights, many errors like: no indexingwith search No downloading like Skype.

Installed Win10 and have the following problems.
1) I have no sound; Sound icon on task bars says "No audio Output Device Installed." When I run troubleshooter, it says Troubleshooting couldn't detect the problem.
2) Control Panel: When I click on control panel it opens, however, it shuts down in 15 seconds.
I'm not a techno person. Dummy me didn't back up before I installed and now I can kick myself.
I installed an application "Clone File Checker" and uninstalled that using "iObit Uninstaller" with Power Unistall" option. After that, i am not able to open Control Panel, Programs & Features, Power Options and System from the Start Menu. Clicking on each of these gives an error in the enclosed screenshots, but all of them display the error message "This file does not have an program associated with it to perform this action. Please install a program, or if one is already installed, create an association in the Defaults Program Control Panel". Only the file names are different. When I try to set the Default Applications, I do get a similar error message.
Moreover, clicking on the File Explorer from the Start Menu opens the Explorer screen, but when I pin to the Taskbar and subsequently attempt to open tit from Task Bar, I get an error message.
I have 2 monitors on my system. When the system comes up from power saving mode (unsure if in true sleep mode but user password is required) the task bar on the primary monitor is missing. The secondary monitor has it but not primary touch screen. I've tried various things like toggling auto hide, etc, to no avail but restarting brings it back.

View 1 RepliesMy default configuration is powered speakers connected via the optical output on the ZXR. So in control panel, the S/PDIF is my default device. I'd like to be able to also switch to headphones without having to change control panel sound settings. Is there a configuration that enables me to do this? It seems as if I can't have the s/pdif output my default if I want to use headphones. I'm on Windows 10 with latest software updates.I switched to using the analog outs from the ZXR and not taking advantage of the D/A converters built into my powered speakers (Vanatoo). Not the optimal situation, but it allows me to switch from speakers to headphones without having to go through Control Panel gyrations.

View 2 RepliesSince upgrading to win 10, I am having problems with sound not being permanent. Don't quite know how to approach it. This is VIA HD audio on an ECS motherboard. The icon on the taskbar shows that sound is on, and at 75%. But when I test it, there is no sound coming through the speakers. So I uninstall the driver, I scan for hardware changes; it reinstalls itself. Then I check the configuration, it's set to headphones as default. I change it to speakers, test the sound, and it works. Now when I restart my system for some reason, the sound is gone again, and I need to go through the same routine. I have downloaded the specific driver for VIA HD (they only have a driver for Win 8), installed it, and it doesn't work at reboot. make my driver more permanent, so that it's not lost at reboot?
View 2 RepliesI upgraded to Win 10 and when I go to the Control Panel, by default it opens as Large icons. I change it to Category as that is how I want it to open but it keeps on defaulting back to what I don't want.
View 3 RepliesSo after my computer randomly restarting itself my desktop items have gone crazy. The text is miniscule, the alignment is insane and the (for lack of a better word) hitboxes are whacked out like so:
And then I go to access my Control Panel, no luck. Doesn't open.
I then go into Display Settings/Advanced Display Settings try clicking "Advanced sizing of text and other items", again nothing. Doesn't even change screens.
I then go to Windows Update and an update is "Downloading" but stuck at 0% permanently.
*EDIT* I am using bootcamp on a MacBook Pro
