Full story: I turned on my laptop, opened Windows Update, checked for updates. The Fall Update (TH2) appeared and I started downloading it. I downloaded it and now it's been stuck for an hour at 32% at the "Preparing to Install" step. What am I supposed to do?
View 17 RepliesSo earlier today I started to update my Nextbook 8" tablet through windows update. Since it didn't have enough storage to perform the upgrade, I was prompted to use an SD card which I did. The update downloaded fine but now the progress bar has been stuck in the same position for over 2 hours at the "preparing for installation" stage. If I restart the tablet will the upgrade start from scratch?

View 21 RepliesSo I finally made a .iso file for W10 Pro x64 and started installing it. Everything went smoothly my PC restarted 2 times. But when it got to 81% (in total) while "Installing drivers and features" it resterted for the third time and then it started giving me the "Preparing automatic repair" and then "Diagnosing your pc" stuff. I was able to launch the automatic reapair and roll back to W7.

When I try to upgrade Windows 8.1 with Bing tablet to Windows 10 in Windows update i get Error Code 8007003 in preparing to install phase.
When choosing try again it re downloads everything and same error appears.
I tried cleaning Windows Update files and running troubleshooter but it doesn't work.
If I try to upgrade from windows 10 home ISO will my activation be fine.
so im trying to update windows 10, and it keeps on getting stuck on install. i tried many things and left it for over an hour and nothing happens, the only way to stop it is to end it in task manager.

Installing Windows 10 directly on this pc from media creation tool. When it gets to 'searching for updates' it gets stuck a 0%.
View 8 Repliesit was time to format and clean install Windows 10 on my PC.
After I deleted my SSD in partition manager (in the windows 10 installation process) and create all new partition for my new install, I installed my windows 10 x64 Home edition and when everything is installed and computer automaticly restarts it won't go further than loading screen... I was waiting for 20+ minutes and nothing (i have good enought pc that I should not wait that much..)
I tried 2-3 clean installes after that and nothing changed (process of installation is normal but when it comes to loading screen after automatic restart - it s(t)ucks..)
When I try to make automatic repair or something like that it says somethink like this partition is locked and it can be done ..
I built myself a new computer recently and it boots fine if I am booting into the bios. However when booting off my thumbdrive to install windows 10 it boot loops, getting the the windows symbol and then restarting.
My setup specs:

First time running into issues with my SP3. Was able to download the latest build without any issues. Restarted and the overall install is 18% (blue ring has disappeared) and the Copying Files step is stuck on 63%. Been like that for 15-20 minutes or so. Should I wait it out or try to shut my Surface off?
View 5 RepliesI am currently using an asus laptop and running windows 10 build 10074. I keep trying to upgrade to the new 10122 build but every time I get to the installing windows circle. It gets stuck at 19% overall and 64% copying files. I have tried the solution for the surface pro 3 that gets stuck at 18%. I have also contact Microsoft 5 times and they couldn't fix it.
View 3 RepliesI installed Windows 10 fairly quickly on my laptop, and firlgured it'd be just as painfree to do so on my desktop, but the install was stuck at 'Copying files - 48%' for hours. I figured that since it was just copying files, I would just restart the PC and start over, but now my PC does not want to output video. On startup, I don't even see the normal BIOS screen, and there is only HD activity for about a second after I power the PC back on.
View 2 RepliesI've decided to upgrade my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 with the free upgrade. Unfortunately, it has been stuck "Checking for Updates" for the last 30-45 minutes. Is this normal? I've updated two laptops, one Windows 7 Home and one Windows 8 and it didn't take nearly this long. I'm afraid I'm stuck in some kind of loop.

View 9 RepliesI currently have Win10 32bit. I made a bootable USB and DVD to upgrade to the 64bit version, both yield the same results. Each time I try to perform a clean install, it just hangs at the blue windows logo, no spinning circle just the logo. I let it sit for about 4 hours and nothing changes. I've tried many methods but none seem to work.

I recently tried to fresh install Windows 10. I ended up getting stuck in a install loop with the error INCOMPATIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE so I tried to use a USB instead. This resulted in an error saying my USB was formatted in NTFS instead of Fats32 (even though I had just formatted it to be fats32).
My first question would be how to fix this error? Now, while trying to download Windows, I accidentally deleted my Linux partition (woops). My second question is to just delete all partitions on my hard drive and restart from scratch? I'm attempting this on a Lenovo Ideapad y510p.
Recently I got a new gaming PC which came with windows 7. The day after i upgraded to windows 10 and it was working fine. Yesterday i was using my PC and then the task bar disappeared so i decided to restart the computer to try and fix it. When the computer turned on again it went through the normal startup process but when it got to the windows logo it said preparing automatic install and then kept looping through startup and the windows logo. I have tried doing the system repair but when I press F8 nothing happens, so right now all i can do on the computer now is access the BIOS.

View 2 RepliesI have only one account with administrative privileges. However, at reboot, Windows 10 starts fresh. It says preparing system.
There are some programs I installed which remain, however, don't save settings. For instance, Mozilla Firefox won't stay default browser, it won't save my homepage, addons won't save. It's similar with other programs.
It seems like Windows just doesn't save settings but loads fresh at ever startup.
I have tried changing the boot order and using a disc and a USB drive to get Windows to reinstall but it isn't working.
View 1 RepliesI have had this loop for 4-5 hours now, and I have not found any fix for it. I am using build 10240. I have tried reverting back to windows 7, and that failed. Tried start-up repair, that failed. Tried system restore and image recovery, those failed too. Even resetting my pc has failed. I have tried cmd commands, and those also failed. I have upgraded to windows 10 via online from Windows 7, and I do not have a disk or another computer to work with. Nothing has even caused this issue. I just booted my pc like any other day and I was sent into this loop. I have a Gigabyte USB 3.0 powered motherboard.
View 9 RepliesI purchased a hp pavilion laptop a few months ago with Windows 10 pre-installed.
I haven't used it for a few days, turned it on this evening and I got a message on boot up saying
"preparing automatic repairs" and then my screen goes blank 3-5 seconds later.
I do not have a cursor and have tried various keys and different ways of trying to bring up some kind of option. I also tried plugging my laptop into my TV to see if it were perhaps the screen that was going wrong.
I've been trying to update to the latest build for some time now, I'm currently on 9926. The update downloads fine and it also goes through the process of installation fine, up until it's time to restart the computer for the final step, that's where the problem begins. It gets stuck on a boot up loop, it loads to the windows logo and says preparing automatic repair and restarts the computer again and again with the "preparing automatic repair" message. I made an installation disc for 9926 so that's how I'm able to reset the computer but I've also made one for the latest build but I still get the same boot up loop problem. I really want to be on the latest build and I'm worried that I won't even be able to install the official release.
View 1 RepliesI am upgrading a computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I completed the download, and got a message that the computer needed to restart to continue the installation. However, when I restart and the computer comes back up, the same message appears and the installation does not progress. When I go to check Windows updates in the control panel, it says it can't check for updates because another installation is in progress. I have restarted the machine multiple times with no progress - can't go forward, can't go back.
