I was wondering how to keep my laptop from going to sleep when it's plugged in. I have all the settings set to "never" but it still goes to sleep after ten-fifteen minutes. For what it's worth, it's a Dell laptop...

I have hybrid sleep off. Whenever I try to wake it up, it doesn't respond to any of keys except for the power button. That leads me to thinking it's been shut down, crashed, or is in a deep sleep. I don't think it has crashed.
Do I need to disable hibernation? If so, how do I turn it off permanently?
My computer will go to sleep after 30 minutes, as scheduled, but only if I have not signed in to my user account. Once I sign in, it will not automatically sleep, and the monitor will not dim.
What processes are likely to be interfering with sleep? I can put it into sleep manually, and it will stay asleep. but it won't do so automatically, if I am signed in.
I set monitor to turn off after 15 minutes and computer to sleep after 3 hours, none of that works unless i disconnect game controller, than it works perfectly. is there any way to solve this or i just to wait for microsoft to release some kind of update?
View 1 Repliesi had my HP Pavilion dv6 7050ca laptop for 3 years now and it was working perfectly until today...I put in my battery (I usually only run my laptop with power cable without battery) and unplugged it to go downstairs to work. After I was done, i put it to sleep, brought it back upstairs and replugged in everything (headset, mouse) including the power cable and once I woke up the laptop, it became insanely stuttery, from the windows 10 interface to the mouse cursor to games to web browsing to everything! Everything still opens fast but it is just the movement of things: mouse cursor, gaming, web browsing, videos, etc. I already tried shutting down and taking out the battery and running it with only power cable like I used to, reinstalling graphics drivers, restarting the computer, unplugging nd re plugging, nothing seems to be working!

I assume there is some driver that I'm forgetting to download that is related to the battery or something?
I have an HP 8540 laptop. I have the power settings set to high performance and all the options to go to sleep when plugged in are set to off/no.
HOWEVER, it keeps going to sleep even when things like a download is running. There r a few things like my 3D printer program that will keep it awake. I did however have it go to sleep a couple of times during a print and I changed something (I forgot what it was) and it stopped doing that but not for other things and not in general. When plugged in I do not want it to go to sleep unless I press my power button. I don't have a sleep button, but that is also set to no sleep.
It does not go to sleep if I am actively using the mouse and/or kbd. I had HP power assist running but I shut that down and it still goes to sleep. Everything is up to date.
I recently upgraded to win10 (yay), which caused a slight issue for my laptop. When I let it enter sleep mode, it would automatically wake up once every few hours or so for "important activities" or something along those lines. I did a google search and managed to find a solution via command prompt.
All was good until I recently noticed that my laptop has stopped going into hibernation/sleep properly. As far as I can work out, when the laptop is set to sleep (through power button settings, windows menu or hotkeys), it goes into sleep mode but then switched off the power supply.
At night I use my laptop, then put it to sleep -- either choosing Sleep option in power off menu, or closing laptop lid. Did this for +2 years in 8.1 without issues.
Now with 10 installed, I notice in the morning when I get up, that the lights on my laptop are all on, and it is warm to the touch. I've verified that when I put the computer down at night, it DOES go to sleep. But by morning, it is back on and out of sleep mode.
I have an Asus Ultrabook, UX302L. It came with windows 8 from the factory, I upgraded it to windows 10, all nice and wonderful. About a month ago, I replaced my HDD with an Samsung 850 Evo SSD and I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 which I activated with my windows 8 key. All good till here. But after that my nightmare started:
I can't put my laptop to sleep, because when I try to wake it up it restarts instead, and I lose all my documents, programs started before, etc.
I tried to install a older Intel Management Engine because I found out that the last one is buggy (and it is, I can't even put my computer to hubernate with it, the fans just keep running till it drains my battery, but with the IME 9ish at least hibernation work), I tried to disable fast boot, to install an older version of the integrated intel graphics card driver, tried to put my HDD's to never sleep, disabled hybrid sleep, set the AHCI link power management to HIMP/DIMP, etc.....
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 on it. When it goes into sleep mode, if I swipe the touch pad within a few seconds it will come out of sleep mode. However if I'm not at the computer so that it is in sleep mode for a while, then when I swipe the touch to pad wake it up sometimes it will wake up but sometimes it won't. If it won't wake up then I have to use the power switch to shut it off and reboot it.
View 5 RepliesI had recently performed a clean reinstall when I upgraded my laptop to a Samsung 850 Evo, and ever since then I've had problems with sleep. If I initiate sleep, hibernation, or shutdown then the screen goes black but the status LEDs stay on. punching all the buttons do NOTHING, with my only recourse being to press the power button until the lights go out. After which the system acts as if I woke from hibernation as normal. Restarts are unaffected, which is a good thing as having to force-restart my laptop every week will get old fast.I believe I have installed all needed drivers, and Device Manager does not show anything missing.
View 1 RepliesRecently, whenever I wake my laptop up from sleep (from closing the lid and then opening it again), sometimes I get a BSOD.
I think it started when I updated the Intel graphics driver, so I've booted into safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and I still get an issue.
I've attached the debug files, there was a previous BSOD a few months ago that I was getting due to a Nvidia driver issue, but I downgraded to an earlier version and it's stopped it, so I don't think the issue is there.
When I close the lid of my laptop, put it into sleep mode, or put it into hibernation mode, the laptop basically shuts down. The power light flashes on and off, but when I reopen the lid or press the power button to turn it back on, the screen flashes grey and reboots.
What I have tried:
Changing all of the advanced power options
Resetting my laptop (to before the issue started occurring)
Restoring my laptop to factory settings
Redownloading windows 10
Disabling the UEFI (BIOS) setting that allows the computer to be turned off to save power
Updating the drivers that were suggested on the windows eight forums
Downloading the chipset driver from Asus
Downloading the ACHI Link Power Management and trying all the settings
What I've done in the command prompt:sfc /scannow then Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.I also tried the chkdsk command but there were no problems found
When I started noticing the problem:After I downloaded VMware's player and created a virtual computer with Ubunt
Whenever I close my laptop lid to put Windows 10 to sleep, it won't turn off properly - the computer continues to run, as indicated by the power button and the three lights on the side of the laptop, but I'm stuck on a black screen and the only way to get out of it is holding the power button and turning it off completely. Anyway to fix this?
View 1 RepliesAfter updating to Windows 10 Pro recently I get a lot of BSOD's (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). Mostly when my laptop wakes up from a well deserved moment of sleep. Also I noticed that sometimes the laptop awakens from sleep when I didn't ask it to wake up.

I recently installed Ubuntu onto my computer. After installing it, when my laptop goes to sleep (using Windows 10), it never really wakes up. All it does is flicker different colors. For now, I've worked around it by setting "close lid" to simply do nothing and the power button is set to hibernate; I just removed the option of sleeping.

About 3 months ago, I upgraded my ASUS GL551JM Laptop to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. Now, whenever I close my laptop lid, or put my laptop to sleep using the "Zz" key on my keyboard, it restarts when I try to wake it up. All my unsaved work would be gone. I don't even get a restart prompt.
When I used to run Windows 8.1, I could just normally close the laptop lid, and open it without fearing that my laptop would restart.
I have a very annoying problem with my laptop (asus G751-JT) where if I click sleep on start menu,press the on button(not hold just press so it goes to sleep),or even close the lid,it will automatically shut down.
View 1 RepliesJust installed Win10 on my 4 yr old HP G60535D. Now I have have to re-boot everytime I shut the lid. Played around with power settings, etc etc but no luck. When I first open the lid, I can hear the computer running, a slight mechanical burp of some sort, then nothing... totally blank screen. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off, then re-boot. A 1st world problem for sure, but kind of irritating.

My laptop goes to sleep and never wakes up without having to force a restart. I have changed the settings so it will never sleep or turn off the display, but, it goes to sleep anyway
So, I don't know how to fix it, and I need to know how. I turn my back for 5 minutes, and all my unsaved work is lost cause I have to force a shutdown. The computer goes to sleep, I press the on button, the computer starts doing its usual hum, the number lock light turns on, and nothing else happens.
How can I fix the sleep function for an HP laptop using Windows 10? After it goes into sleep mode, it won't wake-up. Have to cold boot to restart.
