View 4 RepliesMy neice had a virus which I successfully cleaned out, but now every time I start up the laptop I get an error message that it couldn't load "C:Usersher nameAppDataLocalCall KitCallKit.dll" and I am having a real trial with attempting t identify what program is calling for the absent .dll file.
View 4 Repliesi have this problem since a long time ago , and i can't seem to figure out how to fix it!
i am sick of this file, the option of "Open file location" is grayed out for it !
Used to be able to do this in Win 7 by putting the shortcut in the startup folder. How is this done in Win 10
View 4 RepliesNoticed this under my startup programs but it does not show to be running. Should I remove it or what?

I want a program to start automatically on windows startup, Nothing needs to be done on the program I just want it to open up, can't see anything on the program's settings suggesting there is a way.
On task manager under the start up tab it says that it is enabled, although I have never seen it active even on the active programs list, I can't disable it either.
The program is Gigabyte OC Guru and I'm running windows 10. It's not urgent, just want it to start so the led on my gpu is the right colour.
I'm trying to get a program to autolaunch when I start the computer.
Previously, I used Task Scheduler, but it does not seem to work. I suspect UAC is making this hard for me. I have it set to default.
How can I make a random program run at startup without issues?
Since there is no START folder, how do you set up an exe file to run whenever windows 10 starts?
View 3 RepliesI need Windows 10 to boot directly to a program. Whatever I try .vbs, .bat or just shortcut in Startup folder, it always starts minimized to task bar. When I click on the task bar it gets blown up full screen.
Once I turn off the Tablet mode it starts good, maximized.
How can I solve this so it boot in Tablet mode AND start the program in proper size?
NOTE: I use touch screen but I dont think it maters.
Start up after installing Windows 10 and the final loading of start ups hangs up on NEC SpectraView II my monitor software color calibration as it continues to loop.
View 1 RepliesEvery time im trying to open a folder on my PC Im getting this message:
"This file does not have a program associated . Please install a program or , if one is already installed , create an association in the Default Programs control panel "
The only way to open the folder is to use right mouse button click and choose open, very annoying to work like this. The only strange thing I see is that when I klick right mousebutton on top it seems windows wants to open my folder with "cmd"...

I'm trying to create a batch file that should
- call another batch file
- start a program and then wait for the program to close
- call another batch file
My goal with this is to work around an issue in Windows 10 where the screensaver won't work when I have my game controllers connected. I already created two batch files where one of them enables my game controllers and the other one disables them. Both these batch files work just fine.
However I now want to create a third batch file that will do what listed above - first call the batch file that will enable my game controllers, then start my program which is an executable and then after I exited out of the program the batch file that will disable my game controllers should be called.
Here's what I've tried but this doesn't work, it will only run the first batch file enabling my game controllers.
Code:
"c:utilGame controllers - Enable.cmd"start "P:Program Files (x86)Lockheed MartinPrepar3D v2Prepar3D.exe""c:utilGame controllers - Disable.cmd"
if it is possible to change a open with option back to unknown application on some files. i accidentally clicked open with the picture opener and its stuck on it now. how can i revert this?
View 9 RepliesI have Windows 10 64-bit, I did a clean install on a new build (SSD). I would use the Windows "move" application feature and the default download location option but Microsoft greyed out the option on the final release of Windows and nobody knows when the feature will be back.
So should I change this stuff in regedit, using this method* or what should I do?

It's extremely difficult to assign default programs (either no option for "default" or it just doesn't take my choice) for different media, but once assigned, Win10 later forgets the default program and opens it with another.I have assigned all audio file types (mp3, wav, m3u etc.) to open with Winamp. I've done this by manually assigning a default program for every single file type in "Control Panel - Default Programs - Associate a file type...", because every other option failed.
Later, after a reboot, it still shows "Winamp" in the list of file types. But Win10 now opens m3u-files with VLC player! I'm going hardcore, with registry keys etc - only need the info. some file types are not listed under "Control Panel - Default Programs - Associate a file type...". How can i assign these missing file types to a program?
I've been running Windows 10 since last August, after upgrading from Win 8.1 on my Asus laptop.
I use the taskbar (launchbar?) to start my favourite programs, such as Excel, and some 8-10 files are stacked on the icon so I can right-click the icon and select/open my desired file.
That was until approximately 10 days ago, when clicking on a file name only opened Excel, and I have to do a file/open within Excel to get the file I want open. Other programs that are also on the bar e.g. my PDF program, still opens the file name I click on.
is there a way to recover all my default program settings? I have made some mistakes and some settings arent working any moren

I am trying to run a batch file with these contents:
Code:
ECHO OFFTIMEOUT /T 2 /NOBREAKDisplaySwitch.exe /internalTIMEOUT /T 2 /NOBREAKDisplaySwitch.exe /external
I've tried putting a shortcut to it in the startup folder, putting the bat itself in the startup folder, and running it as a task using task scheduler. I also have UAC completely disabled. It runs fine when I run it myself, but it won't run at startup. How can I get to run when I start the computer?
I recently installed the November update on my computer and now the File Explorer runs at every start up. How can I go disable this and go back to normal?
View 1 RepliesI now have issues with Windows 10 starting up. I've tried using the win 7 disc to do a repair but it's hard to tell if it's done anything. All I have right now is a mouse cursor and a black screen and because it was win 10 I have no disc for it. Just older versions on my flash drive but I can't seem to access it.
View 7 RepliesIn Windows 7 I could specify the start folder for Explorer by entering its path in the Target field of the Properties/Shortcut. This is now not possible as this filed is now grey (= read only) and cannot be modified.
View 2 RepliesThis one is aggravating. File Explorer keeps loading at startup. The client can't say for certain if the issue was present before or after upgrading from Win7. This wasn't the primary issue- there was malware present on the system. I have run Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller, Rogue Killer, and aswMBR scanner. System is returning clean logs now.
I also installed Revo Uninstaller and removed Adobe Acrobat DC and CutePDF, as I've read that Adobe will cause this issue, and since there were 2 PDF viewers install I suspected some conflict.
I have tried using regedit, but the two suggestions I found from Microsoft- the reg entries don't exist for win10
till yesterday everything was ok but today suddenly when I start windows File explorer open automatically without any command, I did restart system thrice but same was happening.
How do I remove this auto open of file explorer when I start windows.
I have three entries (among others) that are slated to startup when I logon. Each of them are featured twice in the start up tab of program manager.
On checking with autoruns I found that they occurred twice in the registry under
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
and
HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun 14-12-2015 02:23
Is this normal?
My laptop is running windows 10 64 bit.

View 7 RepliesAt the first after I upgraded my notebook from windows 8 to windows 10, I just realize that 1 of my 3 user account is not exist anymore (the Guest account is not there just after I upgrade it into windows 10). As I tried to make the new Guest account and still didnt work (I dont want to follow such a complex email registration required by windows 10 to make a new user account), I thought to delete my secondary user account. However, I just realize that there is a file that I saved in the Desktop under my secondary user account. Is there a way to restore this desktop file that is saved in my deleted user account?
I have opened C:Users but I cant find the folder with the name of my deleted user account. It's very important yet big file (around 2 GB).
