Some of my program shortcuts have changed to white file icon pictures. the shortcut still works just fine but they just missing the icon... when i load a new icon in the place of the old one i get a little shield on half the icon... Ive had this problem before with one shortcut but now it some how fixed it self.
When I open anything in Windows 10 the program window is a bright blinding white. I tried the Settings and the color option in there but it didn't work, neither did adjusting the brightness. How do you change the color on the program windows?
So when i play music on Spotify while playing a game, my volume randomly goes up and down, It only stops if i mute all of the sounds of the game, i've looked and looked in all the settings, changed the communications tab to "do nothing" and it still wants to change my volume.
When I upgraded to windows 10, all the icon images of my pictures are now a white slide with a blue mountain-like thing on it. I can't tell what I am looking at without opening them up. I use to be able to know what they all were before I opened them.
I have installed Win 10 from scratch (no update). I have 3 monitors. I have created a theme with a different background image on each monitor. After a random time, the three images are suddenly mixed up, image 1 appears on monitor 2 or three, etc. When I click on another theme and then on my own theme, the images are restored to the correct monitor.
My PC is part of a domain. Some buttons on the themes page that I had in win 8.1 are now gone, so I am unable to select things like slideshow etc. In fact, beneath the window with the themes, I have no buttons at all.
Some settings in the registry that I can use in order to prohibit the changing of the backgrounds? I tried Group Policy but that didn't work out.
I have windows 10 home operating system on my laptop.I have a problem with my file folder. when I first open it it shows that it works fine. However I've notice that on the left I see the OS and D drive as white icons. When i access any folders and then go back to the home file page it looks like this: and when i access other files they show empty folders (this is the program files folders)but i know this folders have files in them. Also when I access them i see white icons like this:I can open them and they work fine but my file folder is acting weird.

I have Windows 10 64-bit, I did a clean install on a new build (SSD). I would use the Windows "move" application feature and the default download location option but Microsoft greyed out the option on the final release of Windows and nobody knows when the feature will be back.
So should I change this stuff in regedit, using this method* or what should I do?
In my windows 10 start menu all my installed programs give a white paper (with curled right corner) icon. There are a few that give the original icon but most of them do not. I tried a new clean install but that didn't work.
I also tried:
-SFC scannow gedaan met deze opdracht: sfc /scannow (heeft niets opgelost) -DISM gedaan met deze opdracht: dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -Delete imoage cach -Rebuild image cach -Used another account -In the start menu folders the icons are as they should be
I even installed classic shell for a while and the the icons are normal! So I think there is something wrong with my start menu. I tried everything I could think of but nothings works. It's annoying to see the wrong icons although when I click them de app opens normally.
About a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:
I'm trying to find a way to change my Recycle bin icon to a Mac Pro, because, well, I can. I know you can do it on OS X, but I haven't found a way in Windows.
Shortcuts used to be indicated by a fairly unobtrusive arrow in the corner. A few days ago they changed to an overly visible white arrow in a green circle in the lower middle of the program icon. Then they changed to a gray X in the corner. Now they're back to the arrow in the green circle.
I want to start using my start menu, but I don't remember how to add icons back. I tried to just drag them but that doesn't work. Also, they just all disappeared randomly. Not sure why. [URL] ...
For about 3 weeks now my desktop icons randomly change size, location and sometimes even disappear and reappear.I can find no apparent reason for this. Nothing in my logs, firewall or network monitor that seems to correspond.
I was wondering if its possible to change somehow the firefox and spotify icons to match those of the default windows task bar icons so it looks more uniform? in linux changing icons is easy as pie...is it possible for windows?
Each and every time I boot up 2 of my computers, the desktop icon font color is black. I have to manually change them to white. I have tried looking on Google, tried resolving the problem myself to no avail. So,
Acer Aspire XC603G Desktop and Acer Aspire 5749 Laptop.
So I've got some pinned icons on my Win 10 taskbar, such as Chrome, Notepad++, file explorer etc.
I go to change the Chrome icon and it doesn't change on the taskbar like it did with W7. But sometime later, unsure when, could have been after a restart or after waking up from sleep or just a time period later, it finally changed to the icon that I'd chosen.
I did this to file explorer as well and some time later it finally changed to the icon that I've chosen for it.
1. Why is there this delay? 2. What if anything can I do to avoid the delay and get the icons to change immediately as they did with Windows 7?
So as many people may agree, the icons in Windows 10 look absolutely hideous.I have found an Icon pack I would like to use & I have successfully changed Icons such as Recycle Bin, My PC, My Network but when it comes to the Documents, Movies, Pictures, Download folders they simply won't change.
Is there something that needs to be done in addition other than right clicking the folder I wish to change - customise - choose file 'select icon'
I have Windows 10 since launch and I have all updated installed. I have my recycle bin in bottom right hand corner but if I restart the PC or refresh the desktop, it will go to the left side. This didnt happen in Win 7 and at some point in Win 10 I was able to move them anywhere without it resetting the positions. So what do I need to change for it not lose the positions?
I wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.
I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.
E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).
I tried the registry fix that worked last time on Windows 7 to fix this issue of custom icons not automatically changing, but apparently it cropped up again in Windows 10, and is also not fixable via adding the ",0" to the end of the registry entry.
Would it be possible to get copies of the cool icons you use on your Windows TenForums tutorial pages? Example: the disk drive with the reverse circle for system restore.
I have just plugged in a second monitor to my PC, the resolution of both monitors are as recommended (1) is 1366 x 768 and the other (2) which is the main display is 1920 x 1080 - I would like to increase the size of the font, task bar icons etc on my main display (2) but when I go to the "advanced sizing of text and other items" and then to the "Change only the text size" I cannot select specific items as this part is grayed out and I cant click on it. Could it be because I am trying to change something on the (2) monitor (even though it is ticked as my main display)?
I have used the usual route to changing a default icon in "Properties" for internet shortcut(s). However, changing one file icon strangely does not change all the rest. Is this a bug? Is there a workround?
