RSAT Won't Install
Aug 20, 2015
So RSAT was finally released to us today and I downloaded with haste. I ran the install, which finished quite quickly but the "Remoter Server Administration Tools" Section wasn't there in the Windows Features selection window. So I rebooted, still nothing. So I went to try and uninstall the update and it didn't show up in the list of installed updates. So I ran the update again, this time launching the MSU from an app with administrative rights, just in case. Again it installs very quickly, too quickly but still nothing.
So I did upgrade from Win 8.1 Ent to Win 10 Ent. I did have the RSAT tools installed on Win 8.1.

New build. From a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys
I've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software. I always get the same behavior:
The screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self. Even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
I've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
I've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
I've tweaked once the tdr delay to 8 second, but didn't work.

I have tried everything I can think of, including the stand-alone ZA uninstall, however the Win 10 installer is detecting *something* and refusing to proceed until ZA is uninstalled:
Some Apps need t be uninstalled
These programs need to be uninstalled because they aren't compatible with the upgrade.

I'm about to build my first desktop, and I have a laptop with Windows 10 (upgraded from 7 which it came with). I don't plan on using the laptop anymore, so is it possible to install the laptop's hard drive into the desktop then move the Windows install to an SSD? If not, should I just buy a Win10 key or would it be possible to contact Microsoft about transferring the OS over?

My computer is trying to install Update to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586, but can't. It claims there is no system reserved partition, but there is. This computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and immediately after doing that I installed a Samsung SSD and migrated the system to it using the software that came with the SSD. The migration went well and I've been using Windows 10 for months.
All of a sudden, when trying to do some updates it claims it cannot update the system reserved partition. The partition is there, it's 100MB in size. So I tried booting from the install CD, which I burned to do the upgrade (so I know it's a good disc). My computer recognizes there's a disc in the DVD drive, but no matter how I set the bios boot order it will not boot from the DVD, so I can't do a repair on the SSD.

I bought the usb version since i don't have an optical drive bay. The problem: I can start the setup, but when i launch the installation my pc suddenly restarts and boots the usb again, so i get back at the 32/64 bit selection screen. This happens when i click "next" after choosing my drive (see included video). The drive i'm using is a Samsung 850 EVO SSD.
I have tried numerous things to fix it including: removing the ram (2x8GB) and putting it back, trying with one ram stick, removing the graphics card and use the integrated graphics card, use different usb ports, use different sata ports, removing the hdd (i can't even start the setup with the hdd plugged in).
I also downloaded Windows 10 from the official website and put it on an other usb stick, the same problem occurs.I even tried with Ubuntu and the same problem happens!! When i launch the installation my pc reboots and the setup restarts!I have made a video showing what happens (win 10): I also made a video that shows my BIOS.Everything looks fine... but it doesn't work!!

I have an app that worked fine in Windows 7, but will not install on Windows 10. It installed fine on my friend's Windows 10 machine. It just seems to hang on install. I do have admin rights to my computer too, so it shouldn't be that.

Basically, I got fed up with the daily problems from doing an "upgrade" from Win8.1 to Win10TP 32-bit and decided to install afresh from the latest ISO. Since I have a 64-bit processor and 8GB of memory (now) I thought I'd try the 64-bit version.
Booted from the USB stick, chose Install, clicked next, saw the drive with the formatted NTFS primary partition (empty) for Win10 and select that ...
And got the dreaded "we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. See the setup log files".
OK...
So, I removed the partition, leaving an unallocated drive, and using the "New" icon, created a new one. That appeared to go OK. Selected it -- and got the same error message again!
Went through the same stuff with the 32-bit version -- same sequence, same error messages.
So, I have two questions:
1) When you're in the installer, how do you look at the setup log files to see the detail messages?
2) What is the "secret" to installing Win10 on an SSD? (Note, I had Win8 install just fine to this same SSD (Crucial 120GB) and move Win8.1 to a larger SSD when I bought a new one. So, I know this SSD works OK.
I ran into this same bunch of problems with the original Win10TP install -- which is why I ended up cloning Win8.1 to this SSD and then doing an "upgrade". But this time, I want to do a clean install...

I made an ISO from a 10532 upgrade to install it on to another pc and here is what happens. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. OK, so I change my disk to MBR and get the same problem only this time it tells me the selected disk is of the MBR style. Either way it won't install. What do I do now???? ?

I have had no success in installing Windows 10 as an upgrade to Windows 7 on my newly built system. What I intend to do tomorrow is to install from the OEM disk which I just purchased for $117.14 from A...... I may return the Windows 7 disc ($61) for refund if it is successful. If not the Windows 10 disc goes back for refund and I will keep Windows 7. Yes, they will issue full refund and free return shipping no questions asked. That is an additional $56.14 to acquire Windows 10 (including a disc) but worth it to me I'd cross my fingers but those from my planet only have one digit per limb.

I try to install a clean Win 10 Home 64bit from a USB-stick. When I point to the partition where I want to install Windows I get the following error message: ' Cannot install Windows on that disk. The selected disk has GPT-partition mode'. Do I have to convert that drive to MBR, if so how can I do that?

I reserved my upgrade which is now telling me that the upgrade is available, i enter the 'OK, let's continue' area and get the 'working on it' screen and it stays there for a long time and goes nowhere, Is this because I have previously downloaded an ISO file and transferred to my laptop to evaluate Win 10 and now my desktop will not load the software even though it is saying the download is complete.

I have a windows 7pro system that I have used for about 3 years. A fairly substantial mix of software installed over time has predictably slowed down performance enough that a clean OS install is in order. I also have a SSD I would like to install as the primary C drive as well as the update to windows 10.
There are two ways to go about this, and am not sure which is the most reliable or cleanest way.
a) I can install the SSD then reinstall win7, and 3 years worth of OS patches. Wait around until Microsoft notifies me of availability of windows 10, install windows 10 and then install all the application software.
b) I could upgrade to windows 10 get a license key(?). Then install the SSD, next reinstall windows 10 and finally all the application software.

I have a new 250gb SSD I want to do a fresh install on Windows 10 on. However I've already upgraded to Windows 10. I've downloaded a fresh Windows 10 installation onto a USB for the new install using the Media Creation Tool.
Is all I need to do just boot from the USB and install onto the new disk, or will it ask me for a product key etc? cause I stupidly have Windows 10 N currently, but the version on the USB boot is just plain 10.
