View 1 RepliesMy windows 10 left click menu doesn't bring up the menu tray anymore since after I shut down my system using the alt+f4 combination keys. Likewise, neither the running apps tray nor the network one opens up on left click. I also cannot multitask anymore as I can only open one folder, seeing as the non functionality of the left click options limits my ability to. I've had these exact issues before which forced me to reinstall the OS from scratch. But I can't always install the software as it requires time and some backing up.
View 9 RepliesI went threw all the options I could find. I want the viewer to show pictures like I have them in folder groups not by the date they where downloaded or taking. Is there a way? Its either collection or albums but both are by dates and that not what I want. If not then I will just delete it from the menu.
View 4 RepliesI occasionally (but frequently enough that it is noticeable) get an unresponsive start menu. When this happens Win+P for display switching also does not work. The start menu starts working after a reboot and only after a reboot. Obviously this gets annoying because of all the windows I have to reopen. What I've tried when the start menu stops working:
1. sfc /scannow - this doesn't show any errors
2. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} - the process finishes but the start menu doesn't start working anyway
I really hate restarting the PC when this happens.
On Dec 14th a W10 updated (critical update) was implemented.
On Dec 15th I received a "Critical Update. Your Start Menu is not working .... etc. We'll try and fix at next reboot"
I've been on various forums, reloaded in "Safe Mode", etc but the problem still exists.
So I generally like the W10 start menu with the exception of the alphabet soup in my all apps listings. It's making it look very cluttered and actually disorganized even though everything is obviously listed alphabetically.
Is there a way to turn off the alphabet letters and just list everything that I have in there alphabetically without needing to show me
A
B
C
D
E
etc...
??
This is on a custom-built machine upgraded from 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro. See screenshot. Left my computer idle for a while. Came back to that on the start screen. This also happened last night under the same seemingly random conditions. Unsure of what caused it, but logging out and back in made the icons reappear. While they were invisible, they were still clickable and functional.
View 2 RepliesI just performed a fresh install of Windows 10 10049 on my Surface Pro 3 and now the Start menu/screen does not show when I press the Start button. Looking for regedit to re enable the menu. The problem existed on 10041 but was working initially after the install completed but stopped working shortly afterwards.
View 5 RepliesCurrently Windows 10 isn't showing apps that I already installed, for example, If I type Audacity or Sony Vegas, nothing appears. I have to manually go to the files directory and run the application or make a desktop shortcut (which i dislike) any way to fix?
View 1 RepliesAs per the image below - why are many of my apps not showing their icons? There's not options to change them and I've tried pinning the original .exe and shortcuts to the app but there is no difference.
View 4 RepliesWhen I sleep or lock my computer and then wake it up the start menu is always open.
View 7 RepliesI have installed Aome hdd manager on my W10 PC and laptop. On the PCs it appears in the start menu and also as an icon in the start menu.
But on the laptop it is not showing, have uninstalled and reinstalled and created a shortcut from the installed .exe file then chose pin to start menu, but still nothing ...
When I turn on my PC, it starts up but I just get a black screen with the circular arrow. It adds one dot about every 15 minutes. I select start>power>re-start and everything comes up fine. It is slower than Windows 7, which is annoying, but not nearly as much as having to reboot every time.
View 2 Repliesre customizing windows desktop themes no options showing
I go to personalization and see the choice of themes but cant see the small pane at the bottom of the screen which gives options for delay between images fit etc etc..
I have a Seagate SATA 500GB HD as a second HD. Windows 10 deletes the letter of the drive every time I reboot/turn off my PC, and I have to reassign the drive letter. Why is this happening and how to fix it?
View 1 RepliesI have apps installed from the Microsoft store on my laptop but they don't show up on the start menu to be able to pin to the start menu. They also don't show up under the "All Apps" area. Is there a way to force apps to show up so that I can pin them to the start menu?
Twice now I've had pinned apps disappear from my start menu - for example, I pinned a game & the notepad to the start menu. Then when going back to the start menu later, they're gone. I have repinned them in a different spot on the start menu & they seem to be staying now - is this normal?
I went through the install process of Windows 10. It installed, and then asked to restart. I allowed it to restart then nothing changed once it came back from a reboot. Still Windows 8. No popup showing install is continuing. Nothing.
View 1 Replies-Fresh windows 10 install.
View 2 RepliesMy Start Screen very weird recently. I can't drag icon app to Start, I can't drag to organize app on Start, when I right click on app, only "More" appears, other options just gone,
View 5 RepliesI have an HP Laptop. I have the Insyde H20 bios. My bios menu does not have the option of overclocking CPU ( even though my CPU does to 3.9Ghz ( i7-3940XM Extreme Edition))
My bios menu does not have he option of increased video sharing (Video Memory).
My bios menu does not allow my ram to run at higher ram speeds.
My bios's version is HP's F3.A
Are there any UNLOCKED HP or ANY bios menus with that have these options for the insyde h20 bios?
I cannot get to the advanced boot options menu that I could with windows 7 by hitting the f8 key. You know the menu that has safe mode with Command prompt safe mode with network support startup repair and Just regular safe mode. Use some of those features but I can't get to them the f8 does not work anymore.
View 1 RepliesI've upgraded from Windows 8.1 (x64) and I wanted to change my start menu tiles since I had a start menu as opposed to the start screen. Naturally, I tried right-clicking the tiles that were present and unpinning them from the start menu, but the option doesn't show up! If I try and right-click shortcuts, executable files, or menu items for programs the option to pin the item to the start menu doesn't show up.
I can pin things to my taskbar easily, but I can't pin it to start at all! I'm currently running Windows 10 Build 10240 on a 64-bit Intel i7-4500U (Dual-Core) @ 2Ghz with 8GB RAM and Intel Integrated GPU.
I am trying to find a way to remove context menu options from Windows, options that I am never ever going to use. For example, I can right-click on the desktop, navigate to Graphics options > Resolution, and I am greeted with this:
View 1 RepliesI have installed win10 on to my Brothers PC and kept getting the message `Inaccessible Boot Device` and was caught in a loop. I then downloaded the iso file on to a disc and re-installed successfully from there. However when we switch on the PC I get a screen which shows two boxes, One reads Win10 and the other Windows. When I click on Win10 the OS loads. How do I remove the other box?. I have installed Win10 on two other PC`s and have not seen this screen before.
View 3 RepliesWhenever I log-in from hibernate or boot, the start interface shows. I had this enabled in Windows 8.1 (start screen), but now I'm on 10 (no start screen) and it still shows.
There is no option to disable it. Is there a registry key to disable this?
P.S. My start screen is normal, not full screen.
After installing windows 10 build, I see a boot selection menu each time I reboot your PC. When I get to this screen, if I do nothing it will automatically boot to the Windows 10 Technical Preview within 30 seconds by default. Why is it happening.
