I want to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10 but I make use of VPN service and from time to time the connection do have drops and Windows 7 supports the re-connect option but I cannot find any info on Windows 10. This will decide it for me if I will go to 10 or not.
Ever since I installed windows 10 on my surface pro 3 the batter life dropped from 5-6 hrs 1 - 2 hrs I did a clean install 3 times but this doesn't work. The tackpad has an issue too. I turned off the allow right click but it doesn't work.t I tried going back to windows 8.1, but they some how block user to download apps from store I always get an error "this app wasn't installed" I tried all possible solutions but no luck. The onenote app for windows 10 sucks too I hate windows 10 . always put on battery saver even on 100% charge. And the Cortana is disabled too
My Dell XPS 8900 worked perfectly fine for several hours, but now won't let me connect to the Internet. Another computer in the same room gets online without a problem, using the *same* internet cable.
I also get error messages on the Dell when trying to use system restore, and when trying to reset the computer. (I thought if I just started over it might fix it.)
There is an icon on the screen lower right of a little monitor, with red X over it. When I click that it tells me "no connections are available." I've unplugged and replugged everything (modem, router, computer) and nothing has worked. I have Windows 10. Anything I should do?
So recently I've been having this issue where my mouse keeps disconnecting and reconnecting for about a second randomly. It doesn't happen too often, but it's enough to be annoying. I'm currently using the Logitech g100s with the Logitech gaming software installed, but even without the software it still randomly disconnects. I have a feeling it might be the mouse cord because I've been using the mouse for about a year and a half and it could be wearing down, but I can't really test this assumption out because I don't have any other mouse to use. Plugging it into other USB ports doesn't resolve the issue either.
I have a problem with my internet connection. First, I've tried a PCI Wi-Fi card and a repeater and nothing change.
My computer have a problem with the internet connection. When I play games like Counter-Strike, I'm spiking and I have some rollback every 5s. Here's a picture of my internet connection in the task manager:
As you can see, I'm spiking alot. Sometimes, my PC disconnect from the router (even when it's wired).
What I tried: - Recovery - Flush DNS - Renew IP - Uninstall/Install network drivers and adapter - Uninstall/Install general drivers
And... nothing worked, except one thing: Fix network connection issues - Windows Support
Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter. Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
It's working for like 30 minutes and then I'm spiking and lagging again. I suppose it's a DNS/IP problem. I need to do it again every time I want to play 30 minutes.
PS: When I'm browsing on chrome, I don't see the spike effects, only when I play or skype.
Something strange is happening to my surface pro 3 running windows 10 Pro 64bit. At first, I was trying to surf on the net and received something like server connections timed out. I then checked on my wifi status by hovering my mouse over the wifi icon at the system tray and it said "internet access". This is usually a good sign. But still unable to load any external pages on the firefox browser.
I then had to run the diagnosis over the wifi network and the wifi came back alive. By the way, by disconnecting and reconnecting the wifi wouldn't fix the internet connection issue.
After 3 minutes or so, the internet was down again. I had to run diagnosis over the wifi network and it worked again.
After this, I tried to check to see if there was any updates that I need to install. I found that it's in the middle of downloading "upgrade to windows 10 pro, version 1511, 10586". This is the latest major upgrade from Microsoft.
By now, I kinda got tired of running diagnosis on the wifi network. I got to hook it up with the ethernet wire connection. Now, I can access the Internet and the windows update started downloading without any interruption. But I can't rely on the ethernet cable for the stable internet connection.
My question is would this wifi dropout issue be caused by this windows update download. By the way, I have also disabled Hyper-V on this machine.
Its a common issue, but a long time ago I have fixed this issue but i forgot how. I have already tried all the fixes I could find on the internet. I disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on every port, I also went to power settings and disabled use selective suspend setting on EVERY POWER PROFILE.
And i also updated the usb 3.0 extensible drivers and the intel series 8 intel chipset drivers. but everytime i plug my external HDD to my new laptop the first 3.0 port sometimes just keep connecting and disconnecting instantly, and on the second port it connects and stay connected but if i move a big file it will start flickering on and off ( small files i can move) and yes i know about the radiation that 3.0 devices output and i have moved the drive away from the laptop. last step is to disable wifi and try again.didnt work.
I know this has to do with virtual desktops... but it's super obnoxious. Is there a way to get rid of it? I don't really need or want multiple desktops anyway, and it's irritating that it shows a little green bar under every program even when I only have one desktop...
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just an issue affect my PC, but every icon on my desktop has a square-shaped line on the bottom left. In the attached image, you can see Steam games, but it affects other shortcuts as well (I just tested with Word, for example). Is this known? If so, any possible solutions?
what ive in the past is got a 3.5mm jack from my gaming monitors headphone port and then ran it into my line in on my mother board and it had sound playing through my pc's headphones..just moved into a new office and pluged everything back where it used to be and now ive got no sound coming through the line in.
my settings URL...when i go into recording devices and make some sound on the console there is nothing shown as coming through?
Whenever I run a Windows 10 specific app, such as Edge, Store, Weather, etc, It opens properly, but the icon on the taskbar is simply a square with a line under it if it is active and only the line shows when it is inactive. If I pin a Windows 10 app to the taskbar, there is no icon at all. All other programs have the proper icon in the taskbar. Is there a way to get the Windows app icons to show in the taskbar?
For some unknown reason I cannot any more navigate to Update panel from "Einstellungen" - it is blocked.
I have to cancel the "Einstellungen" window by the task manager !
So in this moment I cant go forward nor backward any more: cant activate Win 10 neither start the restore of my old Win 7 system - unbelievable !!!!!!
Question: is there a professional command that I can enter in the command line to start/complete the restore of Win 7 ?
I am frustrated by this dilemma of Win 10 Update. The update od the Defender library also doesnt work and stops after several minutes complaining about the network. Browsing works of course. Windows Firewall is deactivated. No Antimalware program installed.
I installed an extra HDD, but after that every time I boot up I have this black screen with blinking cursor line for ages before Windows start. I actually counted how many times it blinks .....178 times.
I checked in the bios settings to see if it is set to start with the correct HDD, and it is.
Somehow, I tripped something that adds an extra line to the Sender line in my Microsoft Outlook in Windows 10(formerly Hotmail). Now I get TWO indications of who the sender is, instead of just one. The extra sender line is in smaller font, and appears just above the “normal” sender name. The “Junk” page doesn’t have this doubling up feature. I’ve gone through every settings and option feature, and none of them even mention it. how to get rid of the additional sender line?
I want to know how can I make a line break in Word universal app (on Windows 10) ? When I press return key, that makes a new paragraph (skip a line).
Usually , with the classic Word (desktop), we can press SHIFT + ENTER return to the next line but that is not working on Word Mobile universal app. How can we do that ?
My mouse is rather fokked, but in quite a subtle way; you see, since yesterday-ish, myself/my computer just can not figure out how to mouse. I like to play games, but this oh-so-subtle fokkery has got me on the ropes in terms of not losing my mind midprocess. Attached is a picture of 6 lines drawn from right to left in as straight a fashion as I could manage; from top to bottom: top is 500x:500y dpi, 1700x1700, 2700x2700, 3300x3300 dpi plus a bonus at 3300x3300, and an extra on a different surface at my typical navigation settings of 2700x2700. My mouse is a Cyber Snipa Silencer, ( Cyber Snipa - Silencer Gaming Mouse )
Now friends, my question is... Why has this fokkery occurred? I haven't changed my mouse-surface equipment for years. No updates have been installed to my knowledge. restarted my computer, still fokkery.
P.S. here is another picture of 6 lines, same parameters, but drawn from top to bottom, left (500x500) to right (2 sets 3300x3300 then 2700x2700 different surface.)
I use Adobe After Effects, which I often need to run multiple copies of using the -m switch. Windows 7 let me modify the shortcut in the start menu so it'd start with this switch, which if AE is already running means it'll launch a new instance of it, rather than switching to the instance I've already got open. However, in Win10 I can't find any way to do this - it has the same behaviour that launching AE from the task bar in Win7 did, ie it just switches to the already open instance. Is there a way to add the switch I need?
Just dragged it onto the desktop as a shortcut, and interestingly there's no option to add the switch there either (in Properties)..
EDIT: I can create a shortcut with the switch in Program Files (or presumably elsewhere on the C drive), but right-clicking and choosing "Pin to Start" seems to remove that switch. It opens a second copy when I launch the shortcut from Program Files, but not from Start.
The red line says something like "Some settings are handled by the company/organization".Which company or organization? If I were at work I'd be thinking about some LDAP setting and it would be all right, but here I'm at home, I have a very straightforward network and configuration.I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to recall this red text line wasn't there after the fresh install I did some weeks ago.
Still I can't think of anything that I tweaked that might have affected that. The only thing I changed is in the windows hidden advanced settings, where I chose so that Windows Update doesn't automatically download/install stuff, but asks for my permission first.
When my computer wakes from sleep mode an annoying black icon which looks like a "sleeping eye" with a line through it appears at the bottom of my screen. How do I get rid of it???
