View 5 RepliesI'm getting this error: ... when I try to open any picture (jpeg, gif).
I have followed different forum topics for solutions and so far I:
- Double checked that RPC service is running & on automatic. RPC Locator is not started & on manual
- Previously had some issues with opencl.dll being corrupted, but following Kyhi's suggestions here: Error DISM restorehealth - Windows 10 Forums
.. I managed to fix it (as you can see from the screenshot, the sfc shows no errors anymore)
In the event viewer I get these:
Activation of app Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.

... when I try to open a jpeg file.
I installed windows 10 about a week back and although its been having a lot of freezes, its otherwise run pretty smoothly, except for today. I haven't had this issue before today but now whenever I go to open a photo using the normal windows photo app i get an error saying "the remote procedure call failed" and it won't open.

View 1 RepliesI have a new installed Win 10. I wish to be able to connect remotely to my computer via VPN.
I created vpn connection in Win 10, but it will refuse connection with the following error message:
"The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server might be unreachable...." etc.
What are the required steps to enable my computer be reached remotely via VPN?
Nine times out of ten the shutdown procedure on the recently installed Windows 10 O/S hangs on shutdown. The only way I can close down the system, after a suitable pause, is to turn off the current, which doesn't seem to do any harm as the system restarts normally the next time I boot it up, but it irritates me considerably.
I am running an HP Z230 tower PC with an Intel i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 990 GB hard disk and a 64bit O/S.
Is it possible to invoke the file history backup procedure for a certain time? I'd like to be able to configure it to backup over night only (i.e. at 2am) - but I can't find a way to be able to set it to certain time.
View 1 RepliesI was wondering, could we expect from Microsoft to see anything like synchronizing GSM SMS and calls from our phones( for example Win Phone 10, but also and other mobile platforms) with new Windows 10.
Something like features that is available in OSX Yosemite. For example I'm working on Windows 10 on my PC, and someone calls me on my phone and I don't want to get up to reach my phone, instead I just answer from my PC, also for SMS.
I'm very excited for new Microsoft campaign about Windows 10 and all innovation, but I thing that this would be significant omission since they stand out Continuum.
How see call history in Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesWhen I join a skype call, GTA V always goes extremely quiet, so I either increase the volume of my pc so gta is audible and skype deafens me, or I increase gta's volume and still can't hear it. Is there any way to keep gta's volume the same when in a skype call?

I have installed Windows 10 64 bit (Direct X 12 included) in my PC and when I try to run COD 4, it gives an error message - "The application was unable to start correctly (0x000007b). Click OK to close the application.
I have searched in google, there are many tweaks I tried but no result.
I installed it on my Windows XP laptop and it ran but I wasn't able to play because my laptop is old with very old integrated graphics.
Spec - i5 6500, Intel HD 530, 8 GB DDR4.
Ok so i upgraded to Win10 and so far i love it, BUT i keep getting this crash more and more often so my start menu, cortana all stop working it even keeps me from opening any program or even answer a call on skype hell if even crashes my damn task manager THEN it crashes and says CRITICAL_ PROCESS_ DIED.
View 1 RepliesI recently updated to windows 10. I play WoW often and lately when I get a skype call with the game on everything freezes then screen goes black. It's recovered once but typically requires me manually shutting the laptop down. It's an HP and came with 8.1. I bought it new and have had it under a year.
Wanted to add that I can usually hear sound for a while after the screen has gone black. I even continued a skype call for about 3 minutes until the sound cut out too.
Any image that I try to open on my computer will not open and I get the error "The data area passed to a system call is too small" what that means. I had a chat session with Microsoft to no avail.
View 1 RepliesUsing Windows 10 on both PC's.
I have managed to get PC 'A' to remotely connect to PC 'B' but cannot connect 'B' to 'A'.
Both PC's allow remote access.
I used the Win 10 Remote Desktop App.
Win 10 computer can see the XP machine and access shared files, like wise from the XP machine. I can remote control the XP computer using Desktop Connection, it works great. What I cannot do is remote control the Win 10 computer from the XP. File sharing and network discovery is setup on both. The network was established before Win 10, as the group is WORKGROUP. Too many devices to go through and change over to HomeGroup.
The XP computer is the professional version with Remote Desktop installed. I do not get any numerical error msgs to track down the problem. I have tried using the IP address and computer name but neither work.
Since I upgraded to 10, I can not connect to my virtualbox remote consoles like in win 7/8.1. Have Win 10 on two system and they act the same. I can rdp from Win 7 to the Win 10.
View -1 RepliesI have a windows 8 computer plugged in my tv and it has a microsoft account.I try to connect remotely from a windows 10 machine. I cant seem to enter the right user name. I have set up the tv computer to allow remote desktop and it works great with the local user i created, but with it doesn't work with the microsoft account. The name of the pc plugged into the tv is called TV.I also added the user into the remote settings.
Weird is that it works with the local account. How to do this with a microsoft account?
I am currently using Windows 10 Pro. My query is, when during the remote access session, why the background screen goes black?

When I go to Settings/Devices/Add printer my printer attached to the remote computer shows up. When I click on the printer I get a window that says "That didn't work". We can't install this printer right now. Try again later or contact your network administrator." How to handle this??
