I am trying to find a way to remove context menu options from Windows, options that I am never ever going to use. For example, I can right-click on the desktop, navigate to Graphics options > Resolution, and I am greeted with this:
Today I got an update, and I noticed afterwards that the Windows 10 context menu when you right click the desktop went back to the old version and not the Windows 10 version. Also, the context menu for right clicking in the taskbar turned black in the background. Not sure what changed and how to make things the way I remember.
i got a new hard drive and installed it few days ago and when i boot up, it asks me every time, which OS i want to boot up. This gets annoying since I only have 1 and I can't find the boot.ini anywhere and websites don't specify how to remove an OS from the boot up screen.
I see people wanting to add stuff to the right click, I'd like to remove some stuff. When you pop up the right click menu, for some folders it's HUGE, and it makes it difficult to find the stuff you'd actually want to use.
pintostartscreen - I'd like this gone from the Recycle Bin. I keep hitting it when emptying, it's just annoying.
Scan with Windows Defender - I'd like this gone everywhere.
Include in Library - Ditto for this one, don't use it.
Cast to Device - Yep, useless to me as well.
Shared Folder Synchronization - Never use it, be gone!
Is there some 3rd party utility to manage all these additions?
There are also applications that stick extra stuff in there that I never need, it would be great to manage those as well.
After disabling and uninstalling Cortana, Edge and others as well as Search I ended up with 2 dead icons in the All apps menu one for Search and one for Edge. When I drag the Search icon to the desktop it's named as:
@{Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_1.4.8.176_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewyms-resource--Microsoft.Windows.Cortana-resources-TileDisplayName} but not sure I want to start deleting various reg entries where this shows. I also tried in all the usual places where the shortcuts are supposed to be but nothing worked and the icons are still there so how they can be removed if at all. It's more of a cosmetic problem as I have no issues with Windows otherwise...
It's a simple question, with probably a more complicated answer: How do I remove these two buttons, as I think they are ugly as OS X (ok, maybe not that ugly)?
When I right click on something to get the context menu, it sometimes works and sometimes does not.
Here are three images showing how it appears. As you can see, there is a completely variable response as to what appears. I am using the standard Windows 10 theme in a completely fresh install (not an upgrade) on a new hard disk.
I just upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10 and everything went very smoothly on the outside but I'm finding some hiccups as I go along. When I right click the start menus I do get the context menu with all the shortcuts to various apps. But when I click on, say for instance, Control Panel, instead of going to "Control Panel" I get a dialog box opening saying "Express Zip Free Version" This free version of Express Zip is licensed for non-commercial use only; Please confirm that:" then there are two options to click on and I'll only include the first one for sake of brevity, "Certify that this program is for non-commercial use only". Why in the name of all that is good does this dialog open and not a program from the context menu?
How to make context menu on the right to be like the context menu on the left?the distance between top and bottom text on the left context menu is a little bit far apart.
After updating to Windows 10, I find that the Preview button in the context menu is no longer visible as it once was in 8(.1). Is there a way to re-enable this? I mainly open my image files using something like Paint.Net and I also need to view previews of images when I program as well.
In Windows 10 build 10586 ContextMenu (right-click on start menu items) is changed and is divided to 2 parts as seen below (Menu >). Is a way to get back the build 10240 behavior and show a single menu?
The desktop context menu, Explorer context menu, and Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edger are the main ones but I want to be able to modify the rest to. I'm assuming you can't add/take away everything you want but I could really benefit from fine tuning it.
Is there a way of re-eabling this: [URL] .... kind menu in OneNote in Windows 10? It isn't showing anywhere for me and the app lacks most of the functionality it had in Win 8(.1) without it..
I'm running Windows 10 x64.. with very little installed outside of Office 2013 and Visual Studio 2015.
Every once in awhile I run into a situation where my right clicks no longer result in a context menu being visible.. at least mostly.. particularly when you right click the desktop and parts of the start menu/taskbar..
I reinstalled windows 10 on my laptop and after that the pin/unpin options is missing from the context menu (right click) to pin/unpin tiles from the startmenu.
I finished upgrading my laptop to Window 10 Pro and I got Microsoft Money Sunset and Frontpage 2003 working. So I am happy.
An old problem came back, after a shutdown, the system "resumes" instead of starting without the option of allowing me to get into the bios. I had a fix for that for Windows 8.1 but when I tried that for Windows 10, let just say I was glad I had created a restore point.
So if your are listening Brink will you be updating your registry fix for Windows 10?
I see an article to remove the 'Include in Library' context menu item but it is for Windows 7: [URL] Can the same registry keys be used in Windows 10? If not, how can I achieve the same in Windows 10?
after upgrading to new version of office (from 2013 to 2016) i have no new excel worksheet in new(folder) of context menu.I followed Shaun s tutorial for removing and reinstating New context menu New context menu - Add or Remove in Windows 10..I have also noticed that some programs report that i have more items in the new context menu than i really have! Is this normal?
i noticed like 2 updates ago that the new context menu size increased so much. now i have to scroll to see the bottom just to see proprieties and rename. its annoying id like the old context menu, is there a way to get the old menu back?
