Removing Outlook Account From Windows
Jan 13, 2016
So i reset my PC and upgraded to Windows 10. I didn't have a password or any microsoft account link to the PC (besides login on websites.) I restarted my PC today and was prompt to type in a password. The username was my brothers email address. i couldn't log in any other way and there is only one account on the PC. He some how added his account to the PC after using the PC to control his Xbox ONE to watch netflix (he lost his controller) now i cant remove the account.

I'm running windows 10 pro free upgrade, I stupidly created a Microsoft account to install an app 'remote desktop' it changed my login to an email address, that messed up all my network logons, and I don't want an email logon, I hate it. I want a normal name login. I forever connect to remote servers and cant mess around trying to connect!
How can I remove the Microsoft account login, its taken over my prime login with all my applications, I cant seem to delete it, I deleted my Microsoft account and now cant change the password on it!
I don't mind hacking the registry. I just need it gone. otherwise its a start again windows 7 installation.

I have an Outlook email account, when I view by emails from a laptop with windows 10 installed I cannot view any sent, deleted, saved emails older than about 2/3 weeks old. However if I logon to my email account via a laptop that does not have windows 10 installed I can see all my saved emails etc so I know they have not been deleted entirely.

I upgraded my wife's Surface 3 to W10 on Friday and the good thing is that now I can add her iCloud account to the People App.
I logged into her Outlook.com account on the web and deleted all of her contacts to avoid duplicates, but all contacts in the W10 People App still show as having a "linked" Outlook entry.
Although I can manually go into each one and unlink the accounts, then delete the Outlook.com entry, how can get it to do a re-scan so it knows they have been deleted?
I can't remove the Outlook account from the People App as that's the one she signs in with and there is now option to delete it anyway.

Then I used that to connect the onedrive. Then when I rebooted, I realised I had forgotten to write down the password. This means I cannot log into windows with my user id. I've tried calling, and the automated password reset website, but because I hadn't actually sent any emails or created any folders, I cannot recover my login. I'm losing 5 years of personal pictures, wedding pictures, music, podcasts, books... it is terrible and I haven't been able to sleep since I did it.

I have deleted and recreated the *.ost file several times and it still asks for the password several times and then comes up with the following message. "Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:UsersEdAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlooksundancer245_hotmail1.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)." I have no problem accessing this account in FireFox and none of my other Hotmail and Outlook accounts are causing this problem in Outlook 2010. I am running Windows 10 on this computer and on my Wife's Tablet and I can access the Problematic Hotmail account from the Tablet and also from my new Lumia 950XL windows Phone 10.

I added both my outlook e-mail account and my gmail account on the windows 10 mail app...The problem i noticed is that when you a delete an e-mail on the app (from either the outlook account or the gmail account) it doesn't also delete it from the actual outlook or gmail account. I know that because if i log directly into the web versions of those accounts, that the messages i deleted are still there.
Do they get deleted after a certain period of time? I thought this was supposed to get synched to the account so that they work together...
Also, i don't always seem to get the notifications from the "action center" on windows 10, even though i have it set in the settings of each account to notify me and play the sound...

- I am using some email accounts from the same Internet service provider
- the accounts are configured apparently with the same settings
- one accounts gets through and works correctly, reading and sending emails
- the other accounts don't read, nor send
+ wrong accounts keep asking to "correct account", because "outlook mail settings of account aren't updated"
+ this happens both in Win10 Desktop and mobile.
+ the "correction" asks the password, then does nothing
+ the issue repeats at every sync, with no sync

Okay, when I set up my computer (W10 Pro preinstall / Surface Pro 4) Windows put in my private address which is also my Microsoft user account - "myname@lastname.org" - as an Outlook account. It happens to be hosed in a Google Apps for Organizations account, so it runs best when the settings are for gmail. I added my personal gmail account, this apps account, and my business account to Mail.
Now I need to delete that fake outlook account, but the option to delete the account doesn't exist. It's just an annoyance in Mail as I can hide it by turning the sync off, but it's causing problems in Calendar because it always inserts itself as the default account and, unless I manually change the account every time, my calendar events get hidden and lost to the void that this account is.

New to PCs in general. Bit of back info - built a PC a month ago. Have had a few set backs with drivers and BIOS update, but it seems everything is stable for now.
I signed into my Xbox Live account about a week ago, which is linked to my hotmail/outlook account Ive had for ages. This automatically linked to my PC user account I have on this PC. I found out by rebooting, login screen shows my name as usual, but now underneath shows my email. It also changed my login password to my outlook password. Is this something to be concerned about? I can still login fine, but been nagging me because Ive never had a login password automatically switch on me before.

Not sure if I've set something up wrong, but when I delete mail from outlook on my WM10 phone, it removes it from my gmail account as well. but when I delete mail from mail app on my PC it only removes the copy on my PC.
Also when I delete gmail mail through web, the mail is deleted from my phone, but not my PC app.

I have Outlook 2010 on two PCs and use the Hotmail Connector to synchronise my contacts with my Microsoft Account (people.live.com).
I can create/delete contacts on any PC and at the web page at people.live.com and these will synchronise across all accounts. However, if I change details of an existing contact on the PC e.g. change the phone number) then this is not synchronised. If I change the details on the web page at people.live.com then the PCs do get updated. How to troubleshoot this problem to ensure that changes to contact details in Outlook 2010 are synchronised correctly across all accounts?

When I open File Explorer there are a number of items listed in the left pane. Is there a way to remove some of them that I do not use like Videos and Music? Also at the bottom, after Network is Homegroup. I do not use Homegroup. Can I delete it from this list? I have other computers that do not list Homegroup so why does this one list it?

I removed the Windows Apps (3D Builder, Groovy etc.) using PowerShell and Remove-AppxPackage / Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage on our Windows 10 machines (64bit, some Home, some Pro) at home.
This worked satisfying enough, but for some (very few) local users the start menu entries for those apps are not removed. I refer to "All Apps" (the A-Z list of all apps).
Situation is like this: application is removed (checked with Get-Appxpackage in Powershell)start menu still refers to the Windows Apps with the text entry; it does not show the icon, but a coloured rectangle (sized like an icon)application cannot be started through this icon (as it is uninstalled)
(Screenshot shows the Maps (german: Karten) and Contacts (german: Kontakte) "icons")
I checked the usual places:
C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuC:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
But of course there are no links to those Windows Apps.
How to remove these orphan "icons" from the start menu (A-Z list)? What makes Windows show those entries in the start menu's A-Z list?

It is really hard to write this as the title says green with green text, anyhow, I upgraded win 7 and my primary account on win 10 is fine, but this 2nd user account, IE11 comes up with a green background, the search bar is green lettering, in fact this area here where I am typing the message is green with green text. What is going on?
I have tried changing the colors from default, I have tried updating the graphics card and nothing seems to work. One lead I thought I had was that this 2nd account was encrypted, but in the settings it doesn't seem to be.

Upgraded to Win 10 from 7. First did it on laptop. No problems. Was able to log into my Windows accnt. Next, did my PC. All went well, EXCEPT. Unable to log into my Windows accnt. I type my email and pw, then it asks for my "old password". Type that in and I get that's incorrect, although it is correct. It says I can bypass that by hitting next. Nope, that doesn't work. I have gone into accounts and tried logging in there same result. Also, same result when I try to use Cortana.
I have tried numerous things I have read about and nothing works. I have changed my password, removed my email addy from the registry etc etc. I can log onto the MS site with no problem. It appears to be a local machine issue. MS support was of no avail at all!

Here lately when I start my Surface instead of auto signing in like normal, I get an error saying Couldn't connect to network, please try again, or something along those lines. However, it was trying to login to a random account under my name, not my normal user account. This account doesn't appear under Users and Computers either so I'm confused. It's very annoying because my device always defaults to this account to login but it can't.
Attached are some pictures of the aforementioned. Attachment 123275Attachment 123278Attachment 123279

I want to prepare my desktop before selling it and wipe all personal data. I am aware of tools like DBAN which would wipe out the entire disk including Win 10. I would prefer not to do that.
On a related note - my desktop is HP - came with Windows 7 - has the disk partitioned to C: and Recovery Image D:. If I do wipe out the entire C: drive, how exactly will I be able to recover Win 7 from D: ? It won't boot, right?
