View 3 RepliesUpgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago, no passwords set. This morning turned on pc and it asks me for my pass word. No other person has access to the pc.
View 2 RepliesI just got a new system coming from a Win 7 Pro machine to a Win 10 Pro System . Im having an issue with removing the password from 2 spots : When waking up from Sleep & from Screen Saver. When I boot up it doesn't ASK that's all good! !
What I have done so far: Win Settings ( require sign in NEVER is selected ) and Run : User accounts must enter a password ( That is Un Checked ) I tried signing in and out of my Microsoft account still doesn't work!
I also did all 3 steps here! Still asks for Password after Screen Saver & Pin after Sleep!
Require Sign-in on Wakeup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
As of this afternoon I am being asked to enter a password every time I wake my desktop pc even though I've set it so a password is never required. The message on my pc says, "Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. Security policies on this PC are preventing you from changing this setting." The only thing I have done differently today is set up the mail app to handle my different accounts. This is frustrating.
View 8 RepliesDuring the Local account changing process(From Microsoft Account). I have changed my username from existing one to new one and i leave the password fields as empty. After the completing the process. i restarted my laptop and i try to re-login. Now password required to Login.
View 5 RepliesWake up this morning and wife's PC demands a Microsoft Password in order to operate the computer. I know nothing of Microsoft passwords - never needed one before. The solution: Log on to the Internet to reset the password -- BUT you cannot log on to anything without the password. Research on another computer reveals the cute trick of holding down the shift key while restarting in order to get back to a previous build of Windows - BUT you need to do this as an administrator - which you can do by signing into Windows - FOR WHICH YOU NEED A PASSWORD!
View 1 RepliesI had win10 set for auto login, but after updates(I think) now requires for a login password? I reset auto login but reverts back.
View 1 RepliesWhen the program. 1st starts my mouse won't work so I. cannot click on the logo, when it reaches the password page, it won't let me sign in? Wrong password it saids.
View 6 RepliesLaptop has been upgraded to windows 10 and now can't get in! how to reset the password?
View 1 RepliesWorking on desktop Lenova computer. I was updating the computer drivers when one of the drivers froze, I click on cancel. I tried the internet and it stated No Internet Connection. I went into Device manager and did the unthinkable. I deleted everything inside the Network Adapters, including the words Network Adapters. In other words, no Network Adapters are showing in Device Manager.
First, I would like to know how can I replace the words Network Adapters in the Device Manager menu, and download the two adapters that were there in the beginning. Lastly, how to get back the Internet to work again.
I cannot find a link to change my password.
My computer is using my microsoft account password on startup
How do I get back in control of my password?
Why when I upgraded my laptop to windows 10,it does not save password to connect to the internet? It has connect automatically and place to put password in,but if I restart laptop I have to still add password every time.In windows 7 it saved it and I would just hit connect. How can I fix this? Also I`m running windows 10 pro and in user accounts,it doesn`t have manage your network passwords,in the left panel like I googled and says it`s suppose to have.
View 9 RepliesI recently tried windows 10... didnt like it. Did the recall back to windows 7 option. Let it do its thing. Came back and my computer was trying to rapair itself... said could not reboot windows is checking for a solution.. I let it go.. it said no solution found. And just turned off..So I restarted spammed f8. Tried to start in safemode.
Got to password screen and mouse and keyboard won't work...So I restart, spam f8 again. I select repair windows this time, cancel the repair process then clicm.advanced options. Try to look at restore points... and it says none exist... that is bs. I did restore points twice a week. when. I try to start normally it loads her goes to a blue screen with tons of writing and letters and errorrs but no time to read any...
I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. I didn't realize it was going to mess with my log in credentials just to get into my PC. Well, I'm locked out of my PC. I can't log on, it just tells me when I enter in the PIN and the Password that "Your device is offline, please enter old password." I do that and it rejects it.
I can't get internet access because I live on a college campus and the way they have it set up is you have to be logged into your computer before you can access the network.
I tried "resetting my PC" and chose the option to delete all the data but no idea if that will work yet.
I also tried reinstalling windows 7 from the CD, but I can't seem to get it to do that since I can't log in and get any kind of interface. I tried using the boot menu to boot from the CD (it's a retail version of windows 7.) but that doesn't work.
What do I do here? Is my computer bricked? This is ridiculous.
Having problems with Internet connectivity in windows 10 while having eset nod32 9 installed?I did the latest update to windows 10, and now my Internet doesn't work. I get an error while trying to repair of "windows sockets registry entries required for Internet connectivity are missing". I un-install eset, Internet comes back immediately.
This is a common problem, but people don't seem to be connecting it with their virus scanner. Installing free avast makes the computer go directly into repair mode and won't even boot. Windows 10 seems to not like virus scanners. It is a fresh build, OEM windows 10 home, tried to reinstall the system twice with the same results.
When i turned it on and it got to the login screen in windows 10 my mouse would not work, then my password automatically gets guessed to access my machine, it fails then nothing happens. I take my mouse out and plug it back in and it works fine! But the weird thing is I immediately thought I had a virus or such on my PC but my wireless isn't started or running until i login so there's no way someone could have had instant remote control over my machine? After they guessed the password I attempted my original password but that failed it wouldn't work. I restarted my machine and the password worked fine?
I'm doing a virus scan now just in case, it was just strange how it was all sudden, the password was typed in incredibly fast and after it failed there was no response until i unplugged my mouse..
All was working fine but suddenly chrome and edge browsers won't connect to the Internet. Skype works fine.......
View 1 RepliesI successfully installed 14257; however, I have nothing but problems with it. I cannot get Internet explorer to work. It freezes up, cannot use the back or forward arrow, cannot change addresses, and at one time I received an error message saying something about a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message. I looked in my installed application files, Visual C++ is there, I ran a 'repair' on it, and the repair reported it installed without problems. I also cannot open most of the windows applications (Edge, Feedback, etc) then I cannot open any applications as the 'window' button freezes up. I have been able to run sfc /scannow, which reports no issues found and all system files are intact. I am destined to scrap the insider preview on this computer. It works on my laptop but the laptop is too slow and cumbersome to use. while Internet explorer will not work, it does open and I can view web pages but only those that are already on MSN (my home page). I cannot resize IE, nor can I move it anywhere else on the desktop.
Update: I went to Microsoft, downloaded Visual Studio C++ for Windows 10 that didn't get installed. The install seems to have corrected my problems. I can now open IE, EDGE, Feedback, and my start button works again.
Until yesterday everything was working fine. This night I shutdown my computer and this morning, when I started it up, I noticed the icons of my dekstop in the default location and with the default dimensions.
I repositioned them , I changed icon dimensions again but if I sign out/sign in , restart , shutdown/startup the computer , all my desktop icons go back to default position and default dimension.
After having my laptop on for a few hours I encounter a situation where I clearly have an internet connection but my browsers do not work, (both Firefox and Edge). What's weird is, on firefox, it will usually go to home page (google) and google will search, but from there every link I try to click on will display as 'unable to connect'. The only remedy is to power down and reboot.
Reading around I see this issue cropping up back as far as windows 7 but no definitive cause, although potential DNS issues are mentioned.
I am having trouble with the modern apps and connectivity. It feels like half my computer will connect to the internet, and the other half won't. Desktop apps like Chrome, Steam, Outlook, iTunes etc. all connect to the internet fine, but any of the Windows apps like Xbox, Store and (most frustratingly) Settings will not connect.
In my network and sharing centre in the control panel it says 'You are not connected to any networks' - but in the system tray, and in the settings app it shows me as connected to my home wi-fi. I am on a desktop, and using a USB wireless adapter. I don't think the adapter is the problem as I have tried it on another desktop in our house on Windows 10 and it worked fine. Curiously also, when I click 'Adapter settings' in the control panel, it shows the wifi connection.
I've tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter, both through the Windows update and adapter website but to no avail (and as I mentioned, it seems the adapter works fine elsewhere). I've updated manually to the latest Windows 10 Pro build, i've done a DNS flush, I've tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus, I've tried disabling startup apps, I've done a clean install of Windows 10 and still am unable to fix the issue.
Ok so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.
after an update at starting, tablet laptop start gives picture/clock screen, that slides to the password screen but when password block is touched on screen or mouse clicked the screen flips back to the picture/clock ... how to deal with this kind of lock out that the typing box won't open and loops to clock screen? have turned off for an hour to see if that does it..but if not...would restarting into a repair or recovery be possible fix...i have never been able to get into safe mode without being logged in but have gotten into recovery during a restart which made me wonder if entering a recovery during boot and reversing the upgrade was possible if all else fails...
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10 media on a flash drive, and I was going to load it onto my other laptop that had no OS on it. I got to a screen that had said "Setup is Starting". Then, a box popped up saying," Windows cannot open the required file D:Sourcesinstall.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available", I checked and the file is there, but I can't continue with the installation.
View 4 RepliesI have Aspire V5-573G, which has all hardware requirements for Windows 10. The problem is when I tried to upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10 after 30%, the installation stops and roll backs to windows 8.1, I tried this 3 times and fed up. It gave me error "The installion failed in the FIRST_BOOT phrase with an error during BEGIN_FIRST_BOOT operation".
So I tried to do a clean install, I have booted to USB key, formatted hard drive, but it gave me error "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x800701E3". Both the way I couldn't install windows 10.
Everytime I open the messages tile, this message keeps popping out, authentication required, continue or cancel. What's this about? I'm on windows 10 mobile.
