Restart Computer After Installing Update Hangs
Aug 27, 2015When I restart my computer, ie after installing an update, it hangs at the restart screen and I have to press power button to reboot system.

Jan 7, 2016I installed W10. This problem appears to be random and happens a couple of time a month. It is really annoying. What happens is, the WiFi appears to stop working. It can't find any available networks and won't reconnect no matter what I do. I have even tried closing/restarting explorer but that does nothing.
If I try to shut-down or restart my computer, it just hangs on the shut-down/restart screen. I have to hold down the power button to get my computer to shut-down. The weird thing is, after a restart, it works fine ...for a few weeks. It just seems very strange.
I use a WiFi dongle. I have a couple of them so I tried each one - they all eventually give me the same result . I have a HP if that works.
Right Click Non Operational From Windows Button / Restart Hangs
Sep 10, 2015I have done a free upgrade from Windows 7 Premium to Windows 10 Home. The upgrade appears to have worked fine.
However, one problem that I have is that when I right click the Windows button I get the Menu of Windows Apps but only the 'Run' and 'Search' are working, all others (Windows Explorer, Control Panel, Task Manager .......... up to .... Programs and Features) are non operational.
Group1, Group2 and Group5 folders at C:UsersGugsAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows have the short cuts to the Windows apps and they all work fine when I click on them. Just incase the problem was with existing users prior to the upgrade, I created a new user after the upgrade, the same problem persists.
The other issue is the Restart option just hangs, the machine never restarts. Shutdown is fine.

Dec 19, 2015I have been recently noticing that my computer sometimes hangs up with a blank screen when the windows 10 login screen is supposed to load. I am forced to press the reset button in order to eventually log on.
I have then noticed through event viewer a bugcheck warning. I have been trying to find what the cause or issue might be but I have not had any luck. I am attaching a report as per forum rules
BSOD :: Computer Unusable Due To Constant Hangs
Dec 10, 2015My newly built computer is borderline unusable due to constant hangs - the computer will frequently pause then continue after about 45 seconds, which makes doing any work basically impossible. During the course of writing these few sentences running the log collector, and uploading the logs, it hung 5+ times. The only programs that typically are running are Word and Chrome. BSODs are less frequent, but still an issue.
This is tied to the network card, but maybe there is something else (or multiple things) going on.

BSOD :: Upgraded Computer Constantly Hangs On Boot
Sep 16, 2015I upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 recently. About 90% of boots, my laptop will hang a and produce a BSOD. Initially, the BSODs were typically "system thread exception not handled" and "pfn list corrupt".
However, after the latest Win 10 update last week, initially everything went well, there were no boot hangs for awhile until a few days ago when it keeps on BSODing on boot with the error "Inaccessible boot device". The subsequent restart would end up with a BSOD of "system thread exception not handled". It works only after multiple restarts, which is worrying.
Cannot Shut Down Computer Since Installing
Aug 6, 2015I have installed windows 10 a couple of days ago and since doing so I cannot shut down my computer. Every time I try to shut it down the screen goes black and it stays like that until the battery runs out. When the computer sleeps the same thing happens.

Ever Since Installing - No Apps Will Download On The Computer
Apr 2, 2016I've looked at your forums and instructions on clearing the cache, etc...but still have no luck in downloading applications. They go into a queue and are listed as "starting download" but don't go further. I've rebooted and cleared the cache which will clear the queue but when I try again the same thing happens.

Shutdown During Restart For Update
Jul 30, 2015URL...In control panel under windows update I click "view update history",URL...I'm assuming it has to do with my previous problem in the previous post, another problem might have been that I shut down during a restart for an update because my computer sometimes has problems starting up so I have to unplug my desktop and plug it back in for it to work. (when it restarts it says overclocking failed thought I don't overclock so I enter and exit the BIOS to get back to normal)

Dec 20, 2015My computer is a Toshiba 64-bit laptop.
I had a job running last night, downloading stuff from the internet. I knew would take approximately 30 hours to run. It ran most of yesterday and I had hopes I would wake up this morning and it would be finished.
Windows 10, in its infinite wisdom, installed updates and restarted my computer during the night. My job was ended and I had to restart it this morning. I can't run anything else that accesses the internet while this is running because it slows this job down too much. So now I have another day or more of not being able to do anything else on the internet.
How can I stop the updating and restarting of my computer? It is my computer, I should have control over that.

Sep 13, 2015That's just it. This update is bugged and gives me an awful display experience. I installed windows several times to track it down, and I finally did. Now I need a way to not install it. And uninstalling it after it gets installed is not a solution. If it starts bugging my display it'll stay bugged after the install too.

Aug 7, 2015Upgrade from win 8.1..The install was very smooth when I upgraded, i am having minimal problem with my pc. the only problem is that at the moment, random of times my pc will automatically reset with out warning, no BSOD, no errors. Here is how it will go,
Playing game
Sudden power off (sometimes up to x3)
Restart (sometimes up to x3)
then it will auto automatically boot to windows and ill have a full day before it does it again.

BSOD :: Computer Crashed And Won't Restart
Feb 10, 2016My Lenovo PC suddenly shut down today and when I restarted it I got a BSOD with a 'bad pool header' message. I did eventually restart but soon shut down again with a 'k mode exception not handled' message. Now when I restart I get a blue page 'RECOVERY Your computer could not start properly. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error: 0xc0000225.'
I have a windows 10 system repair disk but when I try and boot from it I get 'non system disk or disk error'.
I recently (2 weeks ago) replaced the hard drive because the old one was showing SMART errors. I cloned the old disk to an identical disk and it seemed to be going fine until today. Not sure quite what to do next.
Power Interruption Causes Computer To Restart On Its Own
Nov 12, 2015Since installing Win 10 my computer will restart on its own if the electrical power "blips" or I unplug the unit and plug it back in. It did not happen when I had Win 7.
I also have to manually restart the system twice to get past the black screen with the blue window. If I go to safe mode using msconfig to change boot method I usually do not have the problem. But everything seems to slow down.
Computer Shuts Down But Does Not Restart Properly
Dec 31, 2015I just built a new pc. Specs are Asus Z87-Pro Motherboard, Intel i7 4790k, 16gb RAM, 3T seagate HD. Everything has been performing well on my computer except for when it needs to restart. When I go into windows and click shutdown it has no problem but when I click restart it will exit windows and turn off the display but the computer will remain running and will not boot back up.
I have to manually press the power button to turn it off and then press it again to boot it back up. This also happens when it needs to restart from other programs. From what I have found is it may have to be something with bios versions or settings but I honestly have no clue. I have the most recent bios update for my mobo and I haven't found any settings that would fix this in my bios either.

Aug 29, 2015New HP 15. Upgraded to Windows Ten 2-3 weeks ago. When updates began being pushed and a restart was required, my laptop would freeze during restart. I would then power down / up and all is well.
I noticed during restart my wifi lamp would go orange (disconnected) and cycle to blue (connected). If I powered down / up the same sequence would occur followed by my audio off lamp (orange) illuminating.
Happened every time. Figured it had something to do with an audio driver but I don't have the knowledge to say if it was that or the phase of the moon.
Today I received update KB3081448, went to restart and it actually restarted. I knew when the speaker button lit I was good.
Just for s&g, I have "restarted" 5 times in about the past 30 minutes successfully. What the update is or if it's a coincidence however restart now works. Just throwing this out there for those who may be documenting all this stuff.
PC In Endless Restart Loop After Update
Jun 17, 2015Just downloaded the newest update for Windows 10, I was asked to restart my PC to install it, that was over 30 minutes ago, since then my PC reaches the Microsoft logo and under it, it says Preparing Automatic Repair and then it restarts and does that all over again, what am I suppose to do? I can't even get past it.

Jan 18, 2016I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 10 yesterday (1/17/2016). It downloaded roughly 5.76 GB into a hidden folder : "C:$Windows.~BT"
Then it prompted me to restart my computer, so I did. Once restarted, nothing changed.
So I went into Windows Update, and it just tells me: "Restart your computer to install important updates" and it has a "Restart now" button. I've restarted roughly 40 times or so in the last 2 days after trying various fixes, and it doesn't make a difference.
I checked the update history, and there are a whole bunch of Pending and Successful updates with a "Date Installed" date of 1/15/2016. Nothing more recent either.
Computer Won't Shutdown Completely After Installing New Graphics Card
Aug 21, 2015I am running windows 10, and have just upgraded from an Nvidia geforce gtx evga 670 2GB, to a Nvidia geforce gtx evga 980ti hybrid. But now my computer wont shut-down properly, what happens is I click shut-down and windows 10 shut-downs (black screen), but then my fans on the computer are still running. I can restart the computer fine it just won't shut-down properly, also nothing is showing up in event viewer for kernel-power.

Mar 5, 2016Windows 10 keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture touchpad driver on my laptop. The driver is garbage and it runs three memory resident processes, which seems rather excessive for a touchpad driver. The default Windows touchpad driver works perfectly well, so I want to use that instead of the ASUS driver. However, if I uninstall the ASUS driver Windows Update quickly reinstalls it.
I disabled automatic driver installation when I installed Windows 10, as you can see here:
Despite that Windows update keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture driver.
how I can make it stop?
