View 5 RepliesI have upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had problems going into and out of sleep mode which seem have been resolved by installing updates for Intel Graphics. Now I can't get anything to come up when I left click on the Start button. All of the other icons in the task bar will only work with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens with a right click. Also, I did not get Cortana when I upgraded to Windows 10 on this device. I also upgraded another lap top and have Cortana on that one. With all of these problems occurring one after the other, can I reinstall Windows 10?
View 14 RepliesUpdated my Win 7 Pro x64 computer last night to Windows 10. Now can't click on the start menu items or really any windows menu. Some other random things won't accept a left click either. Chrome seems to respond just fine but not firefox. I'm puzzled. I have a Razer Naga 2014 but tried a Cheap little logitech mouse with same results. I also logged into my machine Via team viewer from work and left click still doesn't work on things.
I'd be totally fine doing a fresh install but not sure of the procedure yet to have it activate without installing windows 7 first then doing the upgrade again.
I cannot left click my Start Button, only a right click works, but does not give the same results.
View 15 RepliesI just installed Win10 and had everything set up like I wanted. I rebooted and now I have a black desktop. I can see my icons and the taskbar changes colors to the theme I picked. The lock/log screen shows the pic I chose. I have tried everything and I can't get my theme to show on my desktop.

It was after installing these updates and I do not know which one is the culprit.

Below is the current issue I am experiencing with Windows 10. My computer has been running normally for days after having installed the software, only while booting today have I been experiencing this issue. I have tried doing restarts and fully turning the computer off, nothing seems to work. Also the hidden files do not normally show up on my desktop.
View 9 RepliesI think since the latest Windows 10 update some of my icons have a black background to them, sometimes they don't *update*.
What could be causing this? I've tried deleting the thumbnail cache using CCleaner and Disk Cleaner but that didn't seem to work.
I did a Windows Update 3-4 days ago ever since my desktop background goes black at random. It also goes black if I click a desktop icon or if I use the highlight tool on my mouse. When I was doing the update it got stuck on restarting and I had to force shutdown my computer. I was thinking about using system restore.

I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and whenever i right click on desktop the screen turns black. Check out video for more details(The video is in windows 8.1 but the problem is the same and still persists).
View 8 Replieswhile playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.
View 5 RepliesI used to see icons on my desktop and today, they disappear altogether. There is a side bar you work with and I don't feel comfortable.
The screen is black and if I right click on screen, it does not work and nothing is coming up to chose. When changing screens, I see glimpse of icons on the desktop momentarily.
So, my true desktop screen seems to be covered by this new black screen with left side bar.
Is there any way to change the right click menu from white to black ? As you can see in the picture the right click menu is white and i cannot find the reg key to change the color to black. Or some thing i can install to change the color
View 1 RepliesThis problem is on a desktop computer (HP Pavilion). When I click the start button, the start menu does not display. Pressing the Windows key on the keyboard also does not take me to the start menu.
I can access the right-click menu on the start button and most of the items on the right-click menu respond correctly when clicked (a few don't. No response from "Search" and "Desktop"). I installed Windows 10 over a month ago and have had no problems until now. Everything was working fine yesterday and to the best of my knowledge I have changed no settings since then.
When i upgraded to windows 10 on my toshiba laptop the display changed from black printing on a white background to blue printing on a black background which i can"t read. my old eyes aren't working so well any more and i would like to switch back to the black on white.

View 1 RepliesI recently upgrade to windows 10 and so far everything is great except. My Windows update wont download the updates it only gives me error 0x80246008. So I tried to solve it on my own by using these steps.
I suggest you to try to manually reset the Windows Updates Components and check.
Please follow the below steps to reset the Windows Updates Components:
1.Press Windows Key + X on the keyboard and then select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the menu.
2.Stop the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
3. Now rename the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folder. You can do this by typing the following commands in the Command Prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.
ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old
4. Now, let’s restart the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. Type the following commands in the Command Prompt for this. Press the ENTER key after you type each command.
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
5. Type Exit in the Command Prompt to close it.
On the start menu each application / file has an associated icon. Unfortunately it appears that Windows 10 is using the accent color as the icon's background. So I get squares of color with the icon in the middle. There are screen shots from Windows 10 previews that show the icon backgrounds as transparent, or at least matching the background color of the start menu. But with transparency turned on, the icon backgrounds are not transparent, but instead the accent color.
It is as if Microsoft said "Hey - ALL icons should be SQUARE - so we will make all icons SQUARE just like tiles, whether you like it or not".
So - how does one make the start menu icon background color transparent?
I don't like the default one-color background when startingshutting down WIndows. I don't mean logon screen nor the lock screen. I mean this:
Is there any way to replace this one-color background with any wallpaper?
I have a very strange problem in Win 10 Pro RTM:
when I right click on the start menu and the conext menu appears like this:
the only links that works are the first four starting from the botom (desktop, shutdown, run & find), when I click on any other option in the menu nothing happens.
It's not a terrible problem because I can access to the same links in other ways but this menu is really usefull.
The first 2 days after upgrade from win 8.1 this menu worked OK but suddenly stop working. In the middle I installed several programas, uninstal others and update some drivers. But I don't know when exactly start this behaiviour.
Is there any way to set the color background on this? I don't much like the dark with white letters, I'd rather have a white background and black letters.

View 2 RepliesSo I've tried so many things, There's another post on here where you put a command in powershell and that doesn't seem to be working. Some people say their anti-virus software caused the issue and i uninstalled mine and still nothing! I'll try everything that's commented even if I've done it before.
I believe I got the message saying start menu and cortana aren't working and that they'll work on startup. I dont remember getting it but after reading about an issue where someone mentioned it I vaguely remember just ignoring it. If you need any specs, I'll provide them. I keep trying to ignore this issue but would really like to try and fix it.
I managed to update the Windows to the last version, but now when I want to click here:
Task View opens, but search and start does not.
I had to take a photo because I cannot open paint, since I can't open the start menu.
Clicking left on start button should open Cortana and Start Options.
Nothing happens.
There's a hamburger on the top left which will bring up the start menu, Most Used, Recently Added and File Explorer, Settings, etc. At the bottom, Power Symbol and a half hamburger that brings up all Apps.
It does not open the Cortana search.
Don't know what the owner did but all was OK at setup.
